View 2 RepliesOkay, now things are getting a little complicated. I need to build a Flash object that can sit over the corner of an image to serve extra content. It's way beyond my Flash skill level, my work is usually limited to print work in Photoshop and Illustrator so please excuse me if any of the following isn't clear. I am trying to learn though, So this is how it's all supposed to work, along with my issues; When the image & Flash item load a small looping animation will play to draw the eye/show the item as interactive.
When the user rolls over this the corner will peelback. I have a working peelback animation for the rollover, that reacts to mouse over/mouse off, and a looping animation for the initial, but I cannot work out how to make the initial loop until mouseover, then play the peelback when the mouse is over. And go back to the initial animation loop if the user rolls off. (Each of these animations is stored as a movie clip in the Library)
Then it gets more complicated... if the user stays on the corner until it is fully peeled back I need to make a small countdown (sort of a 3, 2, 1 situation) show, before launching a lightbox (would this have to be jQuery, or could it be done in Flash?) in the browser to serve the content.

I have been trying to build a navigation that has a rollout animation but functioning internal buttons. This navigation uses the theory I'm trying to recreate, it seems simple enough but I can't figure it out for the life of me![URL] I tried this variable, but it renders the internal buttons undetectable and is very unstable midanimation (if you rollover it while in transit, the button goes crazy):

I'm trying to create flash rollovers for buttons that play the full rollover animation even if you roll of it, and if you stay on it if will play once and not keep repeating. The rollover animation is only short, about 2 seconds, but which ever way I try it I can't get it to play the full clip if you roll off, either that or it will play the full clip but keep repeating if you keep the mouse on it.
At the moment it is just a movieclip in a rollover keyframe of a button.This has stumped me for years. Other sites seem to do it fine (off the top of my head the 4 menu rollovers at the bottom of http:[url].... do it - if you rollover each one left to right in one go they do a kind of Mexican wave) but I just can't see a way of doing it.
The animation/rollover works well but it still abruptly stops when I rollover another button. The link below is an example on what I want to accomplish.

I have added a sound to the rollover of a movieclip button and it works fine as I navigate forward through the site, but when I jump backwards the sound starts repeating and it multiplies by the number of times I go back. I have put the sound in using the properties palette and am wondering if there is a simple way to add some AS3 code to the rollover function. I'm sure it is a simple fix, but I'm no AS3 master by any stretch. Below is my current button code. Can I just add code to the 'onRollOverHandler' function?

I've created a rotating navigation menu with 4 parts/submenus. To make the rotation/spinning graphics look smoother On rollover of one of the submenu/movieclip (the rotation will stop and continue on rollout), it should hide/decrease the alpha of other submenus, so a rollover effect could be seen. I've already tried with this:

But when on mouse rollout, the hovered submenu/movieclip does not continue to rotate.
I am having trouble with a job I am doing at the moment which has an mc with buttons within it. I want it so that when I roll over the mc it tweens from a small version to a larger version, and on this mc there are some buttons. At the moment I can get the mc to move but the buttons remain inactive and also the rollover states on the buttons don't work. I have attached a simpler version of what I am trying to do to this post.

View 1 RepliesI'm creating a menu system, the text buttons should, on rollover, move all buttons to the left (of the button currently rolled over) 100 pixels, in the gap created a sub menu running vertically will appear which will break into a 2nd horizontal submenu etc. I'm still in the early stages, and have hit a stumbling block, I placed a trace (this); cmd in root of the roll over function then again in each segement of the IF/ELSE loop inside that fuction. The trace CMD in the root of the rollover gives me the feed back _level0.btn1 or 2 or what ever button I have rolled over but the ones inside the IF/ELSE loop all say _level0.btn0 regardless of the button I roll over!

I'm trying to create 6 menu buttons (all text) that when you click one, a submenu drops down (more lines of text - that fade in individually).

