ActionScript 2.0 :: Obj.onKeyUp = Function(); OnKeyUp Event: Different Behaivour In Different Browser
Nov 11, 2009
My current scenario: Playing flash movie in browser. About the flash movie: Few buttons on left hand side like vertical menu. MediaPlayBack component in remaining area. when clicked on any of the button on left side, respective video plays in the play back component. Simultaneously movie goes "FullScreen". I have called a function which causes movie to go fullscreen. Also there is another button to toggle "FullScreen". In fullscreen mode of movie stage scale mode is set to "noScale". (stage size is 800x600.) Size of MediaPlayBack component is set more than stage size. (920x725). B'coz video that I am playing is 800x600.
I've been using this site for a while and this is my first post. Recently, I've had some trouble using the onKeyUp handlers. It's really strange and I'm not sure whether it's a bug in the way I've lay out my code or the player itself.
But, whenever I used getAscii() or getCode() methods of using the keys to basically make stuff move, the first second of movement is really jittery. It'll move, pause still, then move properly. I don't get why though, it's the same code I've used in the same layoutof (Key.isDown(Key.etc...)) codes and those worked fine.
1021: Duplicate function definition function onComplete1(event:Event):void { 1021: Duplicate function definition function stopSound1(event:MouseEvent):void { 1021: Duplicate function definition function backSound1(event:MouseEvent):void {
codes i used:
Code: var thereReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest("SOUNDS/how.mp3"); var there:Sound = new Sound(); var thereControl:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel();
Trying to detect a browser close event and send some data to the database when the user closes the browser window...but can't seem to get it to work.[code]
I'm moving on to my next massive programming project and I'm trying to decide whether I should code it in as 2.0 or 3.0. I came across the new click event model in 3.0. Right now it's looking like a pain in the butt to me. So now I have to make a function and add it as an event listener? what the hell? What's the benefit? I understand stuff like this makes AS a more complete language but it's kinda annoying.
I have some mouseclick event, and within the function that handles this event there's a combobox appearing. after the combobox appeared, I want to be directed to another listevent which is triggered when there's a change in the selection, but, I also want to pass the previous mouseclick event for there is some information in that event that I want to use within the listevent handling function.
As I understand, you cannot pass parameters along to eventhandlers, so I was wondering what is the best way to operate in this case. I've read you can make custom events, but never saw an event passed as a parameter, and was wondering if that's even possible.
I have a question about making a function for two different kinds of event. It's not critical but I would like to reduce my lines of code and just be more efficient. Basically I have a button on the stage called "Enter". I also want the user to have the option of hitting the enter button. I don't have a problem making these two separate handlers for these events (i.e. one handler for the KeyboardEvent and one handler for the MouseEvent):
I need to return to my original function after capturing an event (downloading something) with another function. The original function needs to return a value, which depends on the downloaded data. So, I'd like to pause original function for the time needed for the download and the eventhandler function to complete it's work, and resume it afterwards.
The obvious way is to set a flag value (both the original function and the eventhandler are within the same class) and make the original function check it until the eventhandler function changes the flag. But that would be wasteful, and my AS is slow enough already:) [other parts of the application utilise some heavy graphics]. Is there another way? Like an event that gets captured "in the middle" of the function? Or some other form of flow control?
so today my question is how can we have 1 function triggered by both a Timer event and a Mouse event? 'm trying to avoid having to re-write/re-name a function just because I also have a Mouse event that triggers it and not just a Timer event.
Issue:
I have a addThis bubble fade in with icons on a button rollover, the addThis bubble will fade out after the timer is finished, but I also have a close button in that bubble which needs to use the same function that the timer uses. (want to avoid writing 2 exactly alike functions)
I'm hoping this there is an easy workaround for this like event:null or something.[code]./...
I'm using hotkeys (ctrl + key) in my flex application. getting problem when my app is running in IE.when i press ctrl+D, im getting 'Add a Favorite' window of iE.How should i override the default behaviour of the browser.
I want to do something very similar to the resizing effect on this website. [URL]. Basically if you resize the browser, it seems like it's programmed to only display/load/transition in the images once the user lets go of the mouse and the browser is done moving. I would like to know if there is a Resize on mouse release event or a work around to do this. Currently my images keep refreshing every time you drag/resize the browser screen, before you let go of the mouse. So basically while your dragging the browser window size to different size it keeps reloading and updating the images. I want it to reload and update the images once the user is done dragging and resizing the browser.
