ActionScript 3.0 :: Catch Events Under Masked Movieclip

I have a masked movieclip that has let's say a hole in it. It's called mc1. I also have another movieclip under it called mc2 that appear from under mc1 because of the hole in mc1. But when I write event handlers for them when i click mc2 from mc1's hole , just mc1 catches the event and mc2 doesn't catch any event. Here is my simple code :

I have two movie clip on the stage. The movieclip mc1 has a masked layer in it self that the movieclip seen like a ring ( like it has a hole in it ) and the movieclip2 is simple square movieclip that is under the movclip1 on the stage. So movieclip2 is seen from within the hole of the movieclip1 but it doesn't catch events when i click mc2 (the movieclip under) from within the hole of the mc1.[code]...

I am implementing an application timeout feature (flex4). What I am finding is that mouse and keyboard events, which I have listened to with :
FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, resetLastActivity);
FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, resetLastActivity);
are being masked by the existence of any popup windows. The code is in a component, in the constructor. The component is added to the main application in the block.
How can I get these system generated events to not get stopped by PopUpManager display objects?

why the swf does not catch any keyboard events? When i Ctrl+Enter my .fla there is a message appearing that says: "Your content will not stream. Runtime Shared Library (RSL) preloading will require all of your content to download before the first frame will play. To prevent this you can change the Runtime Shared Library Library Settings in the Advanced ActionScript 3.0 Settings dialog which can be raised from the Public Settings dialog. This isn't an exact duplicate of AS3: add event listener to loaded swf, actually it seems to be a mirror situation with non-mirror solution..
I have a test flash file that registers its own listener at first frame's actions.
trace("it's going to be OK");
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, aKey);
Unfortunately neither line works when .swf is loaded into another movie. Assuming that stage object is wrong for such situations, which object should be used to get listener?
Is it necessary to rewrite loader in parent swf, as said in the linked question?

I have an editable mx:Combobox. I want to catch two events: When a user enters some text, or edits some text.When a user changes the selection (selects an item from the combo box).Is it possible? I have been using change event, but it is fired in both cases and I can't differentiate it. Is there a better way of doing this?

I have a BorderContainer with some instances of spark Line. I need to select this lines by clicking on this. But adding event mouse click listener fails. ASdoc [URL] says that line have only activate and deactivate events. Any best way to detect whether line clicked (use another line class?). I think that catching of clicks in the bordercontainer is bad solution.

handling global keyboard events in Flex, is to attach a listener in the application complete event of a Flex application. However, no matter what I try, I have not been able to catch events without clicking on a point on the page, which is hosting my Flex application.
Moreoever, if I use a Flex component in a web application, where there is also html and Javascript, I'd still like to be able to grap global keyboard events, even if the embedded flex component (in flash player) does not have focus. So is there a reliable method for connecting flex applications and components (when they're embedded in a web page) to keyboard events?

In Flash AS3 i wanna write the single try catch block in order to catch any errors in whole class. For ex, i have a lot of functions in myClass.as. I don'w wanna write in each function try catch blocks in order to catch errors in this function. Is there any methods to do this?

I have a movieclip that I am masking dynamically. The reason for masking the movieclip is because it can be different heights depending on user feedback to some questions. I want to add a scrollbar if the movieclip exceeds the mask area that will allow the user to scroll to see the rest of the movieclip.

I'm trying to mask a movieclip using a mask created with AS3 but it changes the color of the movieclip being masked. I would like the mask to not change the color of the masked movieclip. Here is my code:
mask_mc.mask=masked_mc;

The masked movieclip becomes the same color as the color defined in beginFill. In the example above, masked_mc turns black (as defined in beginFill). Removing beginFill masked everything and revealed nothing. masking with AS3 without changing the color of the movieclips being masked.

Is there anything to opposite of setMask. Actually I want that, when I click a button then a movieclip will be masked by some predefined shape (working as mask object). when I click another button he mask will be gone. That means the object under the mask will go out of the mask.

I have a situation where I am allowing the user to drag a movieclip by means of startDrag and setting a rectangle. However while they are dragging this about, I want to register when the mouse moves over another object, however I can't seem to get this to work while they are dragging the object.

I'm trying to create flash app where a single jpeg (person headshot) is loaded into the masked movieclip (same size as passport photo) (using loadMovie), then user can edit the image (drag inside mask, zoom, rotate) and then after pressing a button the app duplicates the EDITED image 4 times - to make sort of headshot sheet.
While I know how to load movie, drag single clip or scale it, I have no idea how to duplicate the movieclip once is edited, to make identical copies of it (scaled, rotated...)If I use duplicateMovieClip it won't work since it won't duplicate the loaded image.

My stage size if 300x300 and I have three movie clips each of size 100x100. So there will be three movie clips on the stage. Now my problem when I Click on one movie clip, the onMouseDown event handler of all the three movie clips are being executed. Is there any way for restricting the event handling to only that particular movie clip which was clicked by the user ..?

Beginning with actionscript, I need help with this: Several movieclips are on the stage with a button event assigned to it.
Example:
btn1.onPress = function(){
bubble.gotoAndPlay(1);
}
I want each one of them to be clicked for another movieclip to be loaded. I would need a code example for doing something like that. I tried many things...but since i'm really beginning nothing seems to work.

I'm currently just testing a few items in Flash. While I'm in this early stage, it'd be quite handy for this particular project if there were a way to assign events to every item in a certain MC (or on _root).
Here's what I've done thus far:

Currently I'm trying to learn AS3/CS4. And today I discovered a problem I never had in AS2. I have a button which is below a movieclip. This movieclip has no buttons inside or something like that. So the roll over from the button shouldn't be overruled I thought. This is not true. The roll over, out and click doesn't work on the button anymore. How can I get the button to work again (without removing the movieclip of course). I uploaded a file so you don't have to make it yourself.

Suppose, I created a MovieClip(with instance-name= "myClip") on the stage. If I need to process MouseEvent.CLICK event on this movieclip(myClip), then we use addEventListener(bla.... bla...); method.
Now, my requirement is, in certain case, I do not want to occur any MouseEvent.CLICK events on this same movieClip(i.e., myClip).Then, How to do this? (or) What is the method/class used in this context?
Atlast, My requirement is: How to remove/disable Mouse_CLICK events when occur on a MovieCLip.

I have two MovieClips, and both are controlled by keyboard events. One is a globe that I want to rotate in one direction or the other. The second is a walking animation that should change direction or stand still depending on which key is pressed or if none are.
Here is the AS Code:

You can see that I've tried a few different methods, but neither has worked correctly. Using the timer came close, but then the globe kept speeding up, and I couldn't get the walking animation to default back to the standing animation. Here is the .fla [URL].

I want a transparent movie clip that displays a tool tip when you roll over it. Beneath that movie clip I have other movie clips that I want to be clickable. Unfortunately having the "onRollOver" event on the top layer movie clip blocks the "onRelease" events of the lower movie clips. If I move the smaller movie clips on top it will work but I have to setup a tool tip for each of them (and it disappears and reappears when I move from one MC to another). I also thought about using the "onMouseMove" event and doing a hit test, but that seems less efficient.
