ActionScript 3.0 :: Duplicating Run-time Generated Movieclips?

Currently I have a function that makes a movieclip copied from one specified in the GUI,moves it to a certain point on the stage, then ends. This is called several times to create various patterns etc on the stage.

I am loading several images from XML to dynamically generated movieclips (mc_1, mc_2, mc_3...etc.). Then adding all of them into a parent MovieClip - imageContainerMc. So now, imageContainerMc holds mc_1, mc_2... etc. What I want to do next, is to Duplicate the imageContainerMc, and add both the instances on Stage-- addChild(imageContainerMc), addChild(imageContainerMc_duplicate).how can I duplicate a dynamically generated MovieClip?

I have 26 letters(english alphabet) into a linkage movieclip(var let:Letter = new Letter() ) and I put a drag and drop function into the mc. My goal is to drag the movieclip leaving the original on its position. The reason why I want to duplicate is that when I spell a word with single vowels on it ex. "word" with single "o" that would have no problem. But when I spell a word ex. "banana" with 3 "a"`s there is where my problem is.

i am trying to populate an MC/text field via XML and the duplicate this underneath itself (in a loop) for how ever many lines of the xml there are.. Ive got quite far *in my humble opnion* but seem to have come unstuck on the looping and duplicating...
My code only duplicates the movieclip once - and the second movieclip is not populated (ie pulling data from the xml) only the first one is!..

I have a movieClip(contentMC) that contains numerous movieClips for my site. I have set the color matrix of contentMC to be black & white. This works fine by itself but once I start duplicating and populating movieClips inside 'contentMC' the color matrix settings are lost.

I've even tried to populate the content and THEN turn it B/W thinking that it would be better to convert the contentMC to BW after it was done building itself. This didn't work either. So I started to comment out code until the color matrix settings would stick and this line of code is the killer but unfortunately is essential to rendering the site. contentSC.samplesMC.sample._y = contentSC.samplesMC.sample._y+621; (this line offsets a duplicated movieClip)

I have a question about movie clips. I have about 20 MC-s in my flash. Is it possible for me to duplicate one of them multiple times in specific location? I mean if I have button that says "DOG" and I press it, then new dog appears on screen. And I need to do it for like ten times or so

Iv'e been slowly moving over to AS3 in the past few months and I think I have learnt quite a considerable amout. However I am completly dumbstruck by the behaviour of the DisplayList. The kind of work I do requuires that the flash movies I make are timeline based (I know spitting in the face of OOP) because of the amount of animation used. However within these animations I also use snippets of ActionScript to have interactive moments such as drag and drops or tabs for the user to select a section. Now in these cases I as you would expect have to redepth some stuff (like the currently active panel of some tabs or currently active drag item etc). Using the display list I think is dead easy and I actually prefer it to the old Depth based system of ActionScript 2. This is where the odd problem starts.
On my stage I have 2 insences of the same MovieClip ("Clock1" and "Clock2") which has a child named "hand", also I have 2 text boxes just to dictate which movie is which. These clips and text are nothing special just author created in flash so no code involved for adding them to the display list.

I've tried to generate movieclips dynamically the method I have used does the following:
Uses a loop runs depending on how many movieclips I want to generate e
Each time the loop cycles it creating a new movieclip instance
Adds the new movieclip to an array
Uses method addChild to put moveclip on the stage then draws a rectangle
begins fill
ends fill
Adds it to that movieclip
I then use a conditional statement checking if the movieclip is the first item in the array if so it sets the current MovieClips x and y position to a chosen value. the first movieclip is used for a starting point to align the rest of the generated movieclips to. If not the movieclips x and y position are set to the previous array items x and y position + current movieclips width or height + the gap I would like them to have. Then the cycle repeats. I've coded this using timeline code and it works fine the shapes appear on the stage no errors. I tried to move this code off the timeline to an as file and the code has no errors but when run I just don't see the objects even if I trace there x and y positions I don't see them on the stage.

I have been able to draw rudimentary shapes on the main timeline by importing this class on the main timeline (first frame) and plugging in the requisite parameters.[code]When I have created movieclips without actionscript, then attached AS 2 classes to them I can manipulate them. If there is not a way that I can manipulate AS-generated clips on the main timeline, is this doable from within the class?

if you view my project you will see that it is a drag and drop application. You will also see two buttons at the bottom (I plan on adding more), when you click on a box it will add more objects to the menu. Heres where my question comes in, the box then says remove on it, I want the items that were added by clicking on the box to be removed as well as items added to the stage when you click on that same box again, how do I do this?

Is there a way to make many movieclips change the same way, off the same line of code.. rather than having to write them all out seperatly?
eg.
If this was the original code...

I'm a game developer and I have been (trying) to optimize an engine I'm making for my game. So far I have done almost every code trick there is (almost, because I'm not even close to be a professional programmer so I don't know how to do this perfectly )The game is working very smoothly now, I'm impressed, but its still generating some issues with MovieClips. When I load a new map, it loads up a movieclip that contains all the ingame objects (Screen). Inside, I add all the enemies, player and map elements I need. After that, I sort the index of the objects inside it by their position on Y.
While this works fine (using vector), my problem is that each map has like 30-40 movieclips (like doors, walls, etc), plus the player (another movieclip), plus some objects (20-30 movieclips), plus some enemies (10-40) movieclips... and when I move the camera (following the player), all the flash window area needs to refresh, and generates lag. If I only have the doors, walls and player, it runs ok... but when I start adding the enemies and other objects... Is there any efficient way to work with movieclips? Notice 90% of map elements like doors and walls are a movieclip with only one frame.

I am using the following code to simulate a volume control bar filling on vol+ and unfilling on vol-. The dragger is a mask that causes the fill to appear and disappear when the mouse is pressed and dragged on the volume controller. It works well, but I would like to add a "switch" that moves at the same time and in the same location as the fill, but on top of it... I created the movieClip for the switch and tried all kinds of variations to the following code with its instance in the code, but cant seem to get it working... below is the code which works with just the mask filling / unfilling.

I have a problem when few movieclips calls the same function, every movie clip when it is onMouseOver give to the function their properties witch function process.
If i OnMouseOver a few movieclips at the time the function cant calculate every movieclip alone... Maybe i have to put some array.. ??? i dont know..
On OnMouseOver the movieclips move i random direction and when i passes 15 seconds they return to their original place..
