ActionScript 3.0 :: Accessing Item After Adding To Stage?
Jan 7, 2008
I have a lot of actionscript drawing Sprites and adding them to the stage. I need to access them to animate them once they're added but I can't figure out how. Also, I read that a sprite has no timeline. If it doesn't have a timeline, that doesn't necessarily mean I can't animate does it? I mean, I should still be able to move it's position on screen or change it's color?
I am trying to add multiple different versions of the same button to the stage and to be able to access them later on by assigning them an ID. The way I assumed this would be done is to have a class for the button where an internal static variable is defined so that the ID can be found in the next function. This does not seem to be working, as the ID is constantly showing as the last number given, so in this case 6.I assume that I am doing this wrong? Here is my code so you can better understand:
I'm having a problem with getting the value of an item that the user selects in my mobile Flex application. When I select an item from the list I place that item into an ArrayCollection. But when I check the value (trace()), the value is [object Object] and I can't seem to access the actual value of the object. Here is what I am doing:
private var selectedPlayers:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); private var numOfPlayers:int; ... //check if item is not already in selected players list
i recently posted a question on embeding XML,i have it working however im still struggling to access individual elements of an XML document i would like to work with, below is a basic XML structure id like to acess:
Within a DataGrid, I have a DataGridColumn that uses a custom component as the item renderer. Within the component, I have an ArrayCollection that stores a set of value objects. My problem is that I cannot access the ArrayCollection values from outside of the item renderer component. Does anyone know how it would be possible to do this? I have posted a code snippet below.
<mx:Script> <![CDATA[ // Cannot access arrFiles from here.
I just want to acquire the existing label from the currently selected item in a ComboBox. I populated it with a DataProvider with a list of strings and it will not allow me to get the currently selected label, especially if I input a new one, not included in the DataProvider
- A.fla includes buttons, movie clips and also B.swf is loaded in A.fla using a LOADER
- i want to access elements in A.fla, from the actionscript codes inside B.fla to modify those movie clips and buttons based on actions going on in B.swf
for instance, lets say there is a button X in A.fla, and there is a button Y in B.fla, B.swf is loaded into A.fla, and I want the button Y to erase button X when clicked.
general question: accessing elements in a stage, through a SWF file loaded into that stage.
I am actually trying to add user's input name into a sharedobject.
for example: This is code from frame44 and the movie loops back to frame 1 after students input other minor data.
var newstudent:String = NewFishInput.text; var so:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("studentlist"); so.data.name = newstudent; so.flush();
The code that i have is there. However, i can't figure out how do i add additional instance of newstudent after the movie loops back to frame 1 and play til frame 44, prompting another student to add in his name....
I've created a flash builder actionscript 3 project which loads an external swf which was created in flash cs5 which contains the combobox component. How do i dynamically add items to it?
when I add items nothing appears in the component but when I make a second adding cycle List shows the one I added previously...The code with which I add my elements is this. The studied method is updateStorages(), the rest is to understand how's the process cycle. All the trace you see in the code works with no problem.
ActionScript Code: public function Scopa() //constructor { [...]
I'm adding various movieclips to the stage with the following code:var invis_obj = new invisible_li_mc();addChild(invis_obj);However, when I try to access the movieclip such asinvis_obj.buttonMode = true;I get nothing however, something like invis_obj.alpha=0; works fine..
I have a news rotator that is populated from an RSS feed. The rotator has a timer that cycles through the news items, displaying a link and image and title for each item. I have the put in three buttons for the user to control the item that is displaying. A pause, forward and backward button.
My issue is that I'm not sure how to implement the button without messing up my timer that is already running. I was able to do the Pause button, which was simply to stop the timer. The forward and backward buttons are a bit more tricky. This is what I have so far. Note that I have much of the code duplicated because I needed to initialize the objects for the first timer index. After the first item, the code runs from the timerHandler() function.
PHP Code: var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var xmlData:XML = new XML(); import fl.transitions.Tween; import fl.transitions.easing.*; import fl.transitions.TweenEvent; [Code] .....
Tell me what needs to be done in order to get item display onto the stage in Action Script 3. I wrote this code to receive RSS Feeds and it seems to work perfectly, however, I can't get it to display on the stage. When I test, it displays code in the "Output" window.
I am trying to write an AS3 flash app I made in AS2, and I can't figure out how to add an MC from the library onto the stage. In AS3 I would just give the MC a random class name and then use:[code]but in AS2 this throws the error: the class or interface 'class' could not be loaded.
Im going to have multiple items in this game im making, and i want these items to be selectable. And i would have to be able to trace which was was currently selected.
im working on a side scroll game and im having some problem with items.i mean i want to have an item in my game like coins, diamonds. etc.sadly i dont have any idea on how to do that.im thinking an array that can hold many items and just call it on stage and limit the item to 10 or 20.
My items no longer sit on top of the gray area outside the stage. When I try to move an item off the stage it goes under and I cant see it.I am using cs 5.5. I think I must have changed an option somewhere, becuase if I open up a new document everything is fine.
I want to be able to select a item (image, movieclip etc) that has been added to the stage in Flash and access its file name.
So if I drag a image called 'imageOne.png' onto the stage, I want to be able to access its name, 'imageOne.png', and pass it to a Extension for Flash that I'm building. I know I can get details from the library, but not from the items selected on the stage.
Can anyone tell me how to access this information using JSFL.
How can i add one item of an array to the stage at a time?
basically i have a button which changes the level and it is changing the text straight from level 1 to 10 when i click instead of level 1 to 2 when i click and then 2 to 3 when i click again etc.[code]...
I have a button, inside an mc1 which when clicked it plays [TweenLite.to(mc2, 2, {frame:1});] inside mc2 -which located back on the stage. Currently I get the error of "access of undefined property)".
I have many items on the stage and when clicking on one, I want other specific items to react accordingly.
Here's the relevant code: public var currentClick; public var activeCurrent:Boolean = false; public function init(){ addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, reportClick); } function reportClick(event:MouseEvent):void { [Code] .....
I want to click on "item1_mc", have the specified objects move away and then when clicking on item1_mc again I want to have them move back to their original positions. When clicking on "item1_mc" it provides both trace statements and performs the second if statement, even though "activeCurrent" is set to false. Further clicking only creates the trace statements and nothing else.
The following script works perfectly, but I can't get the library item (which is a mc, class "helmet") to display. Do I need to import additional classes to display the mc?
