I have two files, the regular .fla file and an external .as file.Basicly at one point in the .as file I get information of what tag to send the timeline and play and have to use the function gotoAndPlay from the timeline in the .fla file.

I don't know how to redirect to wherever I want in the timeline from the .as file.
Can you have a/s in the external swf that runs a 'gotoAndplay' in the main movie? I want the swf to be halfway through when the picture on my main swf changes.~ Seretha(I can't load the picture in with the external swf because they have to be unloaded at different times and the picture HAS to load on a level under the external swf.)
View 14 RepliesI'm trying to drop in a quick mp3 player into a site that creates a playlist from an XML (to the folks at ClickPopMedia for the basics of the code). It works fine in the Flash testing environment, but when I put it online, or even on my local testing server, the playlist doesn't load ,just an empty space where the List component should be. I am struggling with what seems to be a simple problem. Searched and can't find the answer, it seems. I have an FLA I said I'd edit for a friend... just a few simple text edits. However, when I go to publish the movie, it makes a call to an external "State Manager" that it can't find, so the movie loops endlessly. So I'm guessing it's looking find that at that domain. I guess that's the doing of the original programmer. However, I have noticed that there is a StateManager.js file on the webserver in the same directory where the SWF resides. Have I received an old FLA that pointed externally instead of to the local js manager? How can I change the syntax so that it finds the state manager locally?
I am working on a Vignette platform that doesn't support XML, so was told to place my swf file on an external server andcall it from that server in the html code. I have never done this before and need detailed instructions on how to get this executed

I am trying to call multiple functions at different times from the same .as file. I asked this question in another forum but the reply did not work. I have 2 as3 books but they both only talk about calling a single function from the external file. Can someone detail the structure in the .as file as well as how to call it from the .fla? Im going to make a page in flash as3, and now I have build the most of it. I will now load an external swf into the main swf, to save people for too must waiting time... my issue with normal words: I want to have a number of buttons. When you click on button 1 the first external swf load with a fade animation. Now when I would see whats behind button 2, is should animate the first swf out and remove it from the stage, to save wating time.... and the same should happend if i have 5 menu buttons...

I load the external movie into main movie and i want to put a gotoandplay() in mc of the external movie, to the external, like this:

I have two files
main.swf & nav.swf.
In main.swf I have two frames on Layer1 "s1" & "s2"
On Layer2 I used the following scripts to load nav.swf

Which works perfectly fine.
But on nav.swf ( external file ) I have two buttons on the stage. On the 1st button I have used the following script to go to "s1" frame which is on the main.swf

Which seems to be not working fine. I have also attached those two fla files.
The subject title pretty much tells it all. I've got a flash project where a video component plays an external flv file. I've got a different flv file loaded at each keyframe. Right now the flv plays and then it stops and waits for you to click on the next video you want to watch. I want it to automatically go to the next keyframe and start the next video.

View 5 RepliesI have a main swf that loads 2 external swfs. I click on button to see content of external swf #1 and see stuff. I do something that causes external swf to show other stuff (i.e. not at beginning state)
In the main swf I click on button to see content of external swf #2. External swf #1 content is made invisible and I see content of external swf stuff. NOW, if I click on button to take me back to see external swf #1, I see it's content in current state. I want to force it to start over again at frame #1 which will reset content.
However, no matter what I try, I can't seem to control which frame to go to in external swf using gotoAndplay.

For some reason i'm having problems swapping scenes in my flash movie. At first i put the action in a "actions" named layer and a link to a button. So basicly when scene1 loads the frame 1 action is "stop ();". The viewer clicks on button1 which has a code of;

I'm new to this actionscript stuff and I'm having trouble making my swf file loop over and over. I have several movie clips in my scene and in the last movie clip, in the "actions" layer, in the last frame, I put "gotoAndPlay(1);" hoping that this would make the file loop over and over.
Instead, I get a error message:
1120: Access of undefined property social_media_mc.
How I can make my swf loop over and over?

I have a Flash movie which is embeded in 'base.aspx' file, when a button is clicked in the flash movie another 'something.aspx' file need to be called.When I run the flash movie from the Adobe Flash Professional CS3 IDE , it (the flash movie) calls the 'something.aspx' file just as expected.However when I embed the flash movie in to the 'base.aspx' file it doesn't work as expected .

I am with a problem, I have my main file that has the normal menu that he would be principal.swf, I is using this to call the other .swf that he would be noticias.swf, that would have a project of the news in xml.

My problem is following, when I compels my file noticias.swf it appears normal with the news, but when I am in the file principal.swf and click in button 2 menu it brings me the file noticias.swf but without xml, xml does not appear no way.
Here's a coding question for the guru's I've written a simple function that will clear a form. I want to call this function from another function (4 of them to be exact). I could copy and paste code multiple times and everything will work. But where's the fun in that? There's something to be said about clean code.
