I am a newbie in flash Action script2can anyone please tell me that how can i duplicate a movieclip to as much numbers i want through out the stage using actionscript2. i have searched lots of posts in sites but i can't get it
I have 26 letters(english alphabet) into a linkage movieclip(var let:Letter = new Letter() ) and I put a drag and drop function into the mc. My goal is to drag the movieclip leaving the original on its position. The reason why I want to duplicate is that when I spell a word with single vowels on it ex. "word" with single "o" that would have no problem. But when I spell a word ex. "banana" with 3 "a"`s there is where my problem is.
i am trying to populate an MC/text field via XML and the duplicate this underneath itself (in a loop) for how ever many lines of the xml there are.. Ive got quite far *in my humble opnion* but seem to have come unstuck on the looping and duplicating...
My code only duplicates the movieclip once - and the second movieclip is not populated (ie pulling data from the xml) only the first one is!..
Code: function loadXML(loaded) { if (loaded) { xmlNode = this.firstChild;
Currently I have a function that makes a movieclip copied from one specified in the GUI,moves it to a certain point on the stage, then ends. This is called several times to create various patterns etc on the stage.
I am basically trying to duplicate a movieclip by using a button.. (no probs there).however, i want to drag each movie clip individually.. ( my brain froze)here is my butchered code..// graphic is the mc i wanna drag, n is the textfield that i want to count up.
I'm working with a script that loads from an XML some jpgs, these ones once loaded move to their positions.
[Code]....
the problem is that i would like put all these movies well aligned in rows and columns, i've seen it's possible to do this with a nested for.. loop, something like this
how to duplicate a MovieClip 10 times using 'duplicateMovieClip'& place each instance of the new clip with equal spacing when the frame starts.. instance name of my MC on stage i.e. to b duplicated is bt_mc & it is the y position i.e is to b changed.
if you'll look at [URL] let it load and then click on FASHION. All goes well. Then click on HOME. All goes well. Now click on FASHION again. after you've done each card once duplicate movie clips start popping up, but I've not called any such function. Here's my code.
Code: import mx.transitions.Tween; import mx.transitions.easing.*; if (_root.nextCard == "Home") {
I have a movieClip(contentMC) that contains numerous movieClips for my site. I have set the color matrix of contentMC to be black & white. This works fine by itself but once I start duplicating and populating movieClips inside 'contentMC' the color matrix settings are lost.
[Code]...
I've even tried to populate the content and THEN turn it B/W thinking that it would be better to convert the contentMC to BW after it was done building itself. This didn't work either. So I started to comment out code until the color matrix settings would stick and this line of code is the killer but unfortunately is essential to rendering the site. contentSC.samplesMC.sample._y = contentSC.samplesMC.sample._y+621; (this line offsets a duplicated movieClip)
I have a question about movie clips. I have about 20 MC-s in my flash. Is it possible for me to duplicate one of them multiple times in specific location? I mean if I have button that says "DOG" and I press it, then new dog appears on screen. And I need to do it for like ten times or so
I'm trying to remove movieclips created at run time using "createEmptyMovieClip" but I'm having a problem calling the "removeMovieClip" function. The difficulty seems to be that the string that I assign as the instance name of the new movie clip doesn't actually refer to the created clip when I try to call"removeMovieClip".
So the "removeMovieClip" function doesn't work if the target name is pulled from the array. My guess is that this has something to do with the values of the array being strings...and it does when I manually type Apple.removeMovieClip(); in because Apple is the movieclip object name. How do call the "removeMovieClip"function using a var as the target?
I have various instances of a movieclip spread across 3D space. The user is able to navigate across the 3D space using the mouse or the arrow keys - I've used a style similar to the old school first person shooter games. Some of the objects on the stage are related so I want to connect them with a line to show their relationship. As all my objects are dynamically created through AS at runtime the relationships also need to be dynamically generated. As the user navigates around the 3D space the line between the objects needs to get redrawn.
In a 2D world I'd use the drawpath or moveTo/LineTo methods to join the movieclips and have a function on the onEnterFrame command of the 3D space to keep redrawing the line.However since this is a 3D world I need to take into account the z location of the movieclips as well as the x and y locations.how I could do this or even point me in the right direction to get started?
