ActionScript 2.0 :: Spawn A New Window Using Prototype In Flash?

in flash, I want to have a button, when clicked, pop's up a new browser window, and when I click another button it can tell that the second browser window is already open and so it loads the content into that second browser window.I know how to spawn a new window using prototype in flash.

I learned 3D math from the tutorial on this site. I have since developed a game where you are a spaceship flying through a star field.I can get the new planets to be created based on your position, but I can't get them to change based on your angle. this makes it so they don't spawn in front of you, they spawn off in a parallel line.

My character is spawned in the middle of the screen, and i'm not sure how to make zombies spawn from the left and right side of the screen, and moving towards the middle. My goal is to make the zombies spawn automatically, and the character in the middle is able to shoot them down. I've just started working on AS3, but i know that i'll need to make an array to do this, but not sure how to implement this.

This doesn't make any sense to my feeble brain, and I've reached my googlefu limit.

I have a bunch of prototype methods that I use to speed development up, and most of them are attached to DisplayObject or InterActiveObject. Here's an example of one such prototype:

I need to prototype a tabbed interface in Flash, AS3. I was thinking of 3 MC buttons on my timeline (let's say there instance names are; tab1, tab2, tab3).

In theory I would have a respective MC (instance names; content1, content2, content3) for each tab and when the tab was clicked on, it's MC would appear below (i.e. tab1 was clicked and in result shows content1).

Any guidance as to how I would structure this in Flash I'm blanking on the code structure to get this working and can't use easy goto's on frame ids as once performed in AS2

I found a cool prototype function here in the forums that plays a movieclip backwards:[code]I have the protoype defined on the main timeline of my main file. I call the function on press of a button from an external movieclip after it's loaded into main.When testing it in flash it works beautifully. When I test it online it doesn't work at all. Other code on the button being called at the same time does work (like unloading a movieclip on the main timeline).

Not sure how many remember what flash paper was, but it was a program that converted PDFs into a flash application.So I am building it in AS3 (not the conversion process, but the viewer).My question has to do with the zoom feature, well I guess the previous/next buttons as well.The way the previous and next buttons work is they reference an array of Y values of where the next page is. The array looks like this:

0,800,1600,2400,3200....etc

This works fine, however, when I go to zoom those values are not accurate anymore more.

Whenever you Zoom up I up the scale by += 0.1
Whenever you Zoom down I down the scale by -= 0.1

In that process I need to update the Y Value array to match the new height of all the combined pages. How could I do that?

EVERY SINGLE WEB SITE that has a flash file embedded on it causes my flashlog.txt file to display the following message, usually multiple times while a flash file is loading...

Warning: 'flash' has no property 'prototype'

This happens literally every single time I load a web page that contains a flash file embedded on it, regardless of where.

Otherwise it seems to trace all other errors and trace commands just fine.

Is this something I actually need to be concerned with in my development? I am assuming no since I get this warning in the flashlog.txt for every single flash file I open in my browser.

I was doing some assignments in my as3 textbook when I ran into a bit of trouble. I'm trying to make a flash that picks 3 random questions out of a total of 10 and displays them on screen. I made each of the questions movieclips and assigned them all a class (question1 - 10) through Linkage. So the variable "randomQ" is the name of the class of a random question, but how do I get flash to understand that? And how do I spawn that question as a movieclip on stage?

I've tried various alterations but can't seem to find the right one. It's possible I've yet to learn the necessary knowledge in order to make this flash.

Im creating a Game and Watch style game. Now with these games the enemies/obstacles spawn slowly at first then increase their amount over time.

I have created a function to spawn the enemy movie clips until a number of clips have spawned, they then move along their Class keyframes until they are either killed or game over.

how I can increase the spawn count slowly over time? I�d also like to randomize the spawn of certain enemies, how can i do that? Do i make for if conditions?

I'm currently developing my own 2D shoot em-up and using a book called  "The essential guide to Flash games" as reference to create my own enemy spawn state machine where the game keep spawning enemies (game goes on forever till player dies). I attempted to trigger each enemy spawn occuring to the game's level with an variable called "chance".
 
With my current attempts, the game either only spawns one enemy and spawns no others or doesn't spawn any enemies at all. I was wondering anyone here has any suggestions/tips for this issue I'm having?

Flash :: POST To Opened Javascript Window And Have Close The Window

I created a Flash application that reads POST data from a form. A user clicks the button, and the data gets posted to the flash app in a new window (_blank). Now takes the data and then spins a wheel to give users a prize. If they don't win a message pops up letting them know they didn't win. If they don't win, clicking the OK button needs to close the browser window.

I've tried a number of solutions and it seems that the only way to get this done is to launch the window with javascript and then use ExternalInterface.call('window.close'); to close the window from within the Flash actionscript (3) because otherwise the window won't close (I've tried just using window.close and window.close() with no luck)

I understand how to launch a new window with javascript, but I don't know how to simultaneously launch and POST data to that window (the Flash application has to have the POST data. Is this the best solution? Is there a way to close a browser window easier than what I'm describing?[URL]
