ActionScript 3.0 :: Hide All But Current Movieclip Object

Jul 27, 2009

There is something I have been trying to figure out how to do, I keep running into needing a simpler bit of code to hide all the movieclips except the one that was just made visible. My only idea so far is to manually input all the movieclip names and tell them whether or not to be visible. It works, but it creates a lot of code and is time consumming to change. I hope there is a way to use just one or two lines of code and hide all but the currently selected movieclips.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Can't Permanently Hide Object

I'm working on a project that has multiple 'scenes' located on each frame. In one scene, if you click on an object it disappears. I did this using the visible = false method. However, anytime you return the scene after, the object is visible again. How would I write the code so that it stays invisible permanently when you click it, regardless of whether or not you leave and later return to the scene?

Flash :: Html - Unable To Hide A SWF Object Embedded In An Iframe?

Apr 12, 2012

On my HTML page, I have <div> with an <iframe>, which references another page, that contains a Flash SWF object. If I set any of these:

display:none;
visibility:hidden;
opacity:0;
filter:alpha(opacity=0);

on the <div> that wraps the <iframe>, the SWF object sometimes remains in plain sight, while the <div>and <iframe> go out of view as expected.

[Code]...

This should work in the latest versions of Safari, Chrome and Firefox on a Mac and in the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer on a Windows 7 machine, and it should fail (no errors but the hiding behavior doesn't occur) in Safari on a Windows 7 machine.

It might be pertinent to note that one thing I've noticed about the SWF objects that have passed and failed are that the ones that have failed all revolve around video content whereas the ones that have passed don't. Granted I haven't tested more than a half-dozen objects, but that's quite a coincidence. :)

ActionScript 1/2 :: Move Object From Current Postition?

Jun 22, 2010

I'm looking to see how to move an object from it's current position to a designated _x coordinate.  I want current position to be a variable that has it track where it is currently located and travel automatically without having to say move from 24.7 to 35.8, for example. I'm usuing the basic mx tweener classes and would like to keep it that way.  Basically I'm creating a nav where a dot flies to the nav selection. So end result is I want code that says travel to this _x coordinate from wherever you currently are.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [mx] Storing The Current Position Of An Object

Sep 4, 2003

I've always wondered if there was a way to retrieve and store the current position of an object. i am trying to develop a background slideshow using penners equations. but i get into trouble because you have to define the start position. so let's say you click button 1, and the object moves from x =0 to x = 200. Now when i press button 2, i want the object to move from x = 200 to x = 400. and if i then press button 4, i want it to move from x=200 to x=800 and so on. So i need to go from the current position to any of the new positions. i could do this simply using the normal inertia code.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Get Current Velocity Of Tweening Object?

Nov 22, 2010

We got an object tweening from point A to point B, and we can learn a few things from it using the onUpdate function.The program can be constantly storing it's actual x/y position and compare it to the previous position, versus time elapsed.I've seen several approaches but none seemed very impressive.Also, perhaps there is an engine (or more) that can return the object's current speed via the unUpdate function.How would YOU retrieve the object's current speed/velocity (pixels per second or millisecond) during a tween ?

FLV Component - Actions To Hide MovieClip

Jan 27, 2010

I will have to explain this in steps. I have a flash website, inside it I have the content on frame 2 (frame 1 = preloader) from there I have a content_mc which holds my pages. I have a home page (frame labeled home) which inside displays the home_mc. In here I have inserted a flvPlayback component. Here's where the problem is. I have moved a stop and volume component on it as wel which has automatically linked up (which is nice). But I would like when I click the stop button, the video disappears. The videoPlayback is called "introVid", the instance name is "vid", and is residing within the "home" mc.

I know the code is something like:
this.visible = false;
or
movieclip(root).home.vid/introVid.visible = false;
or I have also seen people using visibility = false...

However I cannot find out how to link this with the flvPlayback Stop button component. Inside the button all I can find is: The 4 button states,
some code on stop button itself:
stop();
this.upLinkageID="StopButtonNormal";
this.overLinkageID="StopButtonOver";
this.downLinkageID="StopButtonDown";
this.disabledLinkageID="StopButtonDisabled";

I require to put my actionscript on the press or release, but I cannot find out to do this, I assume the code at the moment is calling a "flash component class" which holds the actions for "stopButtonDown" or something, I did have a go at manually creating a mc and a button, and making that stop the flvPlayback, and hiding the movieClip, but with no luck.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Hide Intersecting Region Of MovieClip

Oct 27, 2011

So I've been working on a Character class for platformer/ generic side-view style games. The problem is that i might need bits of characters to appear to go through other characters (i.e. char 1 grabs char 2 and runs char 2 through with weapon) the problem with this is that the characters' parts are contained in movieclips to run code on them holding them together and keeping me from having to position them just perfectly every frame in the IDE. it seems I have four choices:

1) Completely reprogram the display list -not practical

2) just hide the area of the movieclip that is intersecting with the other character

3) break apart the characters and merge them into an "interaction manager" movieclip

4) just give up.

I don't have the skills for option 1. Option 3 is ok i guess, but i'd rather try option 2 first. My biggest problem is that i have no idea how i would go about selecting just the intersecting part of the movieclip without reprogramming some part of the display list. If anyone can understand this, please give me something to point me in a direction.

May 16, 2011

how can I get the current frame of a MovieClip.It's an animation that just loops over and over when its opened with ctrl+enter.On the stage its just one layer and one frame, but when it's double clicked, it has its own timeline with 20 frames.

Actionscript Code:
//what i had but it shows frame 1trace(myMovieClipInstance.currentFrame);

display the current frame when it changes. So something with a while loop. Like while the movie clip is playing, display the current frame.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Parameters - Show One MovieClip And Hide Another

Nov 8, 2011

I am new to flash parameters but from the research I could find so far it seems that this should be fairly simple. I have a flash file that has a movie clip in it. In this movie clip there are two movie clips. What I need to do is show a one movie clip and hide another. I basically only need to set up the reading of the flash parameter code in flash...
var imageToShow:String;
var paramObj:Object = LoaderInfo(this.root.loaderInfo).parameters;

This is basically what I have... I'm not sure what to go on to next or if this is even correct.
Code:
if (parameter == "image1") {
image.image1.alpha = 1;
image.image2.alpha = 0;
}
