View 5 RepliesI want to add a child to a movieclip that I am scaling. However, I would like to prevent that child from scaling when the parent scales.
View 7 RepliesI have a movieclip which contains nested movieclip( i mean i contains other movieclip inside it) and the outter moviclip will scale when the stage resizes and fit in the window wich is all right but the nested movieclip should not scale ( i mean i dont want to scale the inner movie clip) how can i do that in action script 3.0.
View 4 RepliesI have a project which has a background which is a swf that is scalable with the browser.However I do not want anything in the parent SWF to scale and want to position it in the top left of the browser regardless of size. how to do this in AS3 Currently it seems that the parent SWF is scaling everything as a result of a child swf on the stage.
View 7 RepliesMy class is extending Sprite and inside i have overwritten width, height, scaleX and scaleY setters and forbidden scaling if scalable property is set to false. When i test this (put it on the stage and try scaling using these methods) it works fine. However if I add it as a child of some other DisplayObjectContainer and scale it my object is scaled too. Are there other public scaling methods that I could overwrite and that I am unaware of? If not, how could I achieve this effect without overwriting it's parent container's scaling methods?
View 9 RepliesHow can I make sure my textfield doesn't scale along with it's parent movieclip?This textfield is created dynamically inside of a randomly scaled mc. I want to prevent the child txtfield from scaling along with it's parent.
View 3 RepliesI've created a piece that uses various custom cursors depending on what "tool" the user is using (like in the Flash or Photoshop UI). is there was a way to disable the scaling of these custom movieClips in case the user decides to view the piece in fullscreen? I would like the cursors to remain the same size as the system cursor, regardless of how big the asset is.
View 1 RepliesI want to animate a person moving off into the distance, but while I want the size of the figure to get smaller, I don't want the weight of the lines that comprise the image to scale down, too. I made this little sample of a person skating (poorly) away from the viewer, and I'd like the line weight to be 9 points in the first frame and the last frame. Is there a setting that allows me to exclude stroke weight when scaling and resizing an object?
View 1 Repliesin flash AS1,2 you just input this code Stage.scaleMode="noScale";
on a frame of the main stage to prevent scaling of movieclips on fullscreen.I tried the same thing in AS3 and its not working for me. so my question is how would i apply this in AS3?
I have finished my flash game, but when I used web Browser such as Chrome or FireFox to run it, it enlarged my game to full size of the browser. Is there anyway( in AS3 script) that I could prevent this from happening as well as hide the symbols that their sizes are bigger than my default size defined at the document property panel?
View 1 RepliesI'm building some navigation that extends all the way from left to right across my SWF. When the window resizes, I'd like the nav buttons to get wider but not have the text on the buttons get wider.
The buttons themselves are rectangles with a vertical gradient and a stroke around the outside. I'm using 9-slice scaling so the stroke doesn't scale, but the middle (gradient) gets wider or narrower.What'd be great is to be able to select an object or layer and say "don't scale, even if the rest of this movie clip scales". Is there a way to do that, or will I have to do it via actionscript?
I have made a top 10 module for my site that loads variables dynamicly in text fields, it works pretty fine, but i have a problem. The text inside the text fields is scaling on move.I don't want the text inside to scale.Here you have the link:xample of text field creation in my as:
Code:
private function createTextField(x:Number, y:Number, width:Number, height:Number):TextField {
[code]........
Below is code that populates a menu. Everything seems to work great, with no errors thrown, except for one crucial part. My megaPages array has the values ["HOME","BABIES","BRIDALS","MISC","WEDDINGS","ABOUT"], but the actual text that displays on screen (which is produced by megaPages) is like this:
As you can see, some of the text is arbitrarily being truncated. I've traced the text strings as they get passed through the various functions at various stages of the menu-build, and they are always right, but somehow when each DisplayObject make it on screen, letters get ommitted (notice though that 'HOME' abd 'ABOUT' are fine). I don't even know where to start with this problem.

Is there a way I can prevent users from delete a text or a character? Say I want the textfield to always show the "$" in front of the number they enter. I was successfully able to do it when they click backspace or delete and then started typing any alphabets. BUT no luck when they highlight the entire textfield and typed the number. The "$" will get deleted, which I don't want that.
View 2 RepliesI've search through all the threads with "scaling" and "resizing" and can't find the solution.
Basically I have a GUI element on a gallery that I don't want to scale, while the rest of the page is free to resize/scale.
I think I need to add a listener of some sort to the stage, but I'm not sure how to do this.
