ActionScript 3.0 :: MovieClip That Represents Animated Overlay Of Entire Stage

Lets say I have 3 MovieClips. One that is animation that represents animated overlay of entire stage. Like falling leafs (for example)
One that represents character
One that represents background
I want to make character to be MouseEvent.CLICK interactive. The problem is when I create a particle Animation of falling leafs the single leaf that is an instance of MovieClip blocks Character mouse Interaction. Is there a qay to fix container that holds the particle animation of Leafs so that it will not block Mouse Interaction whit mc below?
Im using an animated movieclip to create a pulldown menu..the thing is that I want to anymate the buttons inside the pulldown as well..so I therefore used a similar movieclip inside the pulldown menu to make this animation
Im trying to get the sprite overlay to stick to the edges of the stage when I resize the swf window. It works when you resize the width, but not the height.
I'm just trying to load a videostream, align in the center of the stage and put it on the first visible layer.This code just loads it but align it on top-left of stage and under some layers that forbid it to be seen.[code]
I'm coding a flash video jukebox. In this movie there will be a small box with subtitles for the flv playing at the moment. The problem is that, when I press the fullscreen button, the text overlay dissapears. I think that what is really happening is that the overlay is "hiding" at the back of the video.
Is there any way to put this overlay on top of the video so it remains even if I press the "fullscreen" button on the flvplayback component?
is there any way to add an overlay image dynamically over a MovieClip? Sort of like a watermark... except that I'm not trying to make a watermark.Let me explain: I'm trying to program a gallery of videos that will be loaded dynamically through XML. Each video will come with a JPG of the same size, which will be the poster frame for said video (and will also be loaded via XML). The user will see a scrollable horizontal strip of "videos" (actually the pictures), and when he clicks on one of them, the poster frame will disappear (_visible=false) and the FLV player underneath will start playing the chosen video.
So far so good. I load the pictures via XML and put each of them in a MovieClip. I distribute the MovieClips in an horizontal strip. I add to each of them an event handler so that they start playing the video when pressed. The only thing that I don't know how to do is: how do I add to each of the MovieClips a semitransparent "Play" button? They are generated dynamically, and I don't know how many of them (i.e. how many videos) will be there beforehand, so I can't simply add them in a layer on the Stage;
flash, actionscript, and the class/method/static/instance paradigm. I do have one class that I use, it loads a png file and adds it to the stage, I can then manipulate it with the mouse. What I want to do is add some text on top of the png file. When the user clicks and drags the png file around, I want the text to stick with it, basically make it part of the png, overlay it, combine them, group them, whatever.Here is the class I am using to load the png.
I have a fullscreen flash project.Basically what I need to know how to do is resize the stage height and mask everything to the new height (I have a full page scrollbar, and it scroll to over 2x the height I want. And the height will change with each section)
The problem is, it wasn't tested well, and the stage is too big - on low resolutions or on small screen you have to scroll in order to see the lower/upper sections.I know how to resize it with HTML, but I just want to know if there's a way to scale the entire stage and all of the contained items from within flash?
I am using CS3, AS2.I have a background image that I am allowing the user to select multiple layers over the top of (layer 1: new pattern, Layer 2: design) and the movieclips have the Blend: Overlay applied to them. My problem is when they select a second option (or a second overlay is applied to the background) the overlay shows the layer belows pattern in the new layer.My question is, is there a way to have the the two movieclips ignore each other and only apply the Blend:Overlay to the background movieclip?
i have a script that creates a trail effect (i had to decompile an old swf, after losing the original fla file - so there are a few 'loc' refs in there) - what i want to do is rather than this being applied to the entire stage i want it to be masked and only appear within movieclips with the mask.there are a couple of stage references but i can't seem to change the stage refs to the mc name/s.how can i rewrite it to only work within an mc (or mc's) rather than the entire stage? also, i can place normal mc's over the effect - but the masked mc's don't work at all.[code]
I would like to create something similar to this: and only need a few things to complete it.What is missing is to make the whole flash movie (the white area, including the watches and cursor) move from left to right and right to left depending on the movement of the cursor (round circle) .. Panning effect I have attached the file i am working on..maybe that makes it easier to understand
I have an swfLoader that loads a flex swf. When the flex swf is loaded it takes up the entire stage, this does not happen with a swf of the same dimensions created in flash professional.
I have been using the evt.updateAfterEvent() whenever a mouse is clicked.Is it possible to call an update on the entire stage to remove any pixels.which are no longer being used?

