ActionScript 2.0 :: ExternalInterface And Ajax, Old Xml Loads Not New?

Mar 23, 2010

I've used ExternalInterface.call for an onclick flash event to load some xml with XMLHttpRequest. the xml loads. but if i change the xml file on the server, the old xml file loads for the client, not the new one. i believe the problem is that the browsers are caching the results. i heard that this could usually be fixed by returning false from ur JavaScript onclick handler. but i dont have a JavaScript onclick handler, i have a flash onclick handler.

Ajax :: In Terms Of HTTP Request Performance Pick AJAX Or Flash?

Jul 19, 2011

In terms of HTTP request performance should I pick AJAX or Flash? To be more specific, I'm more into Flash than AJAX and I'm currently working on a wide scale web project. I wanted to try AJAX out for once and now it's getting too messy for me. Before it gets more complicated I thought may be I can run Flash on the background for HTTP Requests and use it with javascript. I couldn't find any benchmark on the Internet, but I think AJAX is faster than Flash. So what's your personal experience? Is there too much difference between Flash and AJAX?

Ajax :: FBJS AJAX.post Is Not Working After Permissions Dialog?

Feb 21, 2011

I have problems with facebook application based on flash which communicate with PHP using FBJS-bridge.When someone use the application for the first time, he/she is asked for various permissions. After that, flash contact PHP with ajax but request is never sent. When you refresh page, everything is working without any problems.If you remove the application on privacy settings, refresh the page and try again -same bug happens.If you allow application, refresh page, in other tab remove application and start application in previous tab - user is asked for permissions but everything is working after allowing application.This is FBJS code

function openPermissions(){
Facebook.showPermissionDialog(/*permissions string*/, permissionOnDone);[code]......

openPermissions is called to display permission dialog, and on allow flash function allow() is called. In flash, allow() calls JS function ajaxCall(), which should make ajax request. But, ajax.post never sends request. I know that for sure, because flash function parseAjax was never called and also debugging tools in browsers are not showing any ajax requests. URL and parameters are same as when it is working. No flash or JS errors are detected...

ActionScript 2.0 :: HTML Loads A Preloader That Then Loads The Actual Flash Movie?

Mar 28, 2009

Everything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:

on(release) {
loadMovie("new_movie.swf", 0);
}

The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.

ActionScript 2.0 :: When The Xml Menu Loads Swf File Its Structure Loads But Not Its Data?

Feb 23, 2010

have this flash xml menu that loads external swf files like this:

Code:
<item title="ABOUT"content_path="http://mysite.com/folder1/folder2/folder3/about.swf"target=""mouse_rollover_color="0xFFFFFF" mouse_rollout_color="0xDDDDDD" />

and I have this swf file with cms that I'd like for this menu to load. Currently the swf file load external text using this code:

Code:
if (contenturl1 ne "") {
loadVariablesNum(contenturl1 + "/" + userid + "/content.txt", 0);[code].....

but when the xml menu loads this swf file its structure loads but not its data.I tried using :

Code:
this._lockroot = true;

in the loading swf main time line but it did not work.I should also mention that the dynamic data that loads onto the swf that is to be loaded by the menu, resides not in it main time line but 4 movie clips deep .I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Have An Animated Logo Swf File That Loads And Runs Once On The Home Page Every Time The Page Loads?

Jun 25, 2009

I have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Use Ajax From Flash?

Mar 25, 2010

is ajax/ javascript functions accessible from flash? in games like those at mindjolt it is irritatitng to wait for the flash file to load and initizalize  and then have the page change to the scores page again

i was windering if its possible to use ajax from flash? so the flash game sendds the score/ result to the page and only parts of it change, (developers can even choose to force pause the game for 5 seconds so the user registers/ submits score etc)

and then can continue. now what happens in page changes, then you need to return to the page and wait for flash swf file to load again ...

Asp.net :: Flex - How To User Frames With 2.0 OR AJAX

Jan 7, 2010

How do I keep the menu static so the animations do not refresh with page clicks? Example would be like a 'frames' but within ASP.NET 2.0... Do I use the old HTML Iframes approach?? Or can I use something more contemporary using AJAX or something like that? This one stumps me... Should I user custom controls or AJAX ??Among other things, I'd like to change the menu swf based on security role of user in ASP.net 2.0, so I would need to pass variables to Flex / Flash application.

Php :: Process AJAX Requests More Securely ?

