ActionScript 3.0 :: Carousel Showing Up Beneath Background Elements
Nov 12, 2009
I'm creating a carousel using AS3 based on the following code: [URL]. I've got several elements on the stage that I'd like to be behind the carousel but instead I can see that the carousel is showing up behind all the elements on the stage.
I have a Flash carousel on my website, and I wanted to change one of the images, and delete another icon altogether. I have uploaded the revised XML file, published the new .swf (just in case), and uploaded to my Joomla site.For some strange reason, its still showing the old icons in Firefox (even though I've deleted these images from the referenced folder), and its showing the new icons in IE, only without the one image I added. Very strange.I've refreshed, created a new .swf, made sure I've saved the XML file etc but no changeThis is probably one of those amateur mistakes I think, I've thought of everything but drawing a blank at the moment.Oh i should probably mentioned that the revised carousel has 4 icons, and the old one has 5. The new image I put in has an icon of a jigsaw.XML File is as follows
I am not new to html or flash but, some what new to XML. I created a carousel based off the tutorials and it works great on my computer but, when I create an html file and attach the .swf file the flash file loads but, the icon images or anything from the .xml file doesn't appear.This is what I use to load my .swf file :
url...The idea is that when you click on a subject area, it appears as though you zoom in on the map and then the information displays. Right now I only have content up in the contact and bio area, and it's just filler stuff.I sent it to her to get her initial feedback, and she's telling me that some things aren't displaying. Like the text in the bio section, or the photo in the bio section, and that things are generally 'screwy'.She's using a Mac OS 10.4, Safari 2.0. I got her to update her flash player, that didn't do it. I"ve never used a Mac so this is very foreign to me, and I'm entirely confused about it. Everyone else I"ve asked seems to not be having a problem at all, so I'm hoping maybe some of you find people could click the link and see if things seem to show up. Note that there is just placeholder stuff in the other areas for now.
I have a for loop which is grabbing data from a xml file and showing it to the user.. my problem is that I want to show 5 for let's say.. 30 seconds.. and then making a transition and show another 5 elements.
I can make the condition like:
Code: if(info.length() >= 5){ for (var i:int = 0; i < 5; i++) {
and I show the first 5. But what now? How do I hide those and show the next five?
I'm new to actionscript 3.0. I'm facing a problem on my flash file that I created. I did a carousel through scripting but the carousel was hidden behind a background image that i added on one of the layer. What can be the problem for the carousel to be hidden behind the background image?here is the code for the carousel:
const NUMBER_OF_ITEMS:uint = 8; var menuItems:Array = new Array(); var txtArray:Array = ["Pop/Rock", "Hip Hop", "Electrónica", "Jazz", "Ambient", "Folk",
I have created a CoverFlow Carousel and would like to put a gradual fading (black to white) background directly behind it. In other words the background should be visible behind each of the images in the carousel. I have tried creating a new layer and inserting a rectangle with a gradual fill on it and have made sure this layer is positioned underneath the layer where my carousel is on but when I play the flash clip my background appears over the carousel. I also tried creating a container around the carousel but I don't quite know how that works. I attached my main class, the coverflow class and the container class which I tried to create but which doesn't seem to do anything.
I have several text fields (with different numbers written on them) each inside their own movie clip. There is a background underneath all of them. What I want to achieve is to cut the shape of each of the numbers into the background. They should still be able to behave as separate movie clips.
I made a website a year back or so and I'm having to update it now. However I've noticed the flash menu I have on the site doesn't seem to appear correctly anymore when I check in on a PC using IE.
Basically in the bottom left hand corner the swf background colour should appear grey (#333333) not white. Seems to work fine on Safari and Firefox.
I have an Image object that gets resized to the containers size when the image loads.The images that it will load are dynamic in size so after resize I end up with a sliver of the image object's white background showing.How can I make the Image object not have a white background and be transparent.Parts of the PNG's have transparent parts but show up as white due to the white background of the object is it loaded into.
I want to make my SWF be on the very top of the page, but beneath the header. The SWF automatically adjusts its size based on the browser's; I want it to take up as much room as possible at all times while still being able to see everything, which I have.
The problem is 2 things: one, I have something flying in and out (from the top) and you can see it in the white-space around the SWF when it is not in on the stage. Two, the whole vertical alignment thing. I want it to be DIRECTLY under the header, not centered.
I'm using Dreamweaver to make this webpage by the way.... I'm not really sure which end this is- Dreamweaver or Flash...
When I open my actions window, it is automatically sized too far lengthwise. With this being said, I cannot read the last 10-15 lines of my coding. I cannot reach the corner resizing tab since it is at the bottom of the window (window resizing does not work on the top corners) which extends past the bottom of my screen. Does anybody know how I can fix it so that I can resize this window to fit on my screen properly?
