I am trying to control the audio of an embedded video from a mute button. I can get the audio to play and the mute button to control the volume using the following script:

var my_nc:NetConnection=new NetConnection();
my_nc.connect(null);
var my_ns:NetStream=new NetStream(my_nc);

[code]....

The problem I am having with this is that the video is not appearing on the stage and when I place it on the stage the audio is playing twice. how I can get it to appear on the stage and still control the sound as the button is doing at the moment?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Controlling Different MovieClips In Different Levels?

Feb 4, 2011

I have a movieclip on the main timeline with instance name "rpm_display". Inside that movieclip I have another movieclip with instance name "dial_graphics". My actionscript is on this timeline. The tween that uses "dial_graphics" drives "rpm_digital.rpm_counter.text" to compute a value based on the tween position of "dial_graphics".

I need to move the movieclip "rpm_digital.rpm_counter.text" outside of movieclip "rpm_display", but it will not work when its on the main timeline. I have tried having it on the main timeline and putting the actionscript there too using "rpm_display.dialgraphics", but this did not work...

should i use _parent? Not too familiar with AS3.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Controlling Sound From Other Levels?

Apr 27, 2009

I now have my sound clip working in a container swf (level0).. Can I control this sound clip from other levels that have been loaded into level 1 from the container swf?Would it be something like

PHP Code:
_level0.mysound.setVolume(30);

If so, where do I name the music 'mysound'? I have simply dragged the music into the main timeline. Would it be better if I loaded it externally?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Controlling Multiple Levels Of Movieclips?

Jan 31, 2011

Background: Written a basic flash animation where a number of buttons control 8 signs, and each sign can have 3 different 'faces' There isn't one button per face, as each button can affect multiple faces. (i.e. button a changes signs 1 and 5 to faces x and y, button b changes signs 2 and 6 to faces q and z, etc)Each 'face' is made up of multiple 'sections', a bit like the rotating advertising boards or motorway signs, like this:(can't post links, don't have enough posts. Go to google images and search for this:rotapanel the_southit should be the first resultThis part isn't the problem, it works by having each 'section' as a separate symbol, and face symbols made of of either 4 or 5 of these section symbols. As the buttons are pressed, I hide and make visible the appropriate faces, and everything is good. The idea is that I can easily customise it later by switching out the underlying section symbols to update the whole thing, or create new 'faces' by combining the sections in different combinations. All nice and modular.

Now the problem: In order to try and make the thing look more realistic, I decided to animate the transition between faces by rotating the sections as vertical prisms (think of 4 or 5 toblerones stood on their ends, placed together to make a single surface. If you rotate them all about their centre points at the same time, you can create up 3 different 'faces').The animation is done and works fine, but the problem is controlling it. At the moment, each 'face transition' structure is this:

Face Trans. - Section Name(1) : Spin out animation: Static Graphic
________________________________Spin in animation: Static Graphic
____________- Section Name(2) : Spin out animation: Static Graphic

Media Server :: Fms 3.5.2 - Video / Audio Streaming Application - Audio Stops Or Lags Behind

Aug 25, 2009

I ran a simple live video streaming application for the first time with actual users and ran into a couple of serious performance issues that had not turned up during testing. In this instance there was one video stream from a live web cam and used FMLE at 150 kbps using VP6 and MP3 @22k. There were 16 clients and everything worked pretty good for about 30 minutes. (although some clients said their audio and video were out of sync by up to 3 seconds)

Then individual clients would have either the video freeze or the video would continue and the audio would stop. These clints had to "disconnect" and then "connect" again to the application. This happened to all of the clients at one time or another for several minutes. I stopped and restarted the FMLE with progessively lower bandwidth settings down to 75 kbps but still clients were having the same issue.

