Can you not initiate events with jps and loaded clips?

I am trying just to do a basic roll over function and its not working

I have a main movie called home.fla. In this movie I only have one frame and I have place 5 different movie clips (not SWF) on this frame at different positions but on the same layer. These five movie clips are named mc_main1, c_main2.Each of these movie clips contains 5 frames, with a button on each frame. Each of these buttons also has a movie clip inside them (mc_sub1 mc_sub5). You can only go from frame 1 to frame 2 of each clip (main1, main2 etc.) my clicking on the button on frame1.The user can go to any of the main movie clips in whichever sequence they want. For example, they can choose to go to clip main3 and click on it twice (this will take the user till frame 3 of main3 and play the movie clip that is inside frame3) and then they can decide to click on main1 once and then main4 three times until they have visited all the parts of (all the 25 mc_sub) all the movie clips (main1 main5).

Once the user has visited all the 25 mc_sub i.e. once they have finished going thru all the 5 main movie clips completely, I want to display an animation (mc_animation) on the frame1 or any other frame of the home.fla movie.Is there away to determine if the user has finished watching all the 25 mc_sub i.e. if the user has gone thru each and every frame of each of the mc_main movieclips.I think the problem is that since the user can select any of the mc_main clips in any sequence, I am finding it difficult to determine when they have finished going through everything. If it was all in a sequence then I know I could have calculated if the current frame is equal to total frames and then I would have displayed the animation if the above was true; but that is not the case here.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Button Events Within Movie Clips?

I have made buttons within movie clips as I want the buttons to fade in from alpha 0-100. Also, the buttons have an Over state, so when you hover over the button the colour of the button changes from maroon to grey.I originally used this code to link from one frame page to another:

on (release) {
gotoAndStop(3);
}

however it just made the button disappear, so I tried using frame labels instead with the following code:

on (release) {
_root.gotoAndStop("menuLabel");
}

The above code allowed the button to link from one frame page to another, however the only problem is that it has somehow stopped the mouse Over event from working (the maroon to grey).I have used the following code to correct the mouse Over event error, but now the button itself isn't going to the specified frame.

IDE :: Mouse Events And Overlapping Movie Clips

If two or move movie clips overlap, everything underneath the top movie clip does not seem to receive mouse events. I tried many things, including setting ".mouseEnabled = false;" on the top movie clip and its constituents, but it still eats up all mouse interaction. Is there a way around this? Listening to all mouse events and using hitTest is not an option in my case.

I have a project in AS2, and my question for that was posted in AS2 thread. But in the meantime, I was considering switching the project entirely to AS3 because AS2 is giving me a headache.

Basically what I need to have is this:

When you rollover the btn "learn how" a toggle window expands and a countdown movie clip starts. When you roll off the btn, the window and movie clip will both disappear. That works perfect. The next part is what is tricky for me. (to better make sense of it, the countdown is there as prep to a graphic movie clip. So if the user sees the countdown and decides they dont want to see the graphic movie, they can simply rollout with the mouse and the clip will go away.

Now...if the countdown plays all the way through... I need the second movie clip to start. The tricky part, is that when that movie clip starts.. it should no longer have the rollout mouse function. I need it to stay there unless the user clicks an Exit out button.. which I haven't done yet, because I have no idea if I can even get that far.

I have a _parent movieclip that receives mouse events and I want the clips inside the _parent clip (child clips) to receive mouse events also, but because of the _parent's mouse event handlers, the child clips are "interfered" with, or not received....how do I make it so both the _parent and the child clips can receive mouse events?

I am able to disable mouse events on a movie clip with a single frame using the mouseEnable property and setting it to false.However if the movie clip contains multiple frames setting the property to false does not disable the mouse events.Do I need to disable for each frame of the clip? Or is this outside the box for movie clips.I have tried .enable and .mouseChildren to false also.I have alternatives to what I am trying to do so I am trying to determine if I am missing something.this is basically my code, this code will ignore events if I change the movie clip to a single frame.The multiple frame movie clip is made up of 5 frames of bitmap symbols and functions properly.

after several hours tinkering I've set up a movie to initiate a set of actions triggered by a movieclips _x position. Im using Math.round to keep my intergers whole and im using ease on my movie clip. If the movie clip starts at 0,0 and the buttons are hit 1,2,3,4 everything is fine, but hit the buttons out of order (2,4,1,3) or set the start point of the mc to anything but 0,0 and the movie becomes a mess.I don't understand what im doing wrong. I tried some simple loop commands and my comp just locked up repeatedly so I broke down and used frameloops, it's closer to complete but still so far

A swf (my game framework) loads another swf (a game). The game is loaded into a child domain which seems to be the default domain for loaded swfs.