What I'm having trouble with is figuring out how to get this submenu to "close back up" (animation) when someone clicks one of the other main menus (Colors or Locations, in this example.)
How can I get it to perform this animation BEFORE it navigates to the next menu section?

i have an animation that its something like a safety lock that make an entire loop, so i want some script that when i click lets say "about" it goes to "about" and stop, and them when i click lest say "contact" the animation goes to contact but without start over, i mean, i want to that to start from the last point, i dont know how do it in action script?on realease if is at "frame name" goto and play "frame name", and stop at "frame name".

So it is sort of the sun and the rest are the planets... This obviously has something to do with swapDepths, but I am not to good at AS and I can't figure out how to do it!

I wish to make the green spheres each a seperate button, so that when you click one of them it falls from the group and the camera follows it (the camera, when following its fall, should also center it)... I have a sliding menu (who doesn't these days? ) at the bottom of my screen. When you mouse over the menu it pops up and as it does it triggers an animation of a moving object. The moving object starts "off screen", comes sliding in and comes to a rest in the middle of the menu. The object has buttons on it. What I'd like to do is when a user clicks the button it loads content onto the main stage. Then either after clicking the button or mousing off the menu the object animation will continue on it's merry way out of view (off the menu).Everything works great except I can't get the **** button to work!I'm thinking it's a path issue since I've done lots of buttons.So the button is now here:_root.slidingNav.animationMC.object.buttonand I've got the AS on the button:

Is the button so buried that it's clicking options aren't available? I've never heard of that before but I'm still new so .
I have CS4 and have (it has taken over a month) created a banner with moving clouds (912 x 74). To the left is our company name and all I want to do is have a navigation menu across the bottom. I did not want buttons, but text with a dignified mouse over effect or color change. The links would be to .php pages and the would read Requirements, Samples, Pricing, FAQs and Contact. View 1 Repliesim making a button and on the rollover animation I want to have it splatter paint, only thing is I dont know how to get an image into flash that doesnt look crappy. I know that I need a vector image, but im not familiar with vectors as I usually use photoshop. I tried using a photoshop brush image, a simple paint splatter in which I was just going to tween to a larger splatter but like I said the image looks blurred because itsa bitmap.
another newbie question, but when you make an animated button, is the background included in the animation? Like lets say I import a button, give it an animation to glow on rollover or something, if i went to use that .swf would the background that it was placed on show? or would it just be the animation that shows on the default web browser background.
i would like to do a simple set of buttons dynamicly created by code, like simple recangles which will act to each other and have different target urls or movies to load. Also buttons should have constant spacing to each other and it should be possible to have a tween animation for each one with delayed timing, so button 3 slides in first, button 2 slides in a second later and finally button 1 slides in at last. If you click one button all of the other buttons should get deactivated and the alpha should tween down to a lower level for e.g
Something like that, sounds simple but i don?t know where to start. I guess i will need to duplicate the button give each of them different targets, tweening and activate / deactivate states, but thats all i know in theory so far.
Here is the flash file I am referring to: [URL] You can view it online here: [URL] Notice how when the navigation loads in on the left, the WhipSmart logo Goes to the topleft? Well I don't want it to do that. I want that to happen ONLY when a user clicks on a navigation link.
So how it should looks is: The whipsmart logo appears big (as it does), the mid text loads and WhipSmart logo gets a bit smaller (as it does) and THEN it needs to stay like that until a user clicks on a menu item (it doesn't do that now, right now it automatically goes up to the topleft without the user making an action).
now we all used to disable the menu until new section of our site gets animation but how do you handle user repeatedly abusing for example back button on the browser when moving though your website?

View 13 RepliesI'd like to pause an animation loop when I rollover a button(the button is part of the area that is being animated and I want all the other buttons to stop animating except for the one I rollover) and then start the animation back up again when I rollout.

Here's the catch though: In one MC the animation is up and down, the other, left to right. I need the user to be able to not only trigger the animation by rolling over it, BUT, control the up and down/left to right action.
When they move the cursor up and down, the animation follows... you get the idea.
Can this be done with an invisible button covering and on top of the animation?
