When using Loader class to load display objects (bitmaps, SWFs...) from remote URLs, is there any way for them to be instantiated (referenced as we know, by Loader::content property) as some user specified valid subclass? For example if I had a class that extended a Bitmap, is there any way for the loaded object to be of this class?

I am using the Loader to load an external swf into my program. Inside the external swf, I need to be able to access the Loader instance that just loaded it. Does the loader add the external swf to itself before any code inside the swf gets executed? When is it safe to access the loader via the following code?

var target:DisplayObject = this;
while(!(target is Loader) && DisplayObject(target).parent != null){
target = DisplayObject(target).parent;

I am just looking for a tutorial for a simple loader bar. A load bar would obviously show that the site is still downloading.

Actionscript :: Progress Indicator Using Flash.display.Loader

Jun 13, 2009

I need to do a simple progress indicator while loading an image on background. I'm using the flash.display.Loader class in what seems to be the standard way. The problem is that even though I can see that flash.display.LoaderInfo fires the ProgressEvent.PROGRESS at regular intervals using tracing, a dynamically updated text (or any other graphics object) is updated only once when the loading finishes. It looks like if the display update queued and caused only one update at the end. This is a simplified version of the function which initiates the loading:[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Find The Loader Class - Copy And Paste It Into The Display Folde?r

Aug 21, 2008

Using the mac version of flash CS3, and trying to import classes, namely the Loader class. Everywhere I've seen this code is used:

import flash.display.Loader;
or for all classes in display:
import flash.display.*;

Neither of which seems to work, and after searching out the file path for flash.display there is only one file in the display folder (BitmapData.as).So my question is, where do I find the loader class? And secondly, once I find it, do I copy and paste it into the display
folder or do I use a different file path?

Actionscript 3 :: Flash.display.Loader Blocks On Load In Release Build?

Apr 26, 2010

I'm loading a swf-file from my program written in as3 using the flash.display.Loader class. When I'm using the debug build configuration in FlashDevelop everything works fine. But when I'm using the release build configuration the program freezes for around two seconds efter the loader sends the progress events and before sending the complete event.

This is my program:

package
{
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.display.Sprite;

[Code]....

After around two seconds where the program is frozen the line Completed on frame: 2 is added and the 'On frame X' counter starts ticking up. Debug build produces the same output but without the freeze.

Not all swf-files I have tried loading triggers the problem. The size of the file doesn't seem to affect anything. I have tried compiling and running on another computer with the same result.

Edit: I noticed that if the program is compiled with debug=true the flash player takes around two seconds to start, the same length of time the flash player is frozen when debug=false.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Add Loader To Stage?

I have a big problem with ActionScript 3. I'm working in Flex Builder 2. The following code throws a null reference error:

Code:
public function Initialize():void{
var l:Loader = new Loader();
stage.addChild(l); // null?
l.x = 100;
l.y = 100;
}

I've worked out that the stage::addChild method is the source of the problem.

Note: the function is called on the creationComplete trigger.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Removing UI Loader From The Stage?

Dec 14, 2009

I have 5 GoToframe activated UI loaders that appear on stage when a btn is clicked. All work fine except when either video galleries are clicked (there are two) . After the video gallery appears on stage any button clicked after that adds the next UI loader but the video gallery remains playing.

Do I use a removeEventListener?

Do I use on all buttons?

Create separate functions?

here is the code to one of the galleries

this.stop();
btnGallImg.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, vgall2);
function vgall2(evt:Event):void {

ActionScript 3.0 :: Sprite Loader From Library Onto The Stage?

Jan 30, 2009

Loading a Sprite or MovieClip from the library to the Stage is simple. You just export the symbol and do the following code:

var mySp:Sprite1 = new Sprite1();
addChild(mySp)

assuming the exported sprite is called "Sprite1" and the base class is flash.display.Sprite

But what if you have many sprites and want to encapsulate this into a function with the sprite name passed as a string? What would the code in the function look like? Somehow you have to cast the string as the name of the sprite class defined in your export but I'm not sure how. I've seen a sample using the "as" keyword but try searching "as" in the help you you don't get much help.

Code:
function loadSpriteFromLibrary(sSpriteName:String)
{
//load the sprite with an exported name passed into sSpriteName onto the stage
//what would the code look like?
}

ActionScript 3.0 :: Removing A Loader Class Event From The Stage?

Mar 3, 2010

I know using the UI loader when I needed to remove from the stage I used

MovieClip(loaderVideoGallery.content).flvPlayer.stop()

this time I need to remove a loader class event loader from the stage[URL]... The scenerio is I have 5 externally loaded .swfs that load on different frames on the timeline. When one is playing and another button event listener is clicked the previous video remains on stage. This happens when I go anywhere else in the timeline so I would think I need (removeChild)

Wouldn't this have to go in every button listener? If I went from a frame that loads an swf to the the frame that displays the homepage where text is in the place of where the swf was I would need to always have the remove Child event in all other button event listeners am I correct?
