The website is going to have two pictures of two guys that I made into a "button". Now, when you hover mouse on picture/button 1, it plays a small clip inline. Basically the clip is going to be text balloons as if guy 1 was talking. And do basically the same thing with guy 2 but with different text balloons.

Drag and drop game. I'd like the instance to tint red when rolled over after it's been successfully dropped. I'd also like to play a sound file when clicked after successful drop. Here's the code:

rollover play anim issue I am having? this is what I am trying to do:
1. a button that when rolled over animates(working)
2. the button when clicked should play another 'animation' that is placed on the scene(can't get to work)
3.Inside the 'animation' the button plays, there is a 'close' button that should playout the 'anmation' timeline.(not working)not sure what script to attached to the 'close' button .
I'm trying to get a flash menu up for my website but I can't seem to figure out if.else statements to work for me.
Here's the problem. I want the menu to play a video when you rollover a button. After you click the button I want that video to keep playing. If you just roll off of the button without clicking I want it to play a different video.
I am new to flash and peretty much lost when it comes to actionscripting. I am trying to use a movie clip as a rollover button. I have it working, but when the mouse goes over the rollover graphic, the graphic starts to flicker and I have no idea why. Can someone take a look at what I have and let me know what I did wrong. View 1 RepliesI'm creating a website by splitting up the main timeline into the different pages of the site. I'm trying to make a dropdown menu on the 3rd frame. On a layer called buttons I have a button with the instance name patientnumberbtn. I want that when you roll over this button is tells the menu to drop. The movie clip for the menu is nested on its own layer of the main timeline. I would like to play this nested timeline, (the drop down menu has masks and other animations that are moving around). This movieclip that everything is nested in has an instance name of patientnumbermenu. Here is what I am using for code.

When I run it there is an output error #1009 but it still lets me proceed. When I roll over patientnumberbtn, nothing happens. Within the patientnumbermenu I have stop commands to prevent it from playing when we first reach frame 3 of the main timeline. I've removed these commands and the patientnumbermenu will play even though the commands used to get to frame 3 is a gotoAndStop(); command.
I'm not sure if this is being done through AS 2 or 3, or without code altogether. But, can anyone tell me how to create the rollover effect seen on this site (left hand side menu)?:[URL] I'm working in AS2, as I am not very familiar with AS3. I was thinking the effect might be created with a mask or some kind, but really not sure.

I am new to actionscripts and I'm having some difficulty. I am creating a website that teaches kids about the about the brain and I am creating a website very familiar to this one, http:[url].......
So far I know how to draw and call a simple movie clip such as what you see below. What I am trying to do is create the features that you see on the above website.I'll try to explain as best as possible what I have done so far:I created one flash file and drew the background for where the text will display. Next I created several movie clips for each of the brain parts and I placed an invisible button over each of these movies.For example I told the button,"cerebellum_button" to play the movie "cerebellum_mc" and told it to go to the"turnon" label."Once it stopped at the label "turnoff" it displayed the text to explain what the cerebellum does.
I feel that my code is redundant because I�m having to create a button for each animated movie clip and in each on of the movie clips I have text that will display. It seems to me that I can somehow create text for all of the movie clips in one centralized location and call each one of those text by using labels. Is there a way that I can centralize all of the text then call it? My aim is to have the user roll over the brain part, have it animate, and have it display the text to explain what that brain part does.I have one invisable

I'm currently working on a flashsite and are trying to figure out rollover menu buttons. The site has 6 menu buttons and are placed next to each other. I want to put a rollover action on the buttons, that when you rollover a button that the whole button image enlarges and moves in front of the other.

So far I think I have the AS3 to handle the rollover of the top button, but I don't know how to trigger the other button's rollover state.

On looking into buttons, I understand that to get a movie clip to play when a button is clicked you simply place the movie clip on the buttons 'hit' state. Having done this it does not work? Have I read wrong? Also the movie clip has a background the full size of the stage area. So when I attach this to the button, the button changes size to the same size as the movie? (i.e. whole stage area). How do I keep the button in it's original size while still playing the movie clip with large background?

2) if it is less than the 16th frame reverse the movie clip and play until it gets to a certain frame

I made a vertical list of thumbnails and converted them into a movie clip. There is a total of 20 thumbnails. I masked the movie clips so that it only shows 5 thumbnails at a time. I created keyframes at every point in the clip that 5 thumbnails are shown so that I can pause it.I was trying to use this code to scroll down from the first set of 5 to the second:

When I click the button nothing happens I'd also like to know how to rewind the movie so that when I press the up arrow it goes up to the previous set of 5.

I simply want to have a movie (box1) to play when a button (btn1) is clicked.

View 1 RepliesI am using flash. I have a layer containing my movie clip animation. Another layer contains my 2 buttons and a 3rd layer contains my action script. Here is what I have managed to do- I got the stop and play buttons to work so when the movie plays I can click play and then click stop and the animation will stop and play as I ask. I added a stop(); command at the beginning of my script so that when the movie loads nothing plays until I click play. The problem is I would like to click play and allow the movie to continually play over and over even when it finishes. However I would like to keep the movie with my stop(); command so when it loads nothing plays until I ask it to.
what I can do so that when I click play my animated movie clip continues to loop again and again.

I've made the outline of a site in AS3, on one of the pages it has an area that shows some text and images. If you click on the right arrow, the current info flys off to the left and the new info comes on from the right. This is done by just having a movie clip with a load of stops and code that says "absorbentInfo.play();" so it plays forward to the next bit of info.What I would like is a way to make it play backwards to the previous stop, so that it could cycle indefinitely either way.Code for the next button below.with the previous button.

I was wondering what the best way is to play a movie clip while dragging a button inside a separate movie clip. Example: I'm creating a children's book in Flash form. Some childrens' books have movement using a pull tab on the side of the page. I have created two things for one of these pages:
A) The pull tab movie clip consisting of a button inside of it. Its code is as follows:

This way (and it works), the pull tab cannot be dragged along the y axis, and its movement along the x axis is restricted.
B) A movie clip with a symbol in it that has a motion tween, 75 frames, a stop action and key frame on each of the 75 frames.
