View 16 RepliesI want to apply actions to a movieClip nested inside a dynamicly attached movieClip, with the attachMovie method; it doesn't works when the movieClip is attached by a button:
1.when the swf movie loads with an attachMovie method the remove_btn clears the window_mc

I need to remove the Stage Event Listener (stage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, thumbUp)) when I switch menu items. How can I call the removeEventListener for the stage from outside the movieclip?
The parent movieclip is called about_mc and when you click away to another page it tweens out. I really just want to about_mc.stage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, thumbUp).
I've been trying to remove a movieclip which is nested within another movie clip.

(oh, I tryed **_root.barobjects.smallblue.removeMovieClip();** also)
is there any reason why this shouldn't work?
I have a movieclip added to the stage through a function.

I have some other movieclips INSIDE this clip that have also been dynamically added. If I want to reference one of those clips I have to reference them by name using getChildByName.

But is there a better way to reference movieclips if they are created inside a function, or is there a way to create them so they are always globally accessible?

I have a movieclip, which attaches to another movieclip, which scrolls.On click I want to be able to drag that movieclip away from the one it was attached to. When I just removeChild it, it's position changes. I want it to stay in the same spot until it's dragged.Any suggestion, on how I can give it that same position, when not attached?

How come the movieClip within the classed MovieClip seems out of scope? and How can I access that movieClip (preferably relative from the classed MovieClip and not from the stage).
I have a Debug class I've written, and I'd like to include a static trace() method in there, unfortunately I have no idea how to then access global / top level trace as effectively I've blocked it with the local static scope.[code]

I figured out that the images are actually loading on top of one another and since my images aren't all the same size you can see the one behind it. I am guessing I could use a currentImage variable to then tween out but

I'm trying pause a video netstream within a MovieClip with a button (ppBtn). This works when I hardcode the movieclip path (like: etc. media2.ns.togglePause() ), but when I use a string in the path to access the MC's netstream it doesn't work. I've tried serveral ways to cast the string to a movieclip.name but I always trace a "null" or "undefined" of the mcpathI've tried to cast the string as a MC in different ways without any luck:

I'm not an experienced Actionscript user so I'm not sure what the normal way to associate a custom class with a movieclip that has been designed in the Flash IDE is. I made a class called Window to control a movieclip called TestWindow. There are some buttons in the movieclip whose
functionality I would like to assign the instance of class Window. How is this supposed to be done? Here's a representation of what I mean. I hope it is sort of clear. My actual problem is that the local variables are outside the scope of the onPress function but I also think there must be some other way of associating classes with movieclips that have been designed in the IDE.
If I have 5 frames and each contanins a MovieClip on stage that includes it's class, listeners, functions etc.If I go from one frame to another,should I clean everything up? I mean remove listeners, remove childs etc etc.Or other MovieClips except those in the current frame are ignored from flash player.

It al works wel only when i pick the first coin of one euro without going over the coin of 2 euro and then pick up a 2 euro coin the one euro disappears. after then it all works fine.i cant remove my duplicate euro's from the stage when i clic on pay here is my code for the euro's the euro's are in a emty movieclip

i am using a movieclip who has two nested movieclips, the problem i am dealing is that when i try to get the width or height of the parent movieclip it always showing the values of the small nested movieclip, when i draw the movieclip it draw perfect but when i read this values shows that error, what can i do?

I have 3 frames each with a movie clip called map_mc. Each different map_mc have different objects that call the CollisionDetect class. Heres whats happening. objects from frame 1 will start freaking out when I goto frame 2. How do I remove only the event listeners from objects only on frame 1?
I have been trying this.currentFrame but the problem is that all the objects are inside map_mc on the first frame so no matter what it will always be 1. On the other hand MovieClip(root).currentFrame will always give me the current frame but wont tell me what the objects frame is relative to the stage.What I want to do is have something to this effect:MovieClip(root).this.currentFrame would output that this object is on frame 1 and MovieClip(root).currentFrame will tell me that the stage is on frame 2 so I can remove the listeners accordingly.
how can I get the current frame of a MovieClip.It's an animation that just loops over and over when its opened with ctrl+enter.On the stage its just one layer and one frame, but when it's double clicked, it has its own timeline with 20 frames.

I'm setting up a project that has a list of 45 words. The user should be able to drag the words into an area on the stage, as many as they want, but unable to proceed until they have only 5 words in the selected area. I started off by making each word a movieclip and making them draggable, but wondered if there was a way to simplify the code rather than putting it on all 45 movieclips, if there was a way to have it know which one i'm currently dragging.
Then I was unsure how to keep track of how many were in the area. If i have a count that gets increased for each hittest, it goes up and up, but you can continually redrag the same word on which is wrong. But the user needs to be able to drag words out, so I can't disable them when they hit.

Is there a way to get he current frame of a movie clip that is playing? For example I have myClip which is a MovieClip, and the code is myClip.stop(); Is there a way to know which frame myClip stopped on? Such as frame 5 or 10 or so?

What i am trying to create is something similar to banner on [URL]
The addition to this is that products will be scrolling right to left automatically if there is no interaction from user, and product at the center will remain highlighted.
I have created a long strip of Products cover with a mask, the long strip keeps moving to give a scrolling effect.
I have two movieclips nested inside of a movieclip.I placed code on one of the internal movieclips to have its x position increase upon each frame tick, and when it surpasses or equals the x of the other internal movieclip, I need it to turn around and go the opposite way.If it were as simple as this, I could have just done:

View 2 RepliesI have a character that I want to animate. Now each part of his body is a separate movieclip. What I want is that, for example, if you imagine the shoe MovieClip, I want to give it three frames - from the front, from the side, and bent.
So when I animate the character MovieClip, I would like it if I could keyframe the currentframe of the shoe MoveiClip, if that makes any sense. It's easy enough to do in ActionScript, but the problem with that is the change isn't visible until I test the movie, and when animating it's useful to see exactly what the character looks like at each frame. Is there any way of setting the current frame of child MovieClips when animating?
There is something I have been trying to figure out how to do, I keep running into needing a simpler bit of code to hide all the movieclips except the one that was just made visible. My only idea so far is to manually input all the movieclip names and tell them whether or not to be visible. It works, but it creates a lot of code and is time consumming to change. I hope there is a way to use just one or two lines of code and hide all but the currently selected movieclips.

My goal is to allow the user to freely navigate the desktop and explore at their leisure, however, for the user who's a little more impatient I want to offer an option allowing them to click a button on the bottom menu and have the desktop slide directly from the movieclip's current XY coordinates (whatever they are at the time), to a designated XY, and center on that specific section, easing into place.
I've got placeholder buttons, and placeholders for the desired targets, but I can't wrap my mind around the code needed to do it, nor have I found any examples that use the same technique with AS3.
