ActionScript 3.0 :: Bitmap Smoothing On A Graphic Already Placed Inside A MovieClip?

I have searched several threads, and no answer has been found to apply a bitmap smoothing to an image already inserted inside a movie clip on stage (not dynamically loaded). Any suggestions on what to do to apply smoothing to an image inside a clip? Trying to come up with an answer as I am getting a funny fuzz around a logo that I'd like to see disappear. It appears clean and crisp within the png file, but not in the compiled swf.

how I could get it to do what I want it to do? I want to add it inside the mc because I need everything to move with the _gameLevel background when I move it.

i have made a bitmap over a menu and the only problem is that I made a scale and a rotation over that bitmap and it gets distort and I don't know why, because I use this:

I'm doing a simple bkend admin using php for the client to upload images to be displayed on their flash website. ideally if they upload at the correct size, no problem, but sometimes they don't. So my problem comes in when the uploaded images are very big. When they are scaled down, the smoothing makes no difference at all.
I was wondering if there is a work around?

I would like to use the smoothing function for my code here below.This is just a slideshow gallery that resize the photos at 100% full page with scaling proportions.=
2 - Another problem issue: this has a little movement effect that moves the photo when the mouse moves. To do this i scaled the images at 110% but it looks a bit streched here.

Trying to set the smoothing of a dynamically loaded, through XML, JPEG set to true using AS2. I've seen an example of that would do this with this code:

In my code I'm loading a series of products from an XML file. Each bit of information for each product gets loaded into a seprate array. I have a 'zoomy box' image, which loads an image, but at 200%, which I want to smooth...

I'm using the regular 3D API of flash player 10 and i'm rotating on the Y axis a sprite which contains my bitmap. Although the bitmap.smoothing property is set to true, the bitmap is far from smooth.

I'm creating an aerial view style game with the flash player 10 built in 3D, but Some of my sprites are very small, like 32x32 pixels, and when they are placed into the 3D world they become very blurry.
Is there a way to prevent flash player from smoothing the objects?

I set up this sample movie clip in the hopes to figure out a problem I'm having:[code]In the above code, I can add the contents of myImageLoader to myMovieClip with no issues and it resizes as expected (and consequently artifacts appear). With the final two lines of code, apparently myBitmap is not being loaded with the contents of myImageLoader.content which will cause the final line to fail with the following error:Code:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at loadImageTest_fla::Main Timeline/frame1()I understand the error, I just don't get why the contents are not being loaded into the bitmap object.

I'm having a helluva time trying to figure out the syntax for smoothing of dynamically loaded png's. It's such an easy function for as3, but seems very complicated in as2.

What I am doing now is loading a .png image with a Loader object. After loading the file I cast the loaderInfo's content to a bitmap and set the smoothing value to true. This works without a problem until I reach a ScaleX and ScaleY value less than 0.5.

Change the scaleX and scaleY properties on the bitmap. Directly change the height and width properties of the bitmap. Add the bitmap as a child of another sprite and change the scaleX and scaleY properties of the sprite. Add the bitmap as a child of another sprite and change the height and width properties of the sprite. Creating a new BitmapData object with a matrix scale and then drawing the original BitmapData onto it.I've also tried some other workarounds that I found when searching, such as:setting the scaleX of the image to 1.001 or 0.999 forcing the height and width of the Bitmap object to be even numbers.
Below is some sample code for reproducing the problem. (I am running this locally so I have a copy of testimage.png in my bin-debug folder)

i have a question and a unfortunate problem to report. First my question is how do I apply smoothing to a rotating bitmap asset that is in the flash timeline, (i.e.: not dynamically loaded), I don't like it all jaggy like that. Is there a way I can apply bitmap smoothing to a movieclip with a bitmap in it without going through all the rigamarole of loading the asset eternally? Bonus points for something super simple like MovieClip.forceSmoothing (I need this in AS3).
And unfortunate issue: I have a problem in Papervision. I think it might be a bug, where a plane object with an externally loaded BitmapAssetMaterial makes the computer chug like mad when the plane is viewed edge on or very close to edge on (I am using transparent PNGs). They display fine otherwise.