I use a rather big font size and the bottom of some characters is truncated ("g" for example, or any character going under the baseline):
I first thought it was a problem with the component height, but even with a very large height the characters got truncated, with big empty spaces above and under the text. I looked for a solution on the net but did not find one. Worst: I was not able to find references to my problem though it seems to be an important one. Is there a CSS property to prevent this behavior or do I have to look elsewhere?
edit: I use Flex 3 and Halo/MX components
I am currently using flash CS5. I have the task of moving text constantly in an animation from left to right..with the text growing at the same time from 12pt to 36pt. As of yet i have looked across many tutorials only showing me on the movement of text I would be great full to anyone who can help me with this text scaling issue
View 2 RepliesIt seems 9-slice scaling in Flash CS5 is a little half-baked. If you create a symbol containing text and vector graphics, only the vector graphics is scaled according to the 9-slice scaling contract. For example, consider the following symbol:
Sure, the vector graphics are scaled according to the 9-slice contract, but what are we supposed to do about text? And just in case you're thinking "convert the text to vectors/raster"... unfortunately no... I don't have the option of converting the text to a set of vectors or a raster because its content will have to be dynamic.
Actually I have a conversation bubble design and dynamic html text inside in a text box. How to scale both the bubble and the text box simultaneously.using scripting.
View 2 RepliesI have a multilingual project (currently 13 languages), which uses many different font variations of "Helvetica Neue", mostly bold, condensed and regular cuts from the LinoType Pro font set ( which includes western european characters) and the same for cyrillic. We will probably add chinese and japanese variations in the future. I have set up the project to use different CSS stylesheets and separately load the fonts for each version, depending on which language the user selects, so I can have different line heights, kerning and/or font sizes to make everything keep the original look, even if the fonts look nothing alike.
All of this works well, except for one problem: For some reason, all cyrillic letters seem to be displaced. They appear 2-3 pixels below the correct base line, and actually protrude across the textfield's bottom border, even when the field is set to autosize. When I use textfield.getCharBoundaries(), all values seem to be correct, even though they obviously aren't rendered correctly.To make everything look neat, I could of course manually move all problematic textfields up or down according to language and font size, but I was wondering if there was some way to prevent or at least detect this kind of displacement in order to automatically handle the adjustments - the Flash Player should have some sort of information on how things are rendered, shouldn't i
created a new textfield(digitC) I want to use again and again. First time thru, I applied an animation to the text object that scaled it down to half size. the next time I use the textfield I want to reset it to its original size.
I tried resetting the textFormat to the original font size and reapply to format to digitC. But digitC retains the half size font. How do I reset digitC to original size?
I'm working on a project that dynamically loads news articles.There is basically a title text box and a news box, both are the same width.I would like to know if there is a way that I can get the dynamic title to scale up/down in font size to fit the width (and also shift the news text down to be about 3px under the title)
View 1 RepliesProblem: the text inside my movieclip gets distorted when the movie clip is scaled.
Code:
import caurina.transitions.Tweener;
//variables for justMePage
import flash.events.Event;
[code]....
how do i make the text still look good even if the movie clip that it belongs to is scaled?
I have an isometric board. On some of these tiles there are textfields which are skewed so that the text runs parallel to the sides of the tiles. The user can zoom out giving a wider view of the board. This is done by scaling the parent tile to about 0.5 of the original size. When doing this at a certain threshold the text will no longer be parallel to the sides of the tile and will look as if the text pop's up. Does anyone have any ideas of what causes this.
View 2 RepliesWithin FlashBuilder/Eclipse, when you select a word, such as "protected" or a variable, every instance of that word is also highlighted.How do I change the background color of the selected instances of that word or disable the feature altogether?I have already changed the "selected text background color", the instance background color seems to be controlled separately.
View 2 RepliesSo when I scale text in a tween, it doesn't look at all smooth. I tried to compensate by increasing the frame rate, but even 60fps doesn't fix it. So I'm pretty sure that the scaling is limted to pixels. I immagine I can fix this by converting the text to vector art, so it will scale at less-than-pixel intervals.
Is this a correct solution? If so, how do I do this?
I've searched around a bit but have not found anything that sounds like my issue, or a resolution to it so am hoping this is not unique.I have a movieclip with an image and underneath it some text.I have created a pair of eventlisteners to change the scale of the MovieClip on ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OUT, to 1.3 and 1 respectively.If I hover over and out the image part of the MC this is fine and works as expected.However if I hover over the text, the animation gets stuck doing ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OUT.
View 1 Repliesi have a diagonal movieclip that I am trying to scale along with the background video. The background video scales perfect, I am attaching the diagonal movieclip (br in the code as bottomright) with addChild
Instead of scaling with the window, it seems to repeat such as the image is displaying. this is the main section of the code that is doing the scaling
var br:mc_bottomright = new mc_bottomright();
addChild(br);
//proportional scale
if ((stage.stageWidth / stage.stageHeight)> (owidth/oheight))

I am trying to achieve an effect of scaling a movie clip on click...very similar to [URL] When the user clicks on See, Hear, Play and Shop boxes, the boxes expand. I have created a box movieclip that has a bar on top. This bar is a movie clip inside the box movieclip. When i try to scale the main box movieclip, the internal bar movie clip scales as well. How to stop this?
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to manipulate a font's horizontal scaling if it is set as dynamic text?
The text was horizontally scaled in Adobe Illustrator to create a more "sleek" look, but now when putting together the movie in Flash I would still like to keep this look but need dynamic text.
Im asking this in AS 3.0 category, but would like to know it for AS 2.0 as well if there is a way.
