I have a BorderContainer with some instances of spark Line. I need to select this lines by clicking on this. But adding event mouse click listener fails. ASdoc [URL] says that line have only activate and deactivate events. Any best way to detect whether line clicked (use another line class?). I think that catching of clicks in the bordercontainer is bad solution.

I have a project where I display content from an array. I also need to display ratings- which is between 1- 5 stars, works fine with correct alternate shading for each line- however, when I mouse-over, the skinnable countainer in the itemrenderer(named cont) still retains the original color it had for that row. As we are using fxg graphics, we have a a skinnable container box containing the ratings with one shade, that lies just within the larger table - with row color having changed on mouse-over. Screenshot attached- you can see the thin patch of blue between the ratings box(dark grey) and the highlighed row on mouseover...
I was told to shift from Datagrid to List to resolve this and for better performance- seems like a biggish task which I messed up.As an easier alternative, was looking to I would like to either
a) get the skinnable container color to disappear, so I see single color in a row on mouseover
b) disable the color change on mouseover for the grid rows, so this issue is avoided .The datagrid is very straighforward as below

handling global keyboard events in Flex, is to attach a listener in the application complete event of a Flex application. However, no matter what I try, I have not been able to catch events without clicking on a point on the page, which is hosting my Flex application.
Moreoever, if I use a Flex component in a web application, where there is also html and Javascript, I'd still like to be able to grap global keyboard events, even if the embedded flex component (in flash player) does not have focus. So is there a reliable method for connecting flex applications and components (when they're embedded in a web page) to keyboard events?
My basic requirement is to draw a circle inside a BorderContainer with the layout set to BasicLayout.I run this method in the CREATION_COMPLETE event of the BorderContainer object.[code]I know I must be missing something VERY basic here. Can I just draw like this OR should I draw in some other event? I know that I can create a Ellipse object and easily add it to the border container but I would like to know how I can do this using the graphics object.
View 3 RepliesI'm using an accordion container that has it's creation policy set to auto. One of the accordion's children is a spark border container that has a data grid within it. Currently, I'm using the data grid's creationComplete property to call a function; similarly, I'm using the dragComplete property to call another function.
How can I add listeners for events (creationComplete & dragComplete) via actionscript? The obvious problem is that the accordion does not create all its children on creation (nor do I want it to), so I can't simply use something like: datagrid.addEventListener(...)

I don't seem to have sufficient mouseclick events for both. I am avoiding using the right click as it has some default options(whose signing off will affect the whole project- not just this). I have mouse click used for change value- how do I use the doubleclick as the single-click events seems to get invoked prior?

But when I write event handlers for them when i click mc2 from mc1's hole , just mc1 catches the event and mc2 doesn't catch any event. Here is my simple code :

I have a test flash file that registers its own listener at first frame's actions.

The movieclip mc1 has a masked layer in it self that the movieclip seen like a ring ( like it has a hole in it ) and the movieclip2 is simple square movieclip that is under the movclip1 on the stage. I am working on a project where I want to add a click listener to the root DisplayObjectContainer, which, if the user clicks on a UIComponent, will add a red border to whatever the user clicked on. Currently, my code to do so looks something like this:[code]Unfortunately, nothing actually happens. The UI component the user clicks on remains distinctly un-bordered. I've tested event.target and am reasonably sure that it does actually point to the UI Component the user clicked on; I also used Alerts to make sure that the if statement was actually executing fully.

The problem with this code is that as you drag the object to the right, you will see in the trace that occasionally some random localX values arrive there, resulting in the object jerking from side to side.
I have a base ShapeContainer(UIComponent). I add a uicomponent which has mouse down listener to ShapeContainer. the listener works great. When I add a simple sprite(draw square) on the ShapeContainer, The listener does not work any more. In the code, if I comment below line, The event listener works fine.

1. When I put the mask on container (container.rawchildren.addchildren + container.mask = mask) and the dropshadowfilter on container (container. filters = [glow]), I cannot detect the mouse events.
2. When I put the mask on the promopanel (this.rawchildren.addchildren + this.mask = mask) and the dropshadowfilter on promopanel (this.filters = [glow]), I cannot detect the mouse events.
3. When I put the mask in a component and the filter in another, it does not work either.
4. If I remove the mask OR the filter, it works!! But I need them both...
So, does anyone has an idea on how to make this work? I've been trying to look for issues with filters, masks and mouseevents but haven't found anything that could enlighten this issue.
I am implementing an application timeout feature (flex4). What I am finding is that mouse and keyboard events, which I have listened to with :
FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, resetLastActivity);
FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, resetLastActivity);
are being masked by the existence of any popup windows. The code is in a component, in the constructor. The component is added to the main application in the block.
How can I get these system generated events to not get stopped by PopUpManager display objects?
Is this the most efficient way to listen to mouse events on the background of a group?

seems pretty minimal, but alpha = 0 is not the most efficient thing out there.
I have made a hierarchy in which there is a main page, using add element i have attached a component mxml of type group. There is a single button on main page when clicked it should add children of type group in that group type mxml component along with two buttons. Now using one of buttons i am attaching another component mxml type group. the problem is even they overlap i can still excess the children groups of first group component mxml.
View 2 RepliesIf my understanding of Flex is correct, skins in Flex are just DisplayObjects that are added as children to UIComponents to create the visual representation of the object. But if my understanding of the Flash event model is correct, if there is a non-transparent DisplayObject on top of another, mouse events will go to the topmost DisplayObject. The overlapped DisplayObject won't receive any mouse input.
So how is it that skinned Flex UIComponents work at all?
Im working with a flex application that pulls data from a java class file using message handler event. The received message string is added to ArrayCollection. The string consists of codeID and other values related to codeID. Had displayed the detail in a datagrid. The codeID is randomly generated and is pushed to flex for every second. Now, the problem is, I needa update the datagrid cell values, for instance, if i have pushed codeID's of (0001,0007,0005,0003) to the front end, that displays the corresponding values of each codeID in the datagrid, second instance of (0001) should update records in the existing row of (0001). I tried to check the existence of codeID in ArrayCollection using search algorithm, but dont know how to proceed further.
View 1 RepliesI have a Group on my View, and i'm trying to fill it with some collor and add an mouse event on it, all dynamicaly.the problem is, when i add the mouse event, the group simply turns invisible again. It still exists on the view and responds normally to the mouse event, but i cant see it.here's an code example:

without the mouse event, the group is visible, but it vanishes when i try to add it. i've tried with other events, like the ENTER_FRAME Event and it works normaly, but all the mouse events that i tried turn the Group invisible.i've actually solved my problem using the opaqueBackground property, the Group don't vanish when i add the event this whay. But now i'm curious about the reason of this behavior.