This seems like it should be simple, but... I've been trying to figure out how to do the following, and I can't seem to make it work. It all works except for the hit test part. I have a working drag and drop application. I need something different to happen when the user drops an object while the mouse x,y is, or is not over a certain (very irregularly shaped) bitmap inside a movieClip. how to do this? I have found some complicated ways to hit test between 2 bitmaps, but not 1 bitmap and mouse x,y.

I am having a problem loading a bitmap/graphic into the place of a movie clip using AS 2.0 on Flash CS3.You see, I am uploading an image into a library, for example, Bitmap1.jpg, and I upload another image to turn into a movie clip, for example, Bitmap2.jpg turns into Symbol 1.I place Symbol 1 onto the screen and I've been trying code after code and I'm not sure how to load Bitmap1.jpg in the place of Symbol 1 using the 'if statement'. I've tried the 'load' functions, but since I've just bought CS3 and I don't have Flash 8, a lot of the functions have changed.Here's an example of my code:

Is there a way to avoid this? I import A LOT of bitmaps all the time and it's really really annoying to have to delete the graphic symbol flash creates with it.
Couldn't find a way to toggle this "feature" off in preferences.

When you load an image into a MovieClip then use that as the data source to draw() into a BitmapData object, the documentation says "Optionally, you can specify whether the bitmap should be smoothed when scaled. This works only if the source object is a BitmapData object." To me that implies that a second BitmapData object is needed in order for the optional [smooth:Boolean] parameter to work when set to true.
We found we didn't need to "double buffer" in this way when using MovieClip.attachBitmap() with the [smoothing:Boolean] parameter set to true. We did run into another problem though. This problem only manifests itself when you run the SWF as part of an HTML file running from a local web server like http://127.0.0.1. Here's the problem: images are loaded dynamically (URL's pulled from assets.xml) and the ones that are loaded locally from a directory on the same machine load and are smooth and distortion free. Other URL's point to a remote host. The images loaded via a remote source (example) do not "smooth nicely" running the exact same code as the local images. The remote images are shimmery and exhibit update artifacts. If you run the exact same page not via an http:// web sever i.e. - just loading the html page into the IE, then the remote images do get nice smoothing when animated.
Is there some magic to get BitmapData loaded from a remote source to smooth correctly when run from a local web sever? For our internal demo we removed any remote URLs so we could demonstrate that Flash does provide the ability for nice smooth animations but it would be a good problem to solve.

I'm writing a s:ItemRenderer to render some simple graphical components in my app. Each element can have multiple shapes that can be selected by the user, i.e. a certain element can be a square, or a circle, or a star, or whatever else.The simplest way I could think for doing this was to include all possible shapes in a s:Group and then manage their visible tag depending on what shape the user has selected. Is there a better way to do that? Also, if I encapsulate the group in a separate MXML component, how do I propagate the state of the itemRenderer (say "hovered") down to the MXML component that manages the shapes?Let's say you want to display three types of objects alternatively - the IR below with an AS snippet that turns visible to false for 2 out of the 3 objects definitely does the trick, but seems so ugly to me. In the mean time I found setCurrentState (stateName: String, playTransition:Boolean=true) to propagate the state down, so that's solved.[code]

I am building an RPG type game in flash and have hit upon my first problem.I have created a character out of various different body parts (upper arm, lower arm, hand, head, etc..) I would like to make it possible to change the look of each of these body parts (different types of armor / clothing) whilst maintaining the whole body animations.I'm becoming confused about how many things are inside each other! Rather than recreate a whole new set of animations for every conceivable combination of armor and clothing it should be possible to simply change one of the graphics within the movieclip that is the character.
So the structure I have thought of is like this:Whole body > Changeable graphic > Base Body Part (bare arm for instance)What is a sensible way to go about doing this? I'd like to have a solution that is easily scalable and won't require notably more work if there are 10 different types of changeable graphic or 1000.I think that I need use the event that triggers the armor / clothing to change for that body part, to run a script that either somehow changes which graphic it is displaying, possibly inside the Base Body Part movieclip.