Mar 19, 2010

I want to send AJAX requests to my website from my Flash games to process data, but I don't want people downloading them, decompiling them, then sending fake requests to be processed, so I'm trying to figure out the most secure way to process in the PHP files. My first idea was to use Apache's built in Authorization module to require a username and password to access the pages on a separate subdomain of my website, but then you'd have to include that username and password in the AJAX request anyway so that seems kind of pointless to even try.My current option looks pretty promising but I want to make sure it will work. Basically it just checks the IP address being sent using REMOTE_ADDR to make sure it's the IP address that my server runs on.

<?
$allowed = new Array("64.120.211.89", "64.120.211.90");
if (!in_array($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'], $allowed)) header("HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden");
?>

Both of those IP addresses point to my server. Things I'm worried about:

1) If I send a request from Flash/ActionScript, will that affect the IP address in any way?

2) Is it possible for malicious users to change the IP address that is being sent with REMOTE_ADDR to one of my IP addresses?

Javascript :: AJAX And Playing A Sound Once

Nov 25, 2011

We have a website which displays status updates throughout our various facilities (they all have LCDs with a fullscreen IE page I point it to). Right now I go to my management page with a WYSIWYG-editor, type in the messages/updates, which saves it to a .txt file (alert.txt) and it updates the page on the screens via AJAX. The page on the screens checks for updates at a set interval of 5 seconds. What I want to do now is play a sound to alert when an update is given (the screen only displays critical network errors and such)[code]I've tried adding the sound clip via an embed HTML code (created a Flash object that plays it once upon loading the Flash object) to the text file, but this causes it to play once every iteration. Even if there are no changes.

Ajax :: Override Link Click With OnRelease?

Nov 20, 2009

I've got sIFR setup to replace a navigation menu (looks pretty slick). It's individually replacing the LIs and their internal links. I have an onRelease tag that throws properly, extracts the actual href link address, all good so far. I want to tie this into an AJAX page loader, with backwards-compatability (+SEO) for the individual pages being able to load themselves. I've tried return false like I would for standard links, no dice.

I'm assuming it doesn't work because it's onRelease, not onClick or something BEFORE it is already changing the page? onClick doesn't seem to be a valid sIFR function, documentation at [URL] onRollOver, onRollOut, and onRelease.

Javascript :: AJAX Or Something Else For A Web-based Demo Interface?

Dec 3, 2009

My company has some software which we use to acquire data and interact with some hardware. If we wanted to put a mockup on a website which allows the user to get a feel for the UI (gather some data, change some settings etc.), what are some good methods to do so?I'm thinking either some clever javascript or flash. I've done some JS before but only to style elements of a page. I did some stuff with flash about 8 years ago and found it really fiddly.

So my questions; Are javascript/flash reasonable solutions for this or is there something better. What is likely to be the simpler/quicker route? Is there a better way to achieve the end result?] The demo doesn't need real data, just some fake/dummy example stuff is fine.

Web Development / Flash Making AJAX Requests?

Dec 4, 2009

The main top section of the site is a little Flash thing that has buttons as links to different areas of the site. All of that is well and good, but whenever I click those links, it has to reload the entire page (including the Flash app) when only the bottom part changes. This isn't really a huge issue, since everything's real small, but it's kind of annoying.I vaguely remember "fixing" this behavior using AJAX during my web programming class, but that was just straight HTML and Javascript, no Flash players to muck around with.My question is, how do I overcome having to reload the entire page when someone clicks a link from the Flash object? Is there some nice way I can call something other than getURL() to achieve this effect?

Javascript :: Executing SWFObject With Ajax Reloads

Jan 12, 2010

For my current project I am working on a home page that has a series of tabs above a content box that each execute an ajax script to load new content into the content box. However, some of these pages contain a flash object called with SWFObject and when the ajax script calls the page, the SWFObject javascript is not executed and I am left with the no flash support error message.

I have tried defining a function for each video call (short of just designing a single function and passing variables to it) and having the function be called as part of the ajax function but I am left with the same results. I am not opposed to using something other than SWFObject though I have been lead to believe it is the best solution currently.

Ajax :: Calling WCF Service From Action Script 2?

Apr 1, 2010

I am a .NET programmer working with a Flash designer on a project. The design is that they will create a flash UI (implemented with AS2) to present a questionnaire. After it is completed by an end user, the will send me (a .net web service of some form) the answers to the questionnaire, I will perform a calculation, and I will send a response back (the response will likely be a single integer, though it may be a touple of (integer score, string description).

Neither myself nor the designer is knowledgeable of Action Script. Does anyone have a snippet for such web service calls in AS2? Are there any soap libraries for AS2 that we could use, or should I expose a RESTful interface? Can it be as simple as having the designer concat the questionnaire answers into the query string of the service URL? What would be a typical data format for my response (xml, json, plain text)
