Drag and drop game. I'd like the instance to tint red when rolled over after it's been successfully dropped. I'd also like to play a sound file when clicked after successful drop. Here's the code:

how you can change the colour / tint of a movie clip via code, and essentially via a RGB value specified in an external xml file.

The bits highlighted in red bold above is the section where I've got stuck.. I have tried code: var bgdcolour:uint = Countdown.@bgdcolour; , but no luck and all I get is '16777215' in the output panel..
I am trying to build a custom button component in flash 8... I am setting it up so you can change certain color values with the component inspector.I want to know how to change the tint of a movie clip inside the component...I searched all over the place, maybe I'm not looking right.I found out how to change the color in a text field but I am still stumped on how to change a movie clips tint.

I could do that with a simple rollover this. but that changes the colour in one sudden stroke while what I'm looking for is a gradual pass from tint A to tint B. As an example, If button A is yellow and button B is blue, it should show the pass from green as I switch from button to button.

View 2 RepliesOn looking into buttons, I understand that to get a movie clip to play when a button is clicked you simply place the movie clip on the buttons 'hit' state. Having done this it does not work? Have I read wrong? Also the movie clip has a background the full size of the stage area. So when I attach this to the button, the button changes size to the same size as the movie? (i.e. whole stage area). How do I keep the button in it's original size while still playing the movie clip with large background?

I want to play a movie clip when I click a button.I made 3 states: inicial (how it looks before anything happens) (up)hover (plays an animation after waiting 20 frames) (over)click (plays an animation right away) (down)I placed these movie clips inside of my button's up, over, and down frames. This works great except when I click, i'll need to click and hold for my animation to get past the first frame.

View 7 RepliesI'm a flash beginner and I've been having alot of trouble figuring out how to make a button which can be controlled with the keyboard as well as the mouse and plays a sound when clicked but when the button is released the sound instantly stops. What I'm going for is a piano application, I made the button, I know how to create keyboard events with listeners and make the different button states up and down but I don't know how to control the button with the keyboard and play sound when the button is clicked but stop the sound when the button is released.
Also I'd like to have it where the space bar will cancel whatever makes the sound stop so it just rings out until the sound clip ends. Can someone explain to me how to do this, remember I'm a beginner so please explain everything.

I created a movie clip that I am using as a button. I created the states in the clip (up, down, over) and the graphics work, but the sound is driving me crazy. I have a rollover loop that plays and a special click sound on the down/press. On the mouseclick, I want the rollover loop to stop and the down/click sound to play. Also, a getURL is happening on the release. Basically, everything works, except you can't hear the down/click sound. All sound just stops on the click.THis is AS2. Here's my code on the first frame. In the clip/button itself, I have the states labeled, the sounds placed using the properties and a stop on each keyframe of each state.:

i this code when i rollOver the mouse on a movie clip, it shows the alpha reducing over time , and at roll out alpha increases over time. but if i rollOver and rollOut in fractions of seconds , it flickers (like 60-100 instead of from the current alpha lvl), So i am looking for some code that can help me in fixing this problem.