This is the third thread I've written for my current project (1st was answered perfectly, 2nd failed [but I still figured it out anyways]) but I'm not sure if there is a solution to this problem. I can't really explain my problem, so once again I've included a helpful animation to show you what I mean. Bear in mind that the pale-blue box represents the movie clip's borders, and those borders are usually changed to include the animation (instead of the borders moving with the animation, the borders get bigger).
For the animation problem, I've already got a solution: create an invisible movie clip that has the exact size and shape of the animated movie clip and make it follow the movie clip as it animates, and make the hitTest check the invisible movie clip instead of the animated one. As for the rotation problem, well, I don't know how to fix it. Is there a way to change that?
I am trying to take a snapshot of an entire movieclip. Here is the function I am using:

When I pass it through the function I only get the bottom-right portion of the image. It has a centered registration point. I've tried all registration points too and the top-left (0,0) works but my project is already based around objects having a low-mid registration point: Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I just want a snapshot of the full movieclip instead of the bottom-right portion regardless of the registration point. edit: No, I'm not here to sell watermelons
The following code ist a very simple animation. I added an object to the stage by dragging it from the library. Then I applied code generated by "Copy motion as AS 3" and the animation works fine.However, if i add another object by instating it in AS, add it to the stage by stage.addChild(...), and try to animate it by adding it as a target to the AnimatorFactory nothing happens.(Probably I made a simple newbi mistake.)[code]...
With AS1/2 there was no way(that I know of) to determine the document size at runtime. You had to hard code in some vars. Although Stage.width and Stage.height would be the same as the document size when scaleMode is not 'noScale', if scaleMode is indeed 'noScale' then Stage.height and Stage.width represent the SWF size. This behavior appears the same in AS3, but I was wondering if there's any additions that make it possible?
I'm trying to create a class that represents all 52 playing card (Suit and Value), and I'm having difficulties. I'll then create a function in my Document class that compares two card objects as parameters and traces out which one would win in a fight (aka War).
For the music player that I've designed and am making come to life in actionscript 2.0, I'd like to have a custom made image be shown for the entirety of the song that it corresponds to. I've already made the images for each of the three songs, but now I just need to figure out how to make them show inside the player every time it's matching song plays. I should add, that I've made a default image for the player as well, that I'd like to be shown, whenever a song is not playing.
Additionally, there is a "Play All Songs" button that is already operational on the player and plays 3 songs in succession. How would I go about adding the 3 images to be shown consecutively, as each song plays? The way the button is set up, I joined all 3 of the songs together with a 3 second space in between, as a single music file. So the button contains only one file that plays all 3 songs, not a separate one for each of the them.
I've been using a custom base class with an id property that is automatically assigned by a manager class when an instance is created. I use this value in multiple ways and require it to differentiate each instance.
I want to remove the need for my own base class but still have a way to tell instances throughout my application apart.
Is there a property set on all objects in ActionScript 3 that can act as a unique identifier?
Goal: Now, I want to be able to drag and drop this character movieclip around the stage as I please, leaving him wherever I want, with all of his movements still going on AND the mouseover movements as well.Logic: Since, when the mouse is over this character, I need the drag option area to be a little x or any object close to him, so it doesnt interfere with the movieclips mouse over effects. (could simply be a little rectangle saying: drag me)Problem: Iave no idea how to do this... I am only now starting with this Actionscript world!
