ActionScript 3.0 :: Attach Eventlisteners To Dynamic Movieclips And Pass A Variable?

Dec 8, 2008

I have a mc (changeColorMc) and three movieclips. The three movieclips are created on the fly (so there could be more movieclips) and filled with a color from an Array. This works fine.

Now I want to add an eventlistener for each movieclip, so when someone push one of the movieclips the movieclip with the name "changeColorMc" gets that same color from the colorArray.

My question is: How can I pass the color value from the colorArray to the buttonPressed function? Is this possible?

I was also thinking that I had to create three buttonPressed functions ie. buttonPressed1, buttonPressed2 and buttonPressed3 and attach these to the created movieclips.. but how? Because I don't know up front how many movieclips there will be..

ActionScript 3.0 :: Pass Parameters Through Eventlisteners?

Jun 11, 2010

Inside a .fla file I have some buttons and each button will tween a different image to the stage. All the images are outside the stage in the same x and y position and I just need to tween the x coordinate.

Now I'm working with an external document class where I'm trying to hold all my functions and I'm stucked with the Tweens. I'm willing to stay away from the flash tween engine and I'm trying to work with tweenLite.

Is it possible to pass parameters through eventListeners so I can use something like this inside my docClass?

public function animeThis (e:MouseEvent, mc:MovieClip, ep:int):void { //ep stands for endPoint.
TweenLite.to(mc, 2, {x:ep});
}

If this is possible, how am I supposed to write the listeners so it will pass the event to be listened for AND those parameters? And how to build the function so it will receive those parameters and the event?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Pass Dynamic Variable From HTML To Swf?

May 8, 2009

I want to pass a variable from one SWF to another swf, both embedded within individual HTML files (lets call them main.html and Events.html) . In movie 1 I have 3 buttons. Based on whichever button is clicked I want to attach a different number in the variable (jumpframe), then pass that through to the second movie over HTML, where it opens at that specific frame number.[code]...

However, I understand that I must get that jumpframe variable from the HTML line into the second flash movie somehow. I believe by adding some code into either the first (main.html) or second HTML file (Events.html), but I have tried so many different solutions I have confused myself.

Actionscript 3 :: Add And Remove EventListeners With Dynamic Name And Dynamic Variables?

Jan 14, 2010

picture: [URL].. I am making a boardgame in flash Action Script 3 each position on the board is a buttons like this: button_1_1, button_1_2 etc. Whenever a character is selected you want to move it so the script has to add event listeners for positions around the selected unit

[Code]...

In the rest of the code I have:

function userClickedPosition(position_x:int, position_y:int) it selects or deselect a unit function selectUnit(position_x:int, position_y:int):it uses the listentoButton(1) function to add 8 listeners (the positions around the clicked unit)function deselectUnit(position_x:int, position_y:int): it uses the listentoButton(0) function to delete 8 listeners (the positions around the clicked unit)

My question: adding eventlisteners is no problem but removing them dont seem to work? What did I do wrong?

ActionScript 3.0 :: MovieClips - Creating Custom EventListeners Dynamically

Nov 14, 2009

I'm trying to create a series of scripts that will create some custom event listeners. I have three movie clips on my stage. One is a movieclip who's sole function is to hold array's and the event listeners. A second which moves around the screen. And a third that is motionless. The problem is that the argument I want to test (which activates the custom event) is held within a string. What I want to know is, how do you test to see if the string argument is true?

Is it something similar to this:
var myCode:String="1<0";
if(myCode){
trace('one is smaller than 0'); //Strangely apparently one IS smaller than 0!!!
}

I think I'm going about this in the wrong manner, however this is the only way I can think of this working... (since I need to be able to dynamically create these events).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Target Of EventListeners - Possible To Change MovieClips Image

Nov 7, 2011

I've made a loop that is creating 9x movieClips that is loading external images and I have also added eventListeners to those movieClips to make it possible to change the movieclips image. My problem is that i can't access the target of the "first eventListener". Here is the code to browse for the new image, i want to access the movieclip of this function in a later eventListener, like this: event.CurrentTarget

Code:
file.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, onFileSelected);
function mUp(event:MouseEvent):void{
file.browse(new Array(new FileFilter( "Bild (JPG och JPEG)", "*.jpg;*.jpeg;")));
}

The second eventListener. This function is called when the new image is selected
Code:
function onFileSelected(event:Event):void{
file.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadCompleteHandler);
file.load();
}

The third and last function, this function is called when the image is loaded and is ready to be used.
Code:
function loadCompleteHandler(event:Event):void{
file.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadCompleteHandler);
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
loader.loadBytes(event.target.data);
// Here is the problem!
event.target.addChild(loader)
}

If if put this code, it will target the second function's event.
Code:
event.target.addChild(loader);
I am searching for a code looking like this to replace the old image with the new one
Code:
event.target.target.addChild(loader);

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamic Variable Inside Movieclips

Jan 21, 2011

I recently started learning Flash and Actionscript and now I'm trying to write an actionscript for the first time. Im doing this in Actionscript 2.0.I have a movieclip that consists of two images and one dynamic text field with a variable. The name of the images are "VS1_P1_RUN" and "VS1_P1_OFF" and the name of the dynamic text field is "pumptext". In the dynamic text field I have the variable "VS1_P1_Ind". VS1_P1_Ind is probably a boolean variable as it shows 1 or 0 in another program but in Flash it shows True or False (not sure if Flash thinks it's a text/word or a boolean).My script is supposed to display the image named VS1_P1_RUN if the variable of the dynamic text field pumptext shows the text True and it goes like this:[code]

So I'm completely stuck in what to do. The bottom code works as it should but I want the images to show depending on the value of the variable VS1_P1_Ind. I thought just changing the text field to dynamic and typing the variable name in the variable field would do it but no.If it could be a clue to the solution I'll also share that the value of the variable is not seen/shown in textfield while inside the movieclip. Creating a dynamic textfield outside of the movieclip shows the value of the variable just fine, True/False.

ActionScript 3.0 :: MovieClips - Dynamic Naming Links To Variable

Jul 26, 2009

I am doing the following
Code:
Select allvar a:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
addChild(a);
Now what I want to do is I want to create six more mc i.e., a2,a3,a4,a5,a6. I want to accomplish this using loop like this:
Code: Select allvar i:Number = 0;
while(i < 6){
var a:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
addChild(a);
}

So with above method how can I give different names link above to var a? Then I am using all of these var as following:
Code:
Select allvar cube:Cube = new Cube(new MaterialsList({
front:a , left:a2, right:a3, top:a4, bottom:a5, back:a6}),200, 200, 200,10, 10, 10);
scene.addChild(cube);
How can I use those dynamic name here?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Attach Different Movieclips With One Function?

Apr 26, 2010

I'm adding movieclips from an external .as class called GUI. But what I'd like to do is be able to load multiple GUIs - lets say GUI0, GUI1 & GUI2 - through the one class using a dynamic variable. So if I need to load a certain GUI i can just instantiate the GUI class and run newGUI.loadGUI(GUIname); and have it load the correct movieclip based on the variable.So, syntax aside, it would look something like this:

Code:
loadMenu(GUIname) {
GUItoLoad = GUIname;
var mcLoader:GUItoLoad = new GUItoLoad();[code]........

I've tried a few different things syntax wise, and have had a search and browse, but have come up empty handed.