The framework listens for custom events bubbling up from the game. However, the framework only receives events dispatched directly from the games document class but not from any of the games children.

Bubbling is set to true on everything, but it's not working? Is it only possible to dispatch events from the document class of the loaded swf.

swf(Framework -> listen) -> swf(game document root -> child) = no go!

Flash Talk To Html To Initiate Button?

I was wondering how to accomplish this. I have a .swf embedded into an html file with html links on the top. Within the .swf file I have a continue button that takes the user through all the frames. Is it possible to include some kind of code so that when they reach the end of the .swf the "next" link will become initiated and take the user to the next .html page. I am working with captivate is this feature in captivate? If anyone could point me in the right direction or share some wisdom it would really make my day

I have an app that when it starts loads up about 200 small gif images from the web server.  Code looks something like this:

This worked fine in testing for a few dozen images.  But now I'm running it with about 200 images, and about half the images load fine but the other half I get an error:
 
Error 2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent.
 
Each time I run it, different images succeed and fail.  This gives me the sense that I have somehow reached a limit on either the number of concurrent URLRequest threads that Flash can run, or the number of concurrent HTTP requests that the image server can handle... or maybe there is a timeout on Loader that I can make longer?

I have a product demo in Flash that's roughly 1MB in size. When people access a page that this demo lives on, the demo doesn't visibly "appear" until over half of the total bytes have already been loaded..You can see this by clicking here, and seeing that by the time the swf materializes on the screen, the preloader progress bar is already over 50% (or so).How can I fix it so that at least something shows up right away, so that the user isn't staring at a blank screen for 30 seconds? The preloader seems to work ok.

I am loading an external SWF using the Loader class, and adding it to the stage with addChild.When trying to add a mouse click event listener to the MovieClip, using addEventListener, nothing happens, the event never fires.Is there a specific way to add listeners to externally loaded movie clips?My code looks somewhat like this:

var target:MovieClip = assets["screensaver"] as MovieClip;
target.root.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClickScreenSaver, true);
addChild(target);

The target shows up on the display, but the CLICK event is completely ignored.

This isn't an exact duplicate of AS3: add event listener to loaded swf, actually it seems to be a mirror situation with non-mirror solution..

I have a test flash file that registers its own listener at first frame's actions.

trace("it's going to be OK");
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, aKey);

Unfortunately neither line works when .swf is loaded into another movie. Assuming that stage object is wrong for such situations, which object should be used to get listener?

Is it necessary to rewrite loader in parent swf, as said in the linked question?

I have a module, which is a simple swf file to load.

Inside there, in a modules document class I have a code like:

ActionScript Code:
buttonMode = true;
useHandCursor = true;

When I load the module, I can see the drawn background with proper sizes. However, the cursor is not hand (useHandCursor) and mouse events are not dispatched. They are only dispatched on some children of the document class, not on itself, on its own background. ANd the hand cursor is only over the children, not over the document class' background itself again.

The document class of the module extends Sprite.

I have a timeline, with an instance iDropZone. I am loading an SWF into that instance. The .swf that i'm loading has an OnClip (MouseUp) event in its Action script. Which i use to open a new browser window when the clip is clicked. When I run the swf by itself it works fine, but when I load it into my main movie, the blank window opens even if I click outside of the iDropZone. I understand that it has to do with the path to target. But Flash gives me an error when i do _root.iDropZone.OnClipEvent....

Now I find out after completely rebuilding this thing that AS2 content gets stuck in Flash Player 9's memory and won't erase on Loader.unload. All my work from years back is in AS2.