I eventually stopped the FMLE and used the applications built in publisher at 45 kbps and that seemed to eliminate the freeze/dropping issue. But of course the video quality was very poor and some clients still reported that the audio was out of sync with the video. The server hosting the FMS application is a quad processor dell with lots of memory and network connectivity. The Flash Media Admin Console performance graph showed the total Bandwidth as 3 Mbps at maximum.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Controlling Audio In Loaded SWF

Jan 23, 2009

I have several flash swf's that are about 10 - 20 min. each. I load these in a player that I have created as the user selects them from a menu in the main swf (a swf player basically). I can pause start and stop the swf's with no problem, but I can't seem to get a handle on controlling the audio. I have the audio in the loaded swf's timelines because I need to sync the audio with the animation taking place in those swfs. I could, take the audio out of the timeline (after syncing it), and then load it separately, but it would be much cleaner for me to just have it in the timeline.

I've resorted to the SoundMixer of the main swf to mute and change the volume, but I can't get hold of the Sound(), soundTransforms etc. of the loaded swf. To assign a play location for the soundChannel I need to access the loaded swf's Sound().Play() function, but I can't seem to do that. I have exported the timeline audio in it's actionscript, supplied a name (same as it's class name), and then tried to access it, but I can't seem to do it (yes I wrap the loaded.content variable in a MovieClip cast--that's how I can control the pause and play of the animation). Tutorials I have found only seem to work with sounds loaded into variables, and none refer accessing timeline sounds in a loaded swf.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Controlling Global Audio In My Project?

Apr 7, 2009

I'm working on a flash project consisting of 25 separate .swf file. each file has a audio narrative in it which is controlled by "play", "stop" button.the way my project works now is every time you unload a current .swf and load a new one, you have to press "play" to turn on the audio narrative. since there are 25 narratives in total, you can see how annoying having to press "play" every time you load a new movie would get.

what I am trying to do is add a global audio control in first "index" movie which would allow a user to globally turn the audio narrative "on" or "off".so for example, if they like to hear the narrative, they can turn audio on and have the audio start automatically each time a new .swf loads. if they choose to turn the audio "off", then the audio should not come on automatically.as a added twist to this, I would like to give my user an additional control over the audio by allowing them to use the "play", "stop" buttons within each of the .swf files.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Multi Video Player - Audio From The Last Video Remains Playing Even When Prompted To Stop??

Jun 2, 2010

I built a timeline based player with 2 menus and many videos that you can play.The buttons move the timeline to a frame label and the video plays. The back button has a stop function built in it so the video stops playing when its hit.It plays wonderfully locally but once on a server after a few clicks it boggs down and sometimes the audio from the last video remains playing even when prompted to stop. I was pointed to use the add and remove child functions to prevent this but being very new to Flash and 100% self taught i have zero idea on how to do this. The link to the player is[url]....Even if its a link to a tutorial or something.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Controlling The Speed Of A Video With A Slider?

Mar 8, 2012

I've been following/combining a few tutorials across the Internet. I'm looking at controlling the speed of a video with a slider. I've currently got the slider working and the video on stage but I'm a little unsure as to the algorithm required to make such a slider work. The video I want to control needs to move from half speed, 0.5-1 on left half of the bar and to double speed 1-2 on the right hand side of the bar.

The below is my code so far.

Code:
import flash.events.MouseEvent;import flash.events.Event;
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;

[Code].....

I'm looking for 1) an algorithm to slow/increase the speed and 2) a way to use the videoSpeed var to control the speed of a Movie Clip.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Controlling YouTube Video Sound Overriding Sandbox Restriction?

May 12, 2007

We are quite familiar with action scripting but are facing an awkward situation. We need to call different instances of youTube Video into our own swf and play them. Now as youTube video is from a different domain, the Flash sandbox restrictions naturally come into play. We are loading the youTube swf into a clip using the MovieClipLoader Class.

If we remove the instance using the removeMovieClip() command the video is removed but the sound continues. We have even tried the MovieClipLoader unloadClip() method but that too did not yield results.

We wish to be able to kill the sound object or atleast mute it so that it does not play even after the movie clip containing the video is removed. As the swf belongs to a different domain we are unable to control the sound object directly through script. We have even tried loading another youTube instance into the same movie clip after first removing it using the removeMovieClip() command, then creating it again, and finally loading the youTube instance using the MovieClipLoader class, but the earlier sound still continues to play even while the second clip sound also plays.