I have a flash element in a page that load a chart based on some complex queries that can take up to a minute to load. I call the query with this code :
var chartData:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); chartData.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded); chartData.addEventListener("httpStatus", onHttpStatus);
This works beatifully when I am running a test movie on my computer, and even the fully published SWF. But when I load it on the web server, and run it in a browser. This doesn't do anything. Once the audio is done, nothing happens.
Is there a reason why a keyboard event listener would not work if the flash is embedded in an HTML? The rest of my game is running fine in the background, but I can't launch the movieClip "nextCar." My code is below, if that makes any difference...
function goNow (event:KeyboardEvent): void { thisOtherKey = event.keyCode; if (thisOtherKey == 32) { nextCar.gotoAndPlay(2); parkingQue.play(); tries++; }}stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, goNow);
I have an RTMP stream loading and would like to know the drop off time of the video. Is there a method of knowing when a person abruptly leaves the video session by closing the window, back button, address bar, etc?Or do i need to make an external interface call from JavaScript to Flash using something like onunload & onbeforeunload events?I am guessing that it is the later, but wanted to see if there was a method of keeping all my code inside of AS3.
I have a full screen flex application and I want the user to be able to scroll using browser scrollbars. I don't need mousewheel in the flex application and flex appears to block mousewheel events within itself. So mousewheel events do nothing.
For example, Lets say I have a flash swf game, and when users press connect they are assigned a random id that's then put into a mysql table. Then I have other users that connect and then can connect to these random ids. When users click disconnect i have the id taken out of the table that way when other people want to connect they dont get ids that arent active. is it possible that when a window is closed to have it run a php script? so i can get it to clear their user id?
I have a MouseEvent.MOUSE_WHEEL eventlistener setup for a custom scrollbar component that allows the wheel to control the scrolling up or down.Inside the Flash dev environment when I test the flash app it works fine. However, when I test the app inside a web browser ( which has its own vertical scrollbar ) the mouse wheel controls both the scrollbar in my flash app and the scrollbar in the browser.Is there a way to setup the eventlistener on my scrollbar that it prevents the MOUSE_WHEEL event from bubbling up to the browser?
Forgive me for this stupid noob question but I want to call a function (loadList) that originally gets triggered after a mouseevent from another function (addToXML) that does not have an event.
The loadList function takes info from a XML var, sticks it into an array which then gets loaded into a tile list and that is working fine.
The addToXML function when called adds elements to the XML var after which I want to call the first function with the event parameter so it refreshes the items in the tile list.
I know it can do this by creating a new array and loading that into the tile list in the addToXML function, but it be much simpler to just recall the function.
but all the event constants I have tried give me error messges like "1061: Call to a possibly undefined method addEventListener through a reference with static type Function."
I have a button with some transition/easing on it...and a geturl function. However there is something weird happening, when the button is clicked, it sees the geturl alright, and the browser opens...but cant seem to get any further than that! [code]...
I'm having an issue with getting external .swf's to load and position properly in my full browser flash site. I used a template I created for an XML slideshow which worked perfectly, but now the positioning and stage listener doesn't seem to work properly.
Here is the AS in frame one of the stage. Content is to be externally loaded into an MC called "container". The problem is, the container is not showing up initially until I resize the browser or .swf window, and when it does show up, the registration point is all wrong. I put the loadMovie script on a button since it was not loading at all with a simple loadMovie script on a keyframe. This seems to load the movie properly, but once it's loaded, not only is it positioned to the bottom right of the screen, it doesn't move at all when I resize the browser!
[AS] /////////////// Full Browser Control //no scale stop(); Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
I have a Flex client application. I need a clean up function to run in Flex when the user closes the browser. I found the following solution on the net, but it only works half-way for me. How could I fix it?CustomEvent triggered, but not executed. >> EventHandler for CustomEvent.SEND_EVENTS is defined by a Mate EventMap. All the handler does is to call an HTTPServiceInvoker. In debug console, I'm able to see the handler and HTTPServiceInvoker being triggered, but neither the resultHandlers nor the faultHandlers were called. I know this event handler has no problem because when I dispatch the same CustomEvent.SEND_EVENTS in a button click handler, it behaves exactly as I expected)Browser seems to wait for cleanUp function to complete before it closes. (all traces were printed before browser closes down)
Code I added the following into the index.template.html window.onbeforeunload = clean_up;
