ActionScript 2.0 :: Stop Character Walking From When Road Scrolling Reach The Edge Of Screen?
Mar 1, 2008
here i have a zipped fla file where i have problem with the character still wallking when road scrolling reach the end of the screen.how would i stop that?heres script:
I am trying to make my screen scroll as my character moves to the edge of it, but when I get to the edge of the screen nothing happens, I think this could be something to do with my registration points but I'm not sure. I have added trace statements for debugging but no luck. I have included my Fla so you can see what I mean. Here: [URL]
Here is the code I am using to try and make this happen PHP Code: // scroll the LBground if character gets past half way up or down the stage function scrollLevel():void { // Horizontal scrolling var horizontalCentre:Number = stage.stageWidth / 2; var horizontalPosition:Number = LBground.x + Mchar; [Code] .....
currently i am removing objects when they reach the edge of the screen with
[Code].....
i understand this does not delete the object? without removing event listeners before removing the object the error log fills up, i believe its due to the stage isnt there after its removed. this makes me think that removechild does not delete the object? i will be creating and deleting many objects during runtime, and i dont want to slow down or use too much memory, how to properly free up the object
I am trying to make my character look as he is walking around on the stage. I can make him, but what do I to make move his arms and legs? Also, I want the character walking animation when one of the keys is pressed, and stop walking when that same key is released. I have looked and looked with google and I can't seem to find the answer
Wanting to be able to move multiple characters around a map (one at a time)First selecting them either by keyboard shortcut of by clicking them.then being able to move them with WASD of by clicking the mouse to a certain position on the map and the character would move in that direction.
I am currently making a platformer game but I can't seem to get a walking animation for my character. So far I have made a character which can move fine. Inside the characters movie clip are 2 frames (one standing and one walking) Now my problem is that I can get my character to move right and play the walking animation but when I walk left the walking animation doesn't play but the character still moves. I am using action script 2 and flash pro 8
onClipEvent (load) { var ground:MovieClip = _root.ground; var grav:Number = 0; var gravity:Number = 2; var speed:Number = 7; [Code] .....
I have a game where the character walks around the screen and stops if she hits a wall or a hole etc... - typical. HOWEVER - I coudn't get her to stop walking. Is there any standard code for this. If you tell to stop walking then she can't walk back out either etc... Also, she walked into the hole a little so being in the hole she definately couldn't walk any more not even back out as she would be walking inside the prohibited zone.
I am trying to make a walking animation for a character with customizable parts. I can't seem to get this code to work correctly:
[Code]...
playerStance defines if the character is idle or walking, in this case walkingchar is a MC containing 2 frames : idle and walk (the frames contain MC:s for the current animation, in this case charwalk)charwalk contains 2 keyframes and the others are filler frames, the keyframes in this case are 1 and 16charwalk contains layers for all of the character parts, for example bottom1 (is located in frame 1)all of the parts contain frames for every variation of that partin every frame of the parts is a code : stop(); to prevent them from playing when I gotoAndPlay charwalkWhen I play this and update the parts after changing parameters, the algorithm returns a right value, but the parts don't go to the correct frames. Instead they are kept in the first frame.
can someone teach me how to convert the code? when character reach frame 10,scale/flip the char horizontal. i tried e.currentTarget.scaleX=-1; but the char seems to move till off the stage.. without flipping the char,my char gone facing <--- instead of going ----->...
I'm trying to animate a dog runing/walking over the screen. I asked someone to draw 8 directions of walking/running plus two transitions with 360 degree running/walking. is it enough to let me freely move the dog and change actions (walk->run, run->walk) too?
I'm trying to do a simple game which you have to move a frog character in an X axis , and you have to "caught" the falling insects (as much as you can). The game lasts until you fail 5 ,and then it's game over with a display that says how much insects you caught. However, i'm doing this as a mid-term exam for a course in college.. but really, because of some problems, most of the us,the students.. learnt almost nothing, or hardly the necessary for being able to understand the code, but not to script by ourselves
The game works propertly, except when the frog reaches the edges of the stage, which is 800x600 px , and goes beyond it This is the code: (I'll skip the 2 other AS frames which make the game start and end and post the one with the in-game code)
I have a tooltip that follows the mouse, but i need to to figure out where the edges of the screen are and always keep the tootip on the screen. Its something to do with screen width and height.
I've built my first flash application and it's very close to being finished. I have a problem with two buttons that are on the are on the left and right of the stage. When the browser is enlarged these buttons don't remain on the edge of the browser. Not sure if I explained that very well so here is a link to the application [URL] if you make you browser wider you will see my problem.
