I am trying to play a couple of movie clips one after the other one. In other words, I would like movie clip A to run and execute the AS attached, then I would like movie clip B to run and execute the AS attached to it

I have a few movieClips and I would like them to play one after the other. [At end of MovieClip play next movieClip]. Using AS3 to Tween, this is my first Clip props.

I'm trying to make a menu that has multiple movie clips as buttons and control them all with an array and one event listener. There will be many movieClip buttons on my page but for now I have two animated movieClips each with a stop(); action on fram one. The movieClips have 15 frames of animation. The main timeline of my movie has only 1 frame. Each movie clip is on it's own layer. If I create an event listener without the array I can get the buttons to work individually but when using the Array I can't get it to work.

I wanna play several swf files at the same time with the method loadclip in a movieclip object.However, I do not want that all the swf get their sound track played. I just want that one swf file get its sound played.Is there any way by mean of actionscript to get the rest of these movieclips with their swf videos to be quiet when their video is played?

I'm trying to trigger some events (fading of nearby movieclips) based on cue points of a currently playing FLV. I'm using the FLVPlayback component (not Netstream) and have added cue points from inside flash (so they're "Actionscript" type). I actually found a nice article here: [URL] but it's AS2. To put it simply, let's say I have the following:
1) FLVPlayback component which has a parameter called "movie.flv" for the clip that it's supposed to play.
2) The instance of the component is called "movie_inst".
3) There are 2 cue points added through the component's parameters rollout, one called "point1", another called "point2".
What's the simplest code to tell flash "when you get to point1 I want you to do ___"?

I want to have a background that has random movie clips playing. Originally I was going to have long timelines with blank frames. Is there a simple a frame action that I can use that stops the playhead and makes it wait for certain amount of time and then plays?

I just have some few questions about Buttons and MovieClips using AS3.
Intro and outro of a movieclips using buttons.
Like for example: I have two buttons named buttonOne and buttonTwo. When I click buttonOne, the movie clip named oneMc should play its intro and then stop then after that whenever I click buttonTwo, the movieclip oneMc should play outro animation and then movieclip twoMc intro comes in.
Do I need to use the Loader and URLRequest for this one? Also, how can I call the movieclip to play its outro and play the next movieclip's intro?

What I would like to do is play ramdom movie clips on my main time line. I've tried using the below code, but it does not work:

My movie clips are named "mc1, mc2" etc. I've got them on a layer named "BG" and each movie clip is in a key frame. The ActionScript is on a seperate layer named "AS".

I've had to work on a god-awful Flash movie with lots of nested hand animated movieclips and sub-clips, all with their own timeline.Every time I'm asked to update it, I wince trying to test it and spot details for tweaking.Does anyone know of a way to stop playback of every movieclip? irrespective of how its nested and without addressing them all using dot notation.
There are loads of movieclips you see, and I want a pause control to freeze everything, I've tried this with onEnterFrame events on each movieclip looking at a _root variable called "playState", but some movie clips ignore this, and keep playing.Is there an easy way to do this other than pasting my code into everything? Is there a way of making code affect all movieclips simultaneously - halting their own timelines? Then resuming?

If I have a MovieClip with its "visible" property set to "false", would it aid performance to "stop()" its timeline? Or will that have no effect, since its not being rendered, anyway?

I have two movieclips on the same frame but on different layers located within the movieclip. The first movieclip plays just fine. However, the second one isn't going ahead even a single frame. The code that I have mentioned below is located withing the second movieclip containing background image. And I think this code is causing the issue because when I remove this it plays perfectly fine. The function of this code is to automatically re-size background image with the browser dimensions. The whole code just worked fine on the main timeline.However, when I shifted it inside a movieclip its causing an issue.

I am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.

I have some animation (programmatic, I'm NOT using keyframed animation in timeline), and some music I want to play in the background. Once the music file reaches the end (about 30 seconds long), I want to trigger the end of the animation functions.I figure I could either use an actionscript timer to trigger the end of the animation or a keyframe with actionscript that is placed on the timeline near the end of the song but these methods assume knowledge about the duration of the wave file. If I changed the framerate or updated the external wave file, these triggers would possibly no longer sync upIs there some sort of event listener or other detection method for an audio file to signal it has finished playing? Or maybe there is a way to get the duration of the audio file to use in the timer

I am creating a game that has 6 movieclips all on the main time line of the game. Each movie clip has three buttons that when clicked plays, pauses or stops a sound clip.When I press any of the sound clip play buttons that sound starts playing, the problem is when I click any of the other sound clip play buttons those sounds also start to play. Is there a way I can disable the other sound clip buttons while the current sound is playing then enable all of the buttons when the current sound has stopped.

So I made a few buttons with sounds within them and when I publish it they work just fine. But what I want them to do is;
Say I click a Button.The sound starts playing.Then I click it again, before the sounds done playing.I want it to stop the playing sound and start playing the button I just clicked on, whether it be the same button, or a different one.Right now it just ends up sounds like an echo because it'll play it as many times as you click it.

The problem I have is I click the play button and start playing. Then I click next and when I click play for another song the songs overlap. How can I stop whatever song is playing and start playing the new one? Has to stop the prev song when I click play_brn.

ok so i have a button that plays an animation for fire when held down. and when realsed goes to and stops and frame one. when it reaches the end of the time line it goes to and plays at frame 10 and goes back to the end of the timeline. I have a sound for the fire animation that plays for the effect. The problem is the sound keeps going untill its over even if the button isnt held down. and when the playhead reaches the end of the timeline it goes to and plays and frame 10 and it replays the sound. if i hold it down it will just keep playing the sound over and over from start to finish. what i want it to do it when i hold the button down i want it to play the sound and when released it stops the sound where ever it is at. I also dont the sound to play again if there is a sound already going to stop it from playing 20 sounds at one time it gets loud and you need asprin after about 5 seconds of that.

I m trying to make sense of how to load a swf into a parent MovieClip and allow them to communicate.I ve attached two zip files � one which works fine and the other doesn�t. Unfortunately (for me), the one which doesn�t work is closer to my current project.I need to load movieclips into the parent movieclip. The parent movieclip has controls which rely on values parsed from the child movieclip.In the parent movieclips I wait until the loading is complete and so the values should be passed. However, the values aren�t passed unless I use a button (or timer), to pass the values (see the working exampes).The code which doesn�t work is:

I am learning how using flash is like using legos. if you have two eight hole pieces, and you put them together using only two holes, the lego structure will not be as strong or work so well. seems like you have to cover the entire basis (put all eight holes into the eight pegs) for the program to work, and I am reading the help section for this, although if anyone knows of some good books that hold valuable knowledge and wisdom, I would certainly like to know about them, as I am dedicated to learning flash.
I have 1.swf, that in order to get it to operate as I have programed it, I must play it in the flash player. Playing it in Flash Professional does not work in its entirety because of conflicts in the enter key's duties. The 1.swf works as it should when played in the flash player outside of Flash Professional MX 2004.When I am loading 1.swf into presentation style 2.swf, and then play 2.swf in the Flash Player, the key board functionality of 1.swf (most specifically the enter key) does not operate as the 1.swf Actionscript 2.0 defines. I have created a projection file as well, to see if there was any other behavior that might occur, but the result were the same. Looking for a way to stop all movieclips both are the stage and that are children of the ones on the stage.
I toyed with looping thru stage's children so I can first target clips on the stage. But I am getting error.