I'm trying to create a container movie clip, then inside that, create several other movieclips with an image in each and display them with an offset x.It does the offsetting but only displays the last one at the last x.When i dont put the clips in a container it works fine. but i want them in the container so that i can movie the container around on a press.
Heres the code:
var itemsArray = new Array("pic1.jpg", "pic2.jpg", "pic3.jpg", "pic4.jpg"); var clipArray = new Array(); _root.createEmptyMovieClip("carousel", this.getNextHighestDepth());
I want to use the same movieclips (some are button movieclips) but be able to have a function lay them out at runtime in two (or more) layouts. Just the _x and _y position like in this example:I'd like to layout the mcs with just actionscript. So it can be hardwired into the movie's script with parameters A yielding layout A, et cetera.
THE CODE ABOVE DOES NOT WORK ,I want to create 10 moveiclips each with unique name, which I can move around or maybe load things into later. At the moment the trace returns 'undefined' so the movieclips aren't even being created.

I have an animated character swc that is an empty skeleton basically (has all the body parts, animations, and functions/vars). I want to essentially put different clothes on that character at runtime so I don't have to have many copies of this character in my resources.
For example, I have 'skeleton' (the non-clothed model) and 'Bob', 'Jane', and 'Mary' characters. 'skeleton' is animated and fully works as an exported swc, and to get the other characters in their clothes/skins, I open up Flash CS5 and replace the movie clips with the 'clothed' versions of the components. To clarify,'skeleton' has "body parts" as movie clips that are all animated on the timeline, such as "head","face","left arm","right arm", etc. I open up 'Bob', who has the same exact design as 'skeleton', with the exception that 'Bob' has all the clothes and such as differently-designed movie clips. The size, shape, orientation, and reg points are all the same across all the components. After I've replaced all the movie clips in 'skeleton', I export it as a swc named 'Bob.swc' and I do this for all the characters.
What I'm asking is, how can I do this process ^, but at runtime instead, so I don't have all these duplicate root swcs ('skeleton' has a lot of frames on it) so I can cut down on a bunch of space? So I can do something like:
// bob gets all the actions and animations of skeleton var bob:UIMovieClip = new skeleton() // replace the body movieclip with a new looking one bob.body = resources.bodyassets['bob']['body']
I want to add MovieClips from the library at runtime onEnterFrame to create a trail behind the movieClip that is moving on stage: [Code]...
This just creates one instance of a movieClip "Follower". But how to make trail like effect - adding movieClips onEnter frame and positioning them according to "mcToFollow"?
I've seen the Loom project, but are there any alternatives that are more mature (and actively developed)? I am looking for something that would allow load-time weaving of pointcuts into existing binary code at runtime with the AVM2 runtime.
I've been into coding for about 5 years now, but I'm a recent convert to Flash development. One of the questions I have at the moment is, considering that SWF files can be run by either Adobe Flash Player OR Adobe AIR, what's the real difference between the two runtime environments? What API's and Objects exist in one environment, but not the other?
Basically what I'm more or less trying to establish is, when would I want to develop an SWF for AIR, and when would I want to develop for Flash Player, considering that Flash Player can also execute locally (providing support for creating "desktop applications")
Whenever I link a set of movieclips together with the bone tool which are inside a containing movieclip, and also set the type to "runtime" instead of "authortime", I get this error when published.
"Runtime symbols with skewed matrices should be wrapped in a movie clip" What does it mean? I need the type to be set to runtime so I can use scripting with it..
I am tring to create a movie clip in which different coloured birds are flying..I am tring to duplicate two or more MovieClips at the same time..but only either of them WorksHow should I modify the code so that I can achieve that ?
PHP Code: function birds() for(m=1; m<=10; m++) {firstEnem y= "bird"+1;
As the tittle suggests i have some trouble with Duplicating movieclips in a masklayer. The mask works but it wont duplicate. Also when i turn of the masklayer and use it as a normal layer the duplicate works perfectly. cant find any reason why it wont work.
I am working on an Augmented Reality project .. This is the code that is called when the marker makes contact with the webcam.
[Code]...
Every time I remove the marker and put it back in view .. this script is called and is causing the action to duplicate itself over and over each time the marker is present. How can I do some sort of check to see if this is already added so that it wont duplicate ?
