ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash KeyNav Through Array Of Functions

Aug 19, 2010

I'm basically creating a glorified Powerpoint presentation... except a lot more "flashy". If there is a better way to do this, just tell me.

I have each "slide" basically as a function of animations (done with greensock tweenlite).

I want to be able to go to the next slide (function) in the list by pressing the right arrow key. And back with the left key, etc...

[URL]

Everything i've tried to make keeps breaking. Forgive my non flash eliteness.

The code that i do have... but like i said i need it to go to the next function (in an array i guess).

Code:
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keycontrol);
function keycontrol(event:KeyboardEvent):void
{
switch (event.keyCode)

Here is the code:

Flash - Add Functions To Playerglobal.swc Or Allow Compiler To Pass Own Functions

Oct 25, 2011

Im adding lot of simple functions to prototypes of top level objects ( Object , Array , String ...) and have 2 questions :

Is possible to add functions to top level's classes in compile-time ?

If not , is there a way to allow this functions to compile ? I dont like to turn off strict mode

ex:

string.removeWhiteSpace();
string.sliceStr("." , "end");
textField.scrollBottom();

this return compile-time error , cause there is no such function , i have to write it in braces :

string["removeWhiteSpace"]();
string["sliceStr"]("." , "end");
textField["scrollBottom"]();

and i like to aviod it )

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create An Array Of Functions In It?

Oct 7, 2009

Suppose you have a round based RPG type game. The player issues directives to his units, your enemy AI issues directives to its units. The problem is that the functions for those directives then have to be executed in a specific order with no relation to the order they were input in and all at the same time with the push of one button.

I just need a little direction here, I just spent the last fifteen minutes searching "AS3 Array of Functions" before figuring out that maybe that's not the way you do it in AS3.

Essentially, I'm looking for the way to store functions, put them in a list to be sorted in a specific order and then execute them in said order.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Way To Store Functions In An Array

Nov 12, 2005

Is there a way to store functions in an array so that I can then call the _array[num] to call the function? The _array will be sorted that is why I am wanting to call the functions through the array.I am using the Tween class's onMotionFinished to create a series of events like pan, zoom, fade, etc.Because the order of the sequence of events will likely change based on user interaction I am not able to hard-code the onMotionFinshed to perform a specific function. So I figure I would store the functions in a function_array and use a counter var to store the current location in the sequence of events. Or maybe a "pause" & "resume" command inside of a for loop?

Here is the array that I have:

Code:
var currentButtonId:Number = 0;
var buttons:Array = [btn1, btn2, btn3, btn4, btn5, btn6];
function buttonRelease() {

[Code]....

It enables and disables the movieclips depending on which one is clicked. But I want to make the xml functions (firstImage(), secondImage()...) go with the buttons in sequence. So once btn1 gets pressed the firstImage() xml function gets called.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [FMX] Array Math, Graphing Functions

Dec 2, 2003

I want to make a graph. Specifically, a graph of a normal population distribution.I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the best way for me to do this is to use two arrays for coordinates and use the lineTo function to connect the dots:

- An Index array up to about 300 as the "x-axis"

- A Second array to represent the "y-axis" created using the formula for normal population applied to each entry of the index array

So I need to create these two arrays in FMX. the first array i think should be created with a For loop: for(i=0;i<a.length;i++){} The second array somehow applying my formula to each entry in array 1.I believe my methods are correct, but I am having a great deal of trouble getting the AS down properly and I can't find many good sources on it.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Functions Applied To Button Array Not Execute Properly

Nov 6, 2008

I have some functions that when applied directly to buttons work as planned, but when I create a function from them to apply to the array, they fail to execute properly. This function is meant to set all 56 buttons to alpha 0, and as unselected. What happens is the buttons flash onscreen at 100% before setting to alpha 0. They do behave as if unselected, but don't know if that's due to the code.

Code:
for (_root.i = 0;i<56;i++){
_root["btn"+_root.i].onEnterFrame = function() {
this._alpha = 0;
this.bSelected = false;
this.onEnterFrame = null;
}}

This function should fade the button up on rollover. But on rollover the button only increase by 10% then stops. Each subsequent rollover increases it another 10%.
Code:
for (_root.i = 0;i<56;i++){
_root["btn"+_root.i].onRollOver = function() {
this._alpha<100 ? this._alpha += 10 : this.onEnterFrame = "";
}}

This function should fade the button out on rollout. Since the rollover increases them only by 10% increments (above), the result is the buttons just bounce back and forth between alpha 20 and 30.
Code:
for (_root.i = 0;i<56;i++){
_root["btn"+_root.i].onRollOut = function() {
(this._alpha>20 && this.bSelected==false) ? this._alpha -= 10 : this.onEnterFrame = "";
}}

Last one: This function should set several behaviors on release. Right now none of them appear to work.
Code:
for (_root.i = 0;i<56;i++){
_root["btn"+_root.i].onRelease = function() {
this.bSelected = true;
this.enabled = false;
pastBtn.enabled = true;
pastBtn._alpha = 20;
pastBtn.bSelected = false;
pastBtn = this;
}}

ActionScript 3.0 :: External Movies Communication (Array / Functions And Variables)

Jun 23, 2009

I'm new on AS3, I'll try to explain what my project consists: Well, There is a main.fla and It loads external movies triggered by button items. The content animation sequence introduction starts with tweenLite and fills the stage with elements from Library (movieClips, buttons) and some sprites. I've built the intro animation through actionscript. Perhaps I'll need to explain how I did it the TweenLite structure, but the code lines are too long

The transitions / navigation:
Each button before load the external movie has a respective animation that removes the other buttons from the stage. It triggers an "outro" animation and then loads the External Swf.

First:
Each external Swfs contains a removeChild action in a MovieClip that CLOSES and removes the movie.. Like a "pop up" with a close action. After closed It should replay the intro animation and replace the buttons in the stage but it's not happening because I don't know how to communicate between different timelines / external movies.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Mimicing The Until Functions - Load Of Global Functions In One File?

So when I call Test(), it prints out "hello world" fine. My problem comes in that I can't change the name of the Test function, and I can't add any other functions without compiler errors. Is it possible to have a load of global functions in one file, or do I have to split them up into separate files like in the example? Also, I know that I can make a Global class and call static functions like Code: Global.doSomething() but I'd like to know if there's a way to do it as flash does it (describeType(), getDefinitionByName(), etc), or rather, how does flash do it?
