ActionScript 2.0 :: Check If Any Duplicate Arrays Exist And Remove Them From MainArray?
Jul 7, 2009
I have a script that creates arrays based on certain events. These are all stored in one main array like so: mainArray = [[3,6,5,1],[4,5,6],[5,3,5],[4,5,6]]; As you can see, sometimes I end up with duplicate arrays within the mainArray. How can I check if any duplicate arrays exist and remove them from mainArray?
I was wondering if there a way to check if a variable(x) exist.. Let me try to explain a bit more: Let's pretend i load 5 variables from a text file named myvariable1 , myvariable2, ... , myvariable5 How can i check if "myvariable(x)" = true where x = 1 or 2 or 3 ... as they were incremented..?

How can I check how many movieClips exist in a container and how much space are they taken?
In other words, how can I make this calculation if I have a rectangular movieClip (containerMc) that is 5x1px and five square movieClips (sq1Mc,sq2Mc, sq3Mc, sq4Mc and sq5Mc) that are 1x1px and which can dynamically be placed inside containerMc and I want to know how many and which of these five movieClips already exist in containerMc so I can determine where the next square movieClip needs to be placed?
Can someone be so kind and show me how to do this or direct me where I can find the answer?

I'm making a game for children where they have to pay money by dragging it on a square. It al works wel only when i pick the first coin of one euro without going over the coin of 2 euro and then pick up a 2 euro coin the one euro disappears. after then it all works fine.i cant remove my duplicate euro's from the stage when i clic on pay here is my code for the euro's the euro's are in a emty movieclip
in the first duplicate move clip I'm loading an array. I want to duplicate the movie "slide" again. so i get the same movie with the array and an other name on the right of the original movie.at this moment It only loads one slice from the array and I need all//mMaskedSLice//array with the gotoandstop
I am trying to apply code to all instances of the enemy that appear randomly but I've run into problems. Firstly the enemies appear when you press space and the collision doesn't seem to work. I kind of thought you have to push the enemies into an array and hitTest that array right?
Actionscript Code: stop(); var ship_speed:Number = 10;var lazer_speed:Number = 20; var enemy_speed:Number = 8;var lazertimer:Number = 0; var basicenemy:Number = 0;var enemytime:Number = 0; var enID:Number = 0; var enemies:Array =[]onEnterFrame = function() { [Code] .....
I need to check if two (rather complex) arrays are exactly the same. I know that I can simply loop through everything & set a flag in case something is not the same, but I was wondering if there would be some easier way than this using a pre-built method?
Sorry if this is a little n00b-ish. I'm working in AS3. I've got an array of 8 buttons. I'm currently hiding the button that is clicked using e.currentTarget. How can I tell flash to make all the buttons that aren't the currentTarget to become visible (i.e. if a button has been hidden by previously being clicked, how do I tell it to become visible again when another button is clicked?)
but adding "removeDuplicates(aPeople);" after "createfile(thename);" has no effect: in other words, when I push the savefile button, it keeps creating clones of the same objects. What can I do?
I have a for-loop that creates instances / duplicates of a movie clip that works like a charm:
[Code]...
Then I position each instance- and I fill an array with the number ("pg"), because: I also have the option to switch to a different view and at that point I want / need the MoveClips to disappear. So I have a function tied to the switching that goes through a loop for all instances of the movieclip copies (using the array with the IDs from the example above) and remove them.
I am working on a project where there are 10 questions and user can answer the question or skip the questions. I want to track the number of questions (which questions) the users have skipped. I am adding the skipped questions in an Array. But if users click on the previous button and skips the same question again, the same question number is added twice to the skipped question Array. Is there any solution so that I could delete the duplicate entry in an Array.My Array looks like:skippedQuestionsArray(1,2,3,4,2,3,4,1);I simply want to trip the duplicate entry and get the output likeskippedQuestionsArray(1,2,3,4);
I made a little thing that has to do with badges. Theres 6 badges, and they load out with attachMovie. I want to be able to change the badges, so how would I be able to change things in an array? Like adding and removing numbers in it.
I'm wondering, when I remove the movie clips should I also be popping them from the array?
I have an onEnterFrame function that attaches the movie clips and pushes them into the array, so I'm worried that if I don't pop them the array will continue to increase in size and slow down the movie. Is this the case, or will they be automatically removed from the array by the removeMovieClip() method above?
Inside each dataInput is a button that sets the var "varSumNum" to 1 or 2, retain or dismiss respectively. If I set varSumNum to 2 the retain button will hide the corresponding circleMC, but the circles need to toggle visible/invisible individually. This works fine on circleMC1, but I can't get it to check the rest of the dataInputs and toggle their circles. To clarify further, it needs to check each dataInput and if 2 & 4 are set to 1 circle 2 & 4 are removed.

I have an array which I am populating as I navigate through the site. Sometimes due to cicumstances apparently out of my control, I end up with two (never more) duplicate values consecutively placed in my array, here is an example:
I need to run a script at all times that checks to see if this happens, and removes the second duplicate value, as well as it's corresponding key.How can I do this?
I have two arrays of objects. Each object has a unique name property besides few others. One of the array is a local copy and the other one is sent from server after regular intervals. The local copy of arrays is then used to add a movieclips into a container.Now, I want that when I receive an array from the server, I compare it with the one which is already with me locally such that the items which were not in the received array but were there in the local array, get removed from the container and the newly added ones only get added. The items which were present in both local and remote array remain as it is.
I'm trying to create a flash shooter game as my first project. But I can't remove the bullets and enemies when they are hit or off-screen.I've searched for a solution on the problem multiple times and copied about 4 of them (plus I've tried my own ideas) but they are not working.The current method of checking for collisions is:[code]How can I remove the enemies and bullets? removeChild and splice?
i followed this tutorial: http:[url]....and all has work out great however, then i go onto anouther frame how do i remove all movieclips from the created game arrays?
The scenario: in Main, instances of class Bullet are spawned and added to the stage, and to the array bltarray, instances of class Enemy are spawned, added to the stage, and added to nmearray. This works fine.
The problem comes in seemingly sporadically, i.e. it works, then suddenly doesn't work soon after, when it doesn't work I get spammed with output errors and the score display is constantly rising, note it's the same instance of bullet and enemy. [code]...
I noticed something dangerous while working with AS3 - some objects (namely DisplayObjects / MovieClips) tend to remain in the memory and even perform actions after all references to them have been removed.
I work with Flash CS 5.5 and Flash Builder 4.6.
After getting rid of all references (including removeChild(...) from the Document Class) some objects just seem to stay alive.
This question might come off as a bit broad - but what I am trying to understand is what can I do to MAKE SURE that an object is picked up by the Garbage Collector? More so, how can I get some sort of feedback from the GC that signifies that a certain object has been destroyed? (For example, a console message)
Is their a way to check if an event listener already exists to remove it? stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickdownfunction); Basically, I want to remove the listener, but sometimes it has already been removed, so I want to check if it exists and if it does, then remove it.
