The actual seek to the cue points breaks i.e does not happen throught. if its previous it goes to the first cue point. if its forward seek it breaks n goes to the first frame after a few seeks.

Flash - CurveTo Function - Finding X And Y Points Dynamically

I need to find the curveX and curveY

Here is the actual class file. You can directly compile it with an fla file containing button instances in the library for play pause stop... Also you would need some sample flv file.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Animated Curve Drawing Between Any Points Dynamically?

Sep 18, 2006

I have a world map on which I display some data. I read long and lat coordinates for two countries from an XML file which is updated with different coordinates everytime. I then map the coordinates to X-Y axis using some projection method.

So, I have x-y coordinates for two countries. I wanna draw a curved line between those countries but curveTo method draws the curve in one shot. I want to animate the curve drawing part so it looks like it is being drawn real time.

Actionscript 3 :: Calculating Evenly Distributed Points On A Line Of Points

Oct 3, 2011

I have been tasked with trying to create a drawing tool that draws dotted lines as you drag the mouse across the stage. I can easily capture the points on MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE and store them in a vector and then draw the points as dots:

The problem is that I need to calculate evenly distributed points on an ever growing Vector of points so I can only draw the line between say every 5th point (say using modulus). I have been battling away with Bezier curve equations both Quadratic and Cubic but still can't quite figure out how to convert my Vector of points into an evenly distributed Vector of Points without sucking the life from the CPU.

AS3 :: Flash - Get The Two Points Of A Line?

Oct 15, 2011

I have a component (link to Test class) which contain one line in it, and I put one point of this line to (0, 0).

Then drag it to Flash(fla), and get its Shape in AS3 like:

// in Test.as
// assume that the movie clip only contain one line.
var line:Shape = Shape(getChildAt(0));

And I can get one point of this line which is x and y of var line. But how to get another point of this line?

Edit:
Ignore component stuff above, here has another question but I guess it pretty much the same as the question above:

Draw a line from (0, 0) to (10, 10) and draw another line from (10, 0) to (0, 10), how to get those lines of two-point form in AS3?

If I access them as Shape then I get two similar shapes which have same x, y, width and height values. Does AS3 has some way to access line as a REAL line not just a shape? or does it has any way I can calculate it out?

This is the existing script - I don't know how to get the lines to follow the points. Something to do with ENTER_FRAME or updateAfterEvent?

Flash Supports Subtitles With Cue Points And XML Files For Flash Video

Jun 24, 2010

I understand that Flash supports subtitles with cue points and XML files for flash video. First, I don't know if that would work for a flash animation, and second, I'm looking for a much simpler solution. I am more than willing to manually add and time my subtitles myself on a new layer. What I need help with is finding the simplest way possible to make these subtitles toggle-able. Why? Because I seem to have a serious allergy to ActionScript, and though I can master programs like 3D studio Max and After Effects, I seem to screw up even the simplest of Actionscript jobs.

Is there some way I can make a button that simply makes my subtitles layer invisible across the whole thing? Maybe a command to change the font to a blank one, or to move the titles off screen? There has to be SOME sort of trick that won't require me to drop a load of code into each instance of text. I'm currently using Actionscript 3.0 with Flash CS4. I'd also love to have a pause button that would also stop any music or sound effects that are playing, but after struggling with that for years, I seriously doubt that's going to happen. I did google this subtitles problem, and search flashkit first. Nothing but VIDEO subtitle stuff, and I'm almost positive it wont work the same for a regular animation.

Flash 9 :: Anchor Points In Canvas Resize?

Oct 13, 2008

I've got a flash animation of an extruding box drawn frame-by-frame for a "hand drawn" effect. The problem is that I now need to make twice as many frames to allow the box to extrude twice as far, and the canvas is too small to support this; the box would end up outside of bounds. I've tried resizing the canvas, but the extended space is at the opposite end of the canvas from where I need it. In photoshop you could chose where the added space "grew from" but I don't see that option here. Anyone knw a work around It'd be a pain in the tail to have to move very object in every frame for every layer.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Vector Class Containing Flash.geometry.Points?

Aug 29, 2010

import flash.geom.Point; I am trying to write a game using the new Vector class.  Then Vector will  be composed of flash.geom.Point (s). However, when I try to use the concat funtion to return another vector with a series of Points added to the end of the vector, I will get: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.geom::Point@bce8901 to __AS3__.vec.Vector.<*>. at Vector.<*>$/castToThisType() Action script is saying that I am trying to convert a vector to Point to a vector.  I do not see how this is the case. In the example below, I have declared adjoiningPoints to be of:var adjoiningPoints:Vector.<Point>;

When I call path.concat( myNextPoint );  I get the above error.  In order to troubleshoot  the problem, added the additional lines declaring 'iAPath'.  When I work with the arrays everything works fine. The arrays are entirely populated with points and there is no error.

I understand how to get the cue points in, but most people only seem to want to handle the cue point events within Flash. How about when it's the standard Flash playback component? Does there need to be any special Actionscript in the SWF containing the FLV?

Flash :: Collision And Bounce Detection From Array Of Points

Sep 18, 2011

I have an array of points that I will use to generate a closed polygonal fence on the outside of a game stage (2D). I wish to have collision detection between this fence and a bouncing ball-like object on the inside. Additionally, I would like to be able to arbitrarily add/remove/redraw the fence in realtime and have the collision detection still operate realistically. I have considered drawing a Sprite/Shape from the points and doing a HitTest at each frame to check whether to bounce or not. My question: is this the best/correct way to accomplish this goal? Consider something like JezzBall with diagonal lines of any angle a simulation of what I'm trying to do.

Actionscript 3 :: Flash - Create An Array Of Coordinate Points?

Dec 12, 2011

I want to create a simple array of points, representing a clockwise set of coordinates at 45 degree increments, such that the array would be (starting from 12 o'clock):

var coordArray : Array = [
new Point(0,-1),
new Point(1,-1),
new Point(1,0),[code]........

I'm looking for the most efficient way of creating this array (ideally with the coordinates themselves generated through some sort of equation). What's the best way to do this? All I want to do with these is create a coordinate on the stage relative to the clips current coordinate in which to move, based on that clips, such that if the move distance for clips was 50px, and the clip had a depth of 0, it would move 50px in the coordArray[0] position, or 0*50 in the x direction, and -50px in the y direction (0,-1).

Flash - Interpolate Between Two Points For Higher Resolution Drawing?

Jan 16, 2012

In flash, I use lineTo to draw a line between two points. This is working well, but I'm finding that on slower computers, the line is jagged because not as many mouse events are firing.I want to 'smooth' the line out, to add more points in between each point that the mouse registers:

The black lines show the result, the green ones are what I want. The red dots are actual points, and the green ones are interpolated.I have tried to code this myself but I can't seem to get it right, here is the code anyway:

var interX:Number = lastMouseX+(lastMouseSpeed.x/2);
var interY:Number = lastMouseY+(lastMouseSpeed.y/2);
//Also tried: lastMouseX+(this.mouseX-lastMouseX)/2;
// also jittery

[code]....

the result is much more jagged than the normal one.
