I am currently storing the items of this array as a variable. thats cool, but what I want to do is remove the b so I get 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 instead of b1 b2 b3 b4 etc.

I have an array of questions for an interactive quiz game. When you answer a question, functionally I want that question to be removed from the array (cat4Questions) so that it won't come back for the player so I tried to splice it.I wasn't sure if it was working so I traced the array. So I'm getting strange results when trying to remove the first item in my array. When I remove the first item by using the shift() method, it deletes the whole array instead of just the first item.

Here is my code.

When I run the program it correctly shuffles the deck array and pushes all the shuffled items into the shuffledDeck Array. Then the first 26 cards get pushed into the playerDeck Array and the rest go to the computerDeck Array.

When the last bit of code runs, it correctly picks the first item in the playerDeck Array, but when I try to remove that item, it removes everything in playerDeck.

I am working on a project where there are 10 questions and user can answer the question or skip the questions. I want to track the number of questions (which questions) the users have skipped. I am adding the skipped questions in an Array. But if users click on the previous button and skips the same question again, the same question number is added twice to the skipped question Array. Let's say I wanted to randomly remove an item from an array in a for loop.

Basically, it would go something like;

thearray = ["lol", "dude", "ROFL", "lame", "excellent"]
for (i=0; i<4; i++) {
randomness = random(thearray.length())
thearray.remove [randomness]
}

Obviously that last line was made up, that's where the code goes for the item-removal.

I have used a method to shuffle a part of a Array, but i noticed that it does not work very well.When i run this method I sometimes get empty array values.So if you would try the example below and test it out some times you would get a right result but sometimes a wrong result.For example when i run this i get in my trace output:

I have a flash movie in which I've created something that functions similarly to a calculator. When the user clicks a button, depending which button was pressed and in which order, a series of movie clips is displayed from left to right in specific positions, using addChild. I have a button on the calculator which I would like to have function similarly to a 'clear' button on a real calculator. When clicked, it would remove only the movie clips that were displayed by clicking the calculator buttons. how I can remove only the movieclips that are part of the calculator display? Here are some

I've tried different variations of removeChild and removeChildAt, but either parts of the calculator are getting removed, or I remove the parts of the display one clip at a time instead of all together, or I get out of range errors. How do I target a certain range of movieclips to remove? Do I need to assign a specific range of levels when the new movieclips are added and then remove that range? It will be different number of clips and combination of clips every time.

I know how to remove duplicates from an array, but what I'm trying to do is prevent an item from ever being added to an array in the first place if it already exists. I'm pulling in data from an xml feed in a loop, and I thought that searching for that values index would work, but no matter what, the index is always -1. Here's my code:

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the indexOf function, but I thought it was supposed to return -1 if a value did not exist in an array. What am I doing wrong?

I'm currently using a flash template for my online portfolio, but I've noticed that if you right click anywhere, it brings up the standard flash right-click menu with the following items:

Settings
Global Settings
About Flash Player 10

But directly above is a separate menu item that says "Made by JWD" and that takes you to a different website if you click it. I have the .fla file for the gallery - can I remove this menu item?

I would like to use the AS "for each" syntax to loop over a collection of items. Within the loop I sometimes need to remove an item from the collection I am iterating over.

Using a "for" loop, I would code this like (note the "--" operator to move the index back):

ac.removeItemAt(n--);

Is it also possible to do something similar using a "for each" construct?

I'm using the .unshift method therefore the newest values go into [0] and the rest are pushed down.

What is a good method to remove a value from an array once it has passed a certain length? For example i only want my array to hold 5 values.

Also, is there a method for clearing the entire array, ie removing all values? Or will i have to manually change all the values with a loop?

in a flash template i found several buttons with almost the same action script code. on pressing the button a window popup with different text (for each button a unique text). the following code is in the code section of the buttons, only the two last codelines are different for each button.

so i think that the input of the unique text for each button is handled in the last line "_root.READ = 22". i also found in the bibliothek the belonging text parts. my problem now is that i dont know where the connection is set between the text part and the array/variable READ. in this case the connection is 22, but i dont found any property in the text part or in the property of the button where the connection is set to 22. i use flash cs4.
