I've used .x = and .y = with the position I want and the pane continues to show up in the top left corner instead. What am I doing wrong?
View 2 RepliesI have big element at the top of the webpage that sides down with jQuery when a button is clicked. However, if the first post on the blog is a flash video, it shows up on top of the menu. Z-index doesn't help in this instance.
View 2 RepliesThe counter displays sprites in place of number values. More experienced programmers have given me a clue. Why am I getting error # 1010. Secondly, what am I not seeing that's so obvious? I wish I went in to this with a better foundation in actionscript 3, but I'm reading and doing my best. WHAT I SEE
-dollar sign indicates a variable or array "$numbers"
-import flash.utils.Dictionary; "indicates an associative string"
-Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties
-is the associative string is fooling me? "maybe I set no values, duh"
-are the property of my symbols are set wrong?

I want the navigation_mc to be in a specific place. How can i do that with actionscript? How can i place the mc? This is the code i used so far.

I've come accross loadMovieNum and loadMovie, I can use them to have the swf load up in to the top left hand corner but I can't seem to find out how to script it to the area I want it to load to.

I'm using the SharedObject.getLocal syntax, but is there another syntax I need to use so that I can save the file in a directory called appdata/roaming/MyApplicationName ?
View 1 RepliesI am currently working on a platformer, and I have a bunch of different tiles I use to form my maps with. These tiles are very different in the looks, and placed besides eachother, they give a very sharp change, which is not very visually appealing. I've been trying to fix this in the following way:
I have four layers, two for each block I'm fading. The first layer is where the actual tile, the graphic, is located. The second layer is the mask. In the mask layer, I have a gradient, which is the exact opposite of the other tiles mask layer (Mask layer 1 goes down, mask layer 2 goes up). However, I need to be able to alter those dynamically, place new gradients in the appropriate mask layer, and new tiles in the appropriate graphics layer.
I've been googling around for the last hour or so, attempting to find a way to define which layer a new MovieClip is placed on, but all I've found is setChildIndex, which, since one layer acts as a mask, I can't use. Is there any such function in Actionscript, or am I to make all combinations of tiles by hand?
I used below scripts for drawing on stage. but I want draw on specific place of stage not all of them.How can I define that zone ?

I have a problem with a dynamic text field. I have 1 text field on frome 10 which displays text from a text file. This text can change when a button is clicked. I have another text file on frame 20, which i want to display what ever text is in the text filed on frame 10.
I have tried:-

but it doesn't work.

I know that the question may seem very easy. I am trying to display an image on canvas.I need to do it in AS, and also I need to locate image in specific coordinates.
View 2 RepliesI'm aware of the .click() method but the click must be on a prezi loaded (flash) so don't really have a html element to use.
What I have instead are the exactly coordinates of the place I want to simulate click on. Is there any way I can do that?
The click must activate a flash element. (A play button)
Note: There is a similar question around that have an answer witch require swf control. I don't have that so that method is not applicable.
One other quick question... what happens if I simulate a click on an element that has display: none. It click on the elements "under" it? (as a normal click would do; and yes I know this sounds funny but I don't know how to explain it otherwise). If yes I was thinking of making a position absolute div, put it on top of flash and use .click(). The problem is that i have a feeling that the click won't be applied on flash.
This is somehow a combination of javascript simulate mouse click on specific position and mouse click somewhere else on page (not on a specific div).

I have an object that moves around, and once it is pressed, I want it to move to a specific place and then continue to the next frame in the movie clip. This is what I have : a movie clip, the first frame has the stop(); command and contains approx 12 frames. The MC has this script attached to it :

The first two parts do move the object to where I want it but the third part will not work and I cant get it to move past frame 1. (Note : 0,0 is not the place I want it to move to, it is there because I was experimenting with the code and this was an easy place to assign to the movement).

I'm working on a Flash presentation, and I have a lot of text pages with buttons and movie clips on. The problem I have is that all subheads are set to size 35pt using Helvetica Neue Heavy, but on a couple of the pages a random subhead is displaying a lot larger than 35pt (I'd say 50pt) but it is definitely set to size 35pt in the Character palette. I have no idea why this is happening and it's driving me mad.

im trying to do a simple calculation and display it in a dynamic text box however when I use small numbers the dynamic text box displays NaN.

lambdas is is the variable i am trying to display in the dynamic text box (instance name is test_txt). rk and lp are input text numbers. I am trying to use rk = 0.05 and lp = 0.2. 0.25 should be displayed in the box
I'm making a flash site that displays random quotes in a dynamic text box... well, I wish I could do that but I really don't know how :S. I tried searching in the forums but the word "quote" is too popular and I only get random movement, random animation etc.
View 14 RepliesThe first questions was a calculation with the correct answer 5 or five. I have created an input text box with a variable ans1. Instance for the input text is Q1Input. I made a button with the following button script:

Typing a correct answer gets me to a wrong message (frame 3) not correct (frame 2). When I trace(ans1) it seems that the input text box is passing teh formatting data with the value thus giveing me WRONG.
Whenever I test or publish a CS5 movie that uses TLF text (no matter which font), the .swf displays all elements but the text. There's simply nothing there. I'm on a mac with Snow Leopard, 10.6.7. This only happens as soon as I pass the 1000 frame limit (before, everything displays fine). Reaching wit's end here. Anyone know what causes this, and more specifically, how to solve it?
View 1 RepliesI have added a menu to my game, and now certain text for the game does not appear unless I quickly double click the text field. Everything non-text works. The Sidebar is an instance of Sidebar movieclip which has two text fields that I added in the flash IDE, both with correct instance names. I have embedded my fonts, and tracing the text of the textField gives the correct number, without any return lines or whitespaces. The "double click shows text" is only for my countdown time.
My other score text field does not display no matter what, not even the text I set in the flash IDE. The only thing I can think of why is maybe flash stops rendering it because I have another menu movieclip that I set the alpha to 0 on stage that might overlay the text fields, however removing the menu movieclip does not fix the problem. Right clicking on the text field, select all, copy, paste gives the correct number.

I am new to AS3 and trying to figure out how to do something. I want to have a block of text that displays a discrete name as one mouses over several buttons. EG: As one mouses over button 1 the text box displays the text "Button One" and goes blank on RollOut. On rolling over Button 2 that same text box displays "Button Two" etc.
I am a noob and really don't even know what tutorials to search for to do this, 'cause I don't know what to call this function.
i have about 25 slides (or MC's) and they contain dynamic text fields. I have an admin area setup where i can change the content in that dynamic text field from within my admin area. Now my problem starts rather than writting 50 functions or whatever per MC as there might be more at certain stages or less.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to write a loop which displays whatever text from the mc that is currently open in my admin area so i can edit it...(i have this working for one only) that's why i was thinking a for loop would do the trick.