Is it possible to disable buttons in a movie clip that is on the root level so that a movie loaded on top of it into level1 doesn't have any hot spots? My file is a map that starts as a movieclip with buttons in level0. There is another movieclip/button that when clicked loads a detail map on top into level1. I would like to have some new buttons in the level1 movie clip but the buttons in level0 are still active and it's confusing to the user. As a workaround, I've created an invisible button covering the entire detail map that doesn't do anything other than change the cursor to the pointing finger.
I'm guessing the answer to my question is no, and the solution lies in the hitTest method. But just to be sure . . . if I create a new movie clip and then drag that movie clip over other movie clips that have MOUSE_OVER listeners is there anyway that those clips will get the mouse over?
How do I determine what objects are underneath a given x or y coordinate on the stage or within a sprite? Preferably, I'd like to be able to do this so that a class that extends Sprite and is a child of the Stage can determine what's underneath a given x coordinate of itself, regardless of position on the stage. This has to be done without user input.
I'm not clear on what methods might make sense for this. The hitTest stuff requires more info than I'm likely to have. Maybe localToGlobal, but to use that, I need to know what the objects are already. There are a finite number of them, so I could have them testing for this all the time, but that doesn't seem right and may not even get me what I'm looking for.
I've got a sprite object that gets a custom shape loaded into it, that gets used as a mask so as to cut out a custom shape from an image that is loaded in with a loader object - The loader(loada) and shape(lines) objects are both children of the sprite object - I've added code to save out the image from beneath the mask but when the save function is called nothing is saved out, and no errors are thrown.[code]
I have a flash file that uses Mouse.hide() and sartDrag() to show a custom cursor. The problem is that when the cursor is above a button or movie clip (via level or layer), it doesn't work... sometimes it flickers a bit, but that's it.
This is the weird part:
When I move the custom curser beneath the button or mc, (via level or layer), it works perfectly.
Ok kiddies. I've been toying with AS and trig. and have a little wiggly worm that half-heartedly responds to the mouse just as I want. It's created by looping 30 times through a for loop and using attachmovie() like this.
for(i=0; i<30; i++){ attachMovie("mcCircle", "mcCircle" + i, i, {_x:mx[i], _y:my[i]}); }
As you can see for their depths I have used the increment of the for loop. So I have 30 clips with depths from 0 to 29. On the other hand, the graphics which have been statically placed on the stage have these depths.
What I need is to place the mcCircle clips underneath some of the objects on the stage. Imparticularly, the menu bar at the top of the stage and the logo at the bottom while staying on top of the background. I just want it to look like it's going behind these two graphics. I've tried a number of things and have ran out of ideas. By the way - the bottom of frame 27 of the actions layer has the code that is outputting the depths in the Output panel in Flash.
I have some floating window that opens above my page. The problem is that I don't want buttons above to be trigerable. I tried to put an movieclip on bottom layer of floating window and tell him not to show hand cursor, but it looks as if my floating window is transparent. I could still push buttons below and cursor would change into hand. [URL] go to button "ostalo" and click any of galleries. Then go over reed floating window and you'll notice that you can push buttons underneath.
I made a .as Class where some graphical elements are spawned into the stage. However, the Flash (.fla) have some internal graphics that are supposed to be over the graphical elements spawned from the custom class.I tried to make another layer over the layer where the as3 Class is being called, but unfortunately it doesn't do anything, the graphic from the .as still appearing over the internal .fla graphics.
using an older version of flash, but it's what i got... also, not really well-versed on flash - i've always just used enough to get by..i have an illustrated room with a few hot spots spread out in it (yes, you've seen it before a million times)... when you click a hot spot, a window pops up with media that will play in it...i have a work-in-progress here:problem is, when you click the button (in this example, it's the record player) and the window pops up, the record player button is still "hot" (?) under the box...sigh, i wish i knew more about this and could explain it better..
I have a container MovieClip called Drags where I can drag stamps (other MovieClips)--they are added to the Drags container via addChild. I have a second container MovieClip above that one (display order-wise) call Paint that contains a bmp, and some sprites used for adding a layer of paint.
My question is this: I need to be able to click on the Paint layer when I am above a draggable MovieClip and trigger the MouseEvent for the correct object to drag it around, but the item must always remain below the Paint layer.
I want to embed some video into my HTML page. As background I want to use big picture. And above it I want to insert loop video with (i.e.) walking man.So, can I embed video (without flash and any player controls) in page?Can I decode video with transparent background? Is there any codecs which support transparent background (alpha-channel)?
