I use FlashMX and made a basic flash movie with one movie clip. (movie clip contains frame by frame animation using images rendered at AE) How can I make the movie clip stop after a specified number of seconds? Client wants to be able to change the seconds when needed. So a text file along with swf file including number of seconds...?

i have the flv on autoplay when the motion tween finishes but when i go to another part of the site the video is still playing and i can hear the audio.the video is on a movie billboard with no buttons to play or stop i dont want too use buttons to start & stop the flv,i would like it too auto start and stop when the user leaves the page.so i dont hear the Movi clip audio playing on other pages.if there is actionscript to auto stop the movie clip on exit to another page that would be ideal if anyone could post it.

how to prevent the mouse from moving over a movie clip, so that the movie clip in a sense has a boarder around it that stops the mouse from entering its area on the main stage.

Quite simply, I'm trying to loop a movieclip for 15 seconds then stop without having to keep re-animating the movieclip's content. I have a stop action on the main stage, but it only targets animation happening on the stage, and not the movie clip in question. The movie clip is on its own layer on the main stage and I have extended its duration to 360 frames (15 seconds at 24fps), knowing full well that a movieclip will loop indefinitely unless otherwise commanded. It will stop if I put a stop action on a layer inside the movieclip's timeline, but the animation itself is only 1 second, so extending the timeline and redoing the animation for 15 seconds would defeat the time saving point of having a looping movieclip on the stage in the first place.
This is Flash 101, and I thought I knew how to do this properly, but I was proven wrong again and again this past weekend.

I'm trying to get my movie clip to appear after 1 second then disappear after five seconds.

Is there a way to stop every nested mc animations as once. In other words, I would like to stop every existing playhead in my swf file with one button. Currently, I got on button stopping the main scene playhead, but it doesn't stop any nested mc animation.Here is what i got on my main scene action layer :

I have a movie clip symbol that is place on my main time line.I want the movie clip to display frames for (x) seconds then go to the next frame.I have a chunk of code that works by itself but when placed into my flash site it is causing some strange problems. Such as navigating to a label (page) prior to the movie clip that has the wait function code, freezes the flash.I am wondering if I need _root or a this in there somewhere.
The reason I want to do this is so I don't have to add a bunch of frames to get the pause time I need.Is there a way to use the code below and not have it cause problems with the rest of my time line?Here is the wait function code

I'm pulling in xml and generating movie clips to display scrolling thumbnails. When the user clicks on the thumbnail I've got this code.[code]What I want here is to display a couple more images, some text and a couple of links related to the thumbnail. This comes from the xml file and is stored in an array.I need to pass the unique number of the movie clip to the pop-up in order to target the info from the array but I don't know how to get the number of the clip.trace (target_mc); gives me _level0.container.container_mc8. The number of the clip is obviously 8. How do I just get the number or can I somehow use this result?

create a variable that represents the number of frames in a movie clip? I thought maybe something like var = getProperty(my_mc, frames); might work, but it doesn't. I'm trying to make a "last" button for a template that goes to the last frame in a movie clip, and as we'll be updating and changing the number of frames in the movie clip quite often, I'd rather just have it find the last frame rather than have to update the actionscript every time.

I've seen plenty of articles on AS3 for doing this, but is there _any_ way of doing this in AS2? I've need to loop through every child mc within several other mc's and change their colour... but cannot find any way of doing it (or anything confirming it can't be done!).

I need a movie clip to "pause" for 15 seconds or so before moving on to the next frame.
I'd like to figure out something other than adding 120 static frames.
Is there an AS command that stops on a frame for a certain amount of time before moving on?

How I can make a button goto and play a frame of a movie clip. Basically the first frame is blank and when the button is clicked the movie clip will go to frame 2 and play. I'm also going to have some other buttons make it go to other frames.

I've come a long way with this sliding menu("Sliding menu.zip"). There's only one more thing that needs to be fixed. Can anyone tell me how to get the first movie clip button ("1") to be red when it arrives? When the user clicks on another button I want the red number one to turn black. It's sounds so simple but my mind is blank.

I have attached a copy of what I am trying to do and basically everything works. Except my button in the loaded movie....I am trying to load a movie in a holder and have a button that had if else statement based on the movie being clicked. I have attempted this buy setting up a count on a movieClip but this seems to disable the buttons in the loading movie?

I have multiple movie clips on my piece. Each clip is of an an image, and when the mouse curser goes over the image, the movie clip begins (making it bigger).If you run your mouse curser all over the screen, they all activate at once.I want the clip to only activate after the mouse is on the specific clip for more than a few seconds. I know I need a timer. How do I do this? What is the code and where does it go in mine (below)?

I have the below code used to create a random number every 3 seconds and then have the timeline go whatever numbered frame the random number comes to. It works. However when I trace the randNum, I see that it is generating more and more random numbers during the interval. For ex, first it generates one random number every 3 seconds... but then it starts generating more than one per every 3 seconds. how can this be? Isn't the function supposed to run once every 3 seconds?

I need to call a function every number of seconds or so.. I'll just show some code:

basically, what it does is when i click, a block box (textholder), fades in, then after a few seconds (in this case, 2), it fades out again.. it works fine on the first click, but after more clicks, the interval duration seems to be getting smaller, up to a point where it is zero, and nothing happens.
and I need to use another setInterval() function (to call the changeTxt() function), will that affect the setInterval function i have up there now? i've linked an swf, to better show what i mean. [URL]
