How to create a mouse over event that call a function after 3 second?
I'm trying to create a function where when a mouse go over a sprite, it will count 3 second and call upon another new sprite, when mouse out before 3 second, the new sprite will not be called, how can i do this?
how to create a mouse over event that call a function after 3 second?
I'm trying to create a function where when a mouse go over a sprite, it will count 3 second and call upon another new sprite, when mouse out before 3 second, the new sprite will not be called, how can i do this?
I have a question about making a function for two different kinds of event. It's not critical but I would like to reduce my lines of code and just be more efficient. Basically I have a button on the stage called "Enter". I also want the user to have the option of hitting the enter button. I don't have a problem making these two separate handlers for these events (i.e. one handler for the KeyboardEvent and one handler for the MouseEvent):
so today my question is how can we have 1 function triggered by both a Timer event and a Mouse event? 'm trying to avoid having to re-write/re-name a function just because I also have a Mouse event that triggers it and not just a Timer event.
Issue:
I have a addThis bubble fade in with icons on a button rollover, the addThis bubble will fade out after the timer is finished, but I also have a close button in that bubble which needs to use the same function that the timer uses. (want to avoid writing 2 exactly alike functions)
I'm hoping this there is an easy workaround for this like event:null or something.[code]./...
So say i drag "my_object" to a y-coordinate of 100, how do i make it so it only calls the function once. Then if i drag the object away from y=100, and then back to y=100, i want it to call the function again.
I'm using the onEnterFrame event b/c i need it to constantly look for the object to be at y=100, maybe except when its actually at 100.
I have some movie clips that I want to load by using a text box. The way I want to do it is to have a text box and based on the word typed into it call the respective movieclip. My problem is that I do not know how to call the function based on the event of someone hitting the "enter" key.
I'm playing with the event system and my own custom event class for a project I'm working on. I'm wondering if it's better to use obj.dispatchEvent(new CustomEvent(event)) or if I should just use a regular function call.
It seems to me that in most cases when one object is detecting the event and another is responding to it it is better to use the event system so I'm not passing around objects too much.
I was also wondering what the performance hit of using the event vs. the function call is. I'm sure the event is more cpu intensive but is it negligible?
I cant because it runs off a VideoEvent, not a MouseEvent. The obvious work around is to copy and paste the function and rename this part, or alternativly just make a function such as:
Code: button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,callMyVideoFunction); function callMyVideoFunction (event:MouseEvent) { myVideoFunction(null);[code].....
I want to call the same event handler function with a click and also with a custom event. the problem is the event type that needs to be passed to the function. Is there are generic event type that can be used to call the function from both places?
Code: menuBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, menuOpen ); function menuOpen(event:MouseEvent){
I am in the process of making a button (a very stubborn button) with a mouse event in the actions for a frame. Here is the full error: Error: Call to possibly undefined method addEventListener through a reference of static type Class. And here is the code for the listener:
var _sprite:Sprite=new Sprite();..._sprite.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onClick);addChild(_sprite);private function onClick(e:MouseEvent):void{ //how to make mouse shape into handCursor here and
The keyBoard event listeners call on the rotate and unrotate functions and based on the key inputs(A and D) will implement either of the functions and rotate the image or return it to the original upright position. However, I haven't been able to get the function to work. When I press the A or D keys on the keyboard nothing happens. I even put trace() in one of the functions to see if the function will even be implemented but I don't get anything. I put in my Scripts below. Why are the functions not working? Do the eventlisteners fire or are there conflicts? I'm not getting any error messages.

i have a password game where users need to select the correct 3 buttons to progress to the next stage. The 3 buttons that need to be selected are: pwd_btn1, pwd_btn2,pwd_btn3. After, the user must click on "submit_btn" to verify if they have chosen the correct buttons. So far everything works fine. So what i would like to happen is that once the 3 buttons are selected, and before the submit_btn is clicked, a function is triggered that will apply a glow effect to the submit_btn, indicating to the user to click on it.[code]
I am loading 5 images using "for loop" and I have created the listener and if the images completes the loading, the function is called. Now, I need is the name of the "image" which is loaded on each five images gets completed.
[Code]...
in the output it is throwing as "[object LoaderInfo]". Now i need is the name of the "Image", inside the thumbnail_load function, that means, which image loading is completed.
I reworked a script that creates a menu from XML. Works great, it creates the menu items by attaching a button I have in my library, each button gets the proper data passed to it in the process. Each button has an onRelease tied to it by the script. When the menu item is clicked (onRelease) it loads an image and proper data into the movie (into movie clips & dynamic text boxes). My hangup is that I want the first menu item to be called when the menu is created. In other words, i want to call the function that the onRelease is calling with the first menu items data but i can't figure out how to do it.All i can figure is having the button call the function itself [i.e.if(this.name =="button1"){] but that doesn't work.[code]
Forgive me for this stupid noob question but I want to call a function (loadList) that originally gets triggered after a mouseevent from another function (addToXML) that does not have an event.
The loadList function takes info from a XML var, sticks it into an array which then gets loaded into a tile list and that is working fine.
The addToXML function when called adds elements to the XML var after which I want to call the first function with the event parameter so it refreshes the items in the tile list.
I know it can do this by creating a new array and loading that into the tile list in the addToXML function, but it be much simpler to just recall the function.
but all the event constants I have tried give me error messges like "1061: Call to a possibly undefined method addEventListener through a reference with static type Function."
