ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading And Store Images Externally?

I have the jist of how to load external images into as3. One thing that I do not understand is how to pull all the images needed and store them so that when you want to view a specific image it is not loading the image again.

I need help on how to pull about 10 images externally and store them in to movieclips or something so that when I roll over a button to display this image it will just call the movieclip and display the movie clip with a preloaded image already. I am also doing this dynamically.

I know how to build a simple slideshow. The particular slideshow that I'm working on has 50 images, and with all those images in the library, it makes the file 23MG and takes forever to load.Should I load the images externally? I know how to do that when using a thumbnail, or button, but how would I do that so that it loads in as a slideshow?

I am using an array to store images that I load from xml. I have an enterframe event that transforms the image, it changes the width. I have used concat to make a "copy" of the array of images. When I try to access the first array of the "untouched" images the width is changed. How can I always have a "fresh" array of the images?

I'm going to show a bunch of images in a slideshow.Since everybody hate waiting for things to load, I thought it would be a good idea to load all the images in the background while the user is clicking on other things. - user enters page-- design and menues are loaded--- the page is showed to the user---- images used in other parts of the flash-site is loading "behind the scenes".When the user finally open the slideshow, he/she don't have to wait for the images to load.This is my code:

I was wondering if there was a way in Flash to preview externally loaded images in Flash while still working.I am loading images externally to keep the file size down on a piece of elearning but now I'm afraid maintenance will be a nightmare since you don't actually see the screens until you publish. I have interactions on the screens so I need to see them for their placement on screen.

I've made an image gallery which loads images from an XML-specified folder. My function doGallery(urlPath); is using an URL-Path as an argument, which allows me to load new images and create a new gallery with these at runtime.The function will store loader objects in a gallery array, which is then cleared and overwritten once a new gallery with new images are made.So far so good. However it seems as if I have to re-download the same images as I have already once loaded, if I decide to go back to a previously visited gallery. I assume this is because I overwrite and clear the array which contains my previous loaders. Could anyone confirm this and possibly offer a solution? I hope I'm making myself clear enough for you to grasp my issue here.

I've been looking into how to crossfade externally loaded .jpgs.So far everything I have found deals with slideshows and seems more complicated than what I need.I have created a new Loader that will load a .jpg when the thumbnail of the corresponding image is clicked.I am trying to get the currently loaded image to crossfade upon load completion of the new image being loaded.I'm thinking I can define a variable that is the current image in the loader and then on completion of loading of the new image run a function that fades out the current image and fades in the new image simultaneously.I am having problems trying to identify the currently loaded image of the loader into a variable.

currently doing this - each layer is stored as png file. with one text file contain all layers name etc

create one big png file, put all data in it as tiles. read tiles while loading..

create some custom format.

I'm creating an image scroller in AS2 that pulls images into Flash from an external folder, as determined by an XML file. The program use a MovieClipLoader to load the external images into series of empty, and temporarily invisible, movie clips that are created inside a for loop. Once the attached listener determines that the clips are all loaded, their visibility is turned on and they begin scrolling. Everything had been going fine, until I tried to add functionality to each of the four images that had been loaded. All I want to do is generate a trace statement that says "success" when I mouse over each of the four external images in the scroller. I can use that as a springboard to continue working...

Here is the problem: "Success" IS traced out upon rollover, but only once - when you roll over the last image that was pulled in from the RSS feed and into the for loop. It does not apply to any of the other images. It seems like the functionality on the other images is created but them somehow instantly destroyed or overwritten as the for loop continues to run and the MovieClipListener updates itself. But I am not sure. If this were simply a series of movie clips or images being pulled in from the Flash library, I wouldn't have this problem. However, the external images and the MovieClipLoader are confusing things.