Using Adobe Flash CS3 on a sometimes dual monitor setup. After attaching back to my docking station, and starting up Flash CS3, the window is off the edge of the right hand monitor somewhere, and I am not sure where. The mouse cursor makes it look like the window is somewhere off the lower right hand corner of the screen somewhere, but even after holding in the left and up arrows for a long time, there is no motion, and the window never appears. I can maximize the program back to my primary monitor, but this is hardly an ideal solution.
I have found the following registry entry, but am unsure if it applies to what I'm having problems with or what the format of the entry is: HKEY_CURRENT_USERAdobeFlash 9SettingsWindow
I'm creating a navigation bar for a website, and the client wants a little car to roll back and forth as you mouse over the buttons. Ok, that's easy enough, I say to myself, but I've run into a hitch.
When the page loads, (before you mouse over anything) the little car is sitting half off the stage, that is, only half the car is visible. I fixed that by putting the car symbol's registration point along the left side, but then the car's left edge is whats following the mouse. I need the cars center to be whats following the mouse, but at the same time, not be able to slide off the screen.[code]...
I have created a scrollable map which moves via mouse down buttons (left, right etc). Problem is I can't get the map to stop its scroll when it reaches its edge.
I need to do this project for school and I'm missing this one thing. I'm working in actionscript3 and have a panoramic picture of a room, that I'd like to move/slide(left and right) whenever the mouse cursor hovers near the edge of the screen. I'd also like to loop that image, so that you could slide it for eternity :) I tried to find a script for that but apparently the language barrier is too much for me.
Im making a scrollable mc. Easiest thing in the world.... but the damn scoller just will not stop when the movie clip it's scrolling ends. It stops....eventully... but not close enough. What actionscript do I need to use and where do I put it?
I'm making a side-scrolling game, with a (theoretically) infinite background. I have a block engine that places the blocks on the bitmap canvas. Now here's the catch. I'm using the bitmapData.scroll() function. Now unless I clear the screen each time the character moves, it's going to leave ghost images of the border of the screen, like this picture: zanzlanz. tumblr. com/post/18857712784 If I clear the screen each time, then it generates a lot of lag (because it has to repaint the objects again). I'm a bit lost on how I can scroll without leaving streaks of the side of the screen and without repainting the entire screen.
I'm tweaking the video code found here [URL] His progress bar starts at the edge of the stage. My progress bar starts at x=40 into the stage. My problem is that even though all my mcs related to the progress bar are positioned properly the scrubber mc hops to the edge of the screen when the video starts. It also acts as if the progress bar you scrub though is at the edge of the screen too. I can't figure out why it's doing this. There's nothing in the code to tell it to do as such.
I need to create an animated character that can run across the screen. The page(s) are HTML pages and are separate from the Flash file I want to create. The SWF would be used on a bunch of pages.
I have my character movement down, and now I want the create a map. I want the screen to move with the character, and eventually I will have it so that at certain spots on the map, the screen will not let you move and stop and enemies will come out.
I've created a walk cycle using bone tool on a character but i don't know how to make it move from one part of the screen to the other. The character is made up of 6 layers, 4 of which are armatures and 2 have motion tweens.
i want a character to stay in center of screen and where ever we click on the page the character goes there , i mean that click position comes to centre with ease and we can also navigate map like age of empires, or DOTA but in that case character stick at its own position to map.
Im not flash developer so i dont know how to do this but i can do designing. I am attaching a fla with this pls do this experiment with that fla file so that i can understand it easy. Being a non programmer it is tough to understand these things for me. those brown sections in this map would be colusion areas , where we cannot move character and blue is river. so we cannot move character to river too.
I'm having a lil problem. This problem is i'm trying to get a trurret to rotate to a character on screen...
K, now i know all you smarties are going well thats easy.... and thats cos it is.. i have done that using
Code: public function facePoint(point:Point){ var charPoint:Point = new Point(this.x, this.y) var charpos:Number = FindAngle(point, charPoint) * 180 / Math.PI this.rotation = charpos }
see easy now... i want it so it has (in need of a better description) a max rotation speed. so in stead of the rotation always being the same it has to rotate to keep up with the character..
My code allows you to be able to move your character the arrow keys, I put a loop in so that the character will move a lot more smoothly. but with this loop in my character just flys of the stage when i run the application.
if i wanna set the postion of a button to the position of a character on screen and when the character moves so deos the buttons what would be the best way to do that?