Trying to load images dynamically from library NOT externally since i want these images to be loaded when the site is launched. Basically i have several buttons, each button returns an event that throws a specific image name to grab. Here is the function;

I'm still an amateur at flash (more precisely, actionscript), how to do a simple gallery with static thumbnails which, when clicked, dynamically load an image into an empty movie clip, fading in and out (using actionscript)? By that I mean, click on a thumbnail, main image fades in, click on another thumbnail, loaded image fades out, image of clicked thumbnail fades in. Is it possible? I have successfully achieved thumbnails that load an image externally using both XML and using the ordinary loadMovie function, opting in the end for the loadMovie function and modifying AnaS' [URL] code (some of his comments are still in there). The reasons being that I'm not particularly concerned if I can't use XML for this, but I do want the images to load externally to save space.

I figure that the thumbnails are small enough in file size for me to afford to put them in, but just in case anyone think that XML is better for the job, I'm also including my XML file. On top of AnaS' code, I have added an if-else statement (lines 13-21) but, as I have said before, I'm an amateur, so I can get my head around the 'if' part of the statement, but haven't figured out the 'else' section (namely, the fade out). From what I have seen (I've been looking for the solution for a long time), most people just settle for fading the image either in or out, but rarely both. If there IS a gallery with both fades, it is usually done professionally and the code is either unavailable or goes over my head.

How to click on a thumbnail and load and unload the image using in and out fades. I have seen something which is almost what I need (both fade in and fade out are present) in the form of Kirupa's XML gallery, but I wanted to make mine just the bare essentials and really simple (i.e., no carousel/sliding effects). I just noticed that there is no tutorial for something like this. Kirupa has two very, very good tutorials (the XML portfolio, which is very simple, and the XML gallery with the slide, which is quite advanced) but not an 'in-between' one, such as the one I'm trying to create. how to make it so that it is always centered horizontally in the middle of the browser window. I am having issues making it so that it is centered vertically between 150pixels from the top to the bottom. This will make it so that if the window is small the swf will be right at y=150 but if the window is large it will have equal spacing between the top(150) and the bottom of the window.

What's the proper way of loading an flv movie externally? I was doing a project in class which utilized tweenlite and loading of a couple videos externally in a folder. The swf worked fine and even the html looked fine, but once it was loaded into the schools server, the site didn't show. The professor is not really fond of actionscript, but she does have a grasp on HTML related issues. She told me it may have been a problem with the video loading file. Externally Loading 5 Swf Files Into Main Movie?

Im have 5 swf files that I want to play one after another on my home page.

I would like to have the first movie load and play and while that is going on have the others downloading in the background so they are ready to start when the first movie finishes.

After the 5th and last movie has played I would like it then to return to the first movie and just loop this process continually.

I have attached what I have at the moment which is a file called demand.fla that uses buttons to load in demand001, demand002, deamd003 etc.

Ideally i would like demand to load in each slide automatically and then have flashmove onto the next one after 5 seconds or so.

when I press a button, the text loads into the still visible imageArea_mc text area.When a button is clicked, I have external swfs which contain 2 dynamic text boxes, named heading_txt and content_txt, loading into my main movie. They are receiving their data dynamically from an XML file. The problem I am having is that as soon as the button is clicked, the new data loads into the still visible text boxes. What I want to do (I think) is somehow tell the main movie to assign the appropriate text for each individual movie.

I have a project that first loads a preloader swf then loads a main swf. Next, other swfs load externally into the main swf. One external swf is an xml driven mp3 player. The player runs fine when opened on it's own, however, when it is loaded into the main swf, the playlist isn't actually showing up, nor is the audio playing. The components, combobox, show up but playlist is not populated nor do the controls work. Below is my source code. Note: the playlist, mp3 files, and external swfs are all in the same directory.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Get Transitions Sequences Between Externally Loading Swf's

I was just working on this tutorial: [URL]

It seems to work fine when I uploaded it to my testing site. It loads the correct swf and I can click on my menu link (the only other functional button with the action scripting) to go to another swf and it transitions correctly. Here is the problem:

After clicking on the menu link and trying to click back on the home link (containing the same swf as what initially loads) to redisplay the first swf, nothing happens. Then the menu button is unfunctional after that as well.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to get transitions sequences between externally loading swf's in my flash site.
