ActionScript 3.0 :: Saving A Game Map To A Single String

I'm attempting to make a flat text file made up of game map information. I have an array of objects that I'm extracting the properties from and converting to a multidimensional array (an array of arrays). then finally imploding or joining into a single string separated by 2 glue strings.[code]The problem with the above code: The above code works but only for 3 objects or less. In order to add a forth I would need to change mapTextArray var to equal which I'm unsure how to do pragmatically and it seems there should be an entirely easier solution.[code]
I'm a newbie...it will be obvious I'm sure. This is what I'm doing.... 01. I take a PowerPoint slide show and convert it to an. emf (MetaData) PowerPoint show in power point. ( an aside...I have used enhance MetaData and regular MetaData and haven't noticed any difference. No biggie I guess)
02. I then load the Flash CS4 stage with the .emf PowerPoint slide show.
03. Do some clean-up.
04 I then must save individual .swf files of the timeline. ( I notice there doesn't seem to be a key board stroke for Export Image... that seems weird)
05. I do all the mouse clicks and save the .swf's in a folder. For 80 or more slide per show this is very tedious I must say. Clicking, numbering, saving, advanceing, clicking, numbering saving...etc. I typically end up with a folder with ...Slide_01, Slide_02, Slide_03 etc. which is what I want.
What is the best way to automate this process? I'm not a programmer, but is a Macro program what I need. Or is there a way in Flash to simplify this process ..of course I'm not a programmer.
Is it possible, via Adobe Air, to save multiple types of data in a single file? For example, an application would allow the user to load in external images, position them on stage and label them. This data would be then be stored in a ByteArray (I guess) using BitmapData for the images and probably XML for the metadata.
I would then like to write this to a single file, with a bespoke file extension that could be associated with said Air app.
I am working on an educational game that requires the user to enter their username and password in order to retrieve their saved game data. I know how to do this locally using the sharedObject class but I do not really understand how to do this remotely on the server. I thought maybe using remote shared objects would work but it looks to me like that only works with a flash server and data can be changed by anyone.
I'm writing a game to be run locally, on the user's computer. NOT over the internet. I want to have a file that will hold the usernames and avatar indices (they're in an array). I want to know if there's a way to write to files through Flash with AS3. I'm using CS4. I'd also like to know if you can delete files through Flash, though that's just optional.
At the end of my game I display the users name as a string and score as a variable, would there be any way to send these two pieces of info outbound to display in an html file?
I've found some things on XML files but I'm not too sure what thats all about.
My ultimate goal is to have each users name and score sent to a file which sorts them, highest score at the top. Then each time the page is refreshed the new scores would appear in the right order.
I have a drag and drop game where each movie clip is a word that the player has to arrange on screen in a certain order of importance - there is no snapping mechanism and the user can place the words anywhere desired.
Later in the game, I need this list of words to appear in the order that the player previously organized within a different scene.

Given the following example SWF: Sample Notice how with the words "enthusiast" at the end of the first line and "write" at the end of the second line, that they start to type out on the first line but after a few letters they are bumped.
I understand this is the correct behavior, but is there a way for "enthusiast" to begin being typed on the second line, and "write" on the third line instead of being bumped during the typing?
Currently I am thinking of doing a search ahead mechanism, so it finds the next word in whole, then makes that the active word to print, temporarily print it, see if it increases the numlines, and if it does insert a line break and continue writing. But it seems fiddly.
[URL]I have made the string and its movement is also done the problem i am facing is is to fix the position of the mouse on enterframe. As, you can see in the game(link given above), the level starts when the mouse touches the start button in the game. How can i implement that?
I have here a bubble popping game where bubbles fall from top of the game to the bottom and the player tries to pop as many bubbles as possible in 30 seconds. It is a 3 frame game, 1st frame is the start button, 2nd frame is the game, 3rd frame is the score and play again. 1st frame: Buttons to go to the second frame 2nd Frame: timer to count 30 seconds of play time 3rd frame: buttons to play again. ScoreValue is a dynamic textbox in the last frame of the game. It records the points based on size the size scale of the bubble, and should be change based on the amount of bubbles the player has popped.

Im getting this as output in my program, does any one know why? Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts" setting. Use the Text > Font Embedding command to embed fonts.
I am going to develop a very simple game for android and for iphone/ipad I have the option to develop it in cocos2d or in adobe flash air (i am not a developer, but i have 2 developers who are offering me the service)I have a developer that states that cocos2d is better and other one that states that adobe flash air.I want it in cross platform.the cost offered by both developers is the same..i have heard that adobe air has the flaw that it is very slow, is this real? if you had the 2 options which will you use to develop your game and why?
I'm making a game that populates user-designed cards into the game using an external xml file. My main class loads the xml file and then calls to the "Card" class, which wants to use the xml file. I've tried using this.parent and it just gives me a null object reference error. This is what I have so far: Main.as
currently i making this game and objects would spawn at random and be able to click but when de game starts itself, the spawn is correct but i am unable to make it stop when time goes to 0seconds.

im trying to create a tamagotchi game type game. For some reason i can not add any items to the stage.Currently i have imported 2 png images to the stage and coverted them to movie clips. I have assigned the above code as the BaseClass of the Beer symbol, this has allowed the beer to become draggable and droppable etc.when i run the program nothing happens, i just get a blank white screen.
It's about the "Game Character Dialogues", It is used to instruct the user what to do, like what you see in BookWorm or Diner DAsh.I used dynamic text fields to generate these dialogues,but as I continued doing it. I found myself stuck.I have no idea on how to change the words when the "next" button is clicked. there will be no previous button. but the dialogue will replay when the character is clicked.
Is there a way to get this code to work? It's meant to count the seconds passed while playing the game and gives a bonus multiplier to the current score when the game ends. I don't know how to get the returned value to combine it into the multiplier int variable. Is there any way to get this code to work or is it completely wrong?
We have a bug in one game whereby the sound of the word repeats. Even when we use stopAllSounds - the sound is still kept in memory and you can hear it in the next activity - it's a disaster and kids get real angry.
I am making a Shooting game in flash actionscript 3 and have some questions about the flow of logic and how to smartly use the OOPs concepts.There are mainly 3 classes:Main Class: Initializes the objects on the screen.Enemy Class: For moving the enemies around on the screen.Bullet Class: For shooting.What I want to do is find out if the Enemy has been hit by a bullet and do things which must be done as a result ...What I am doing right now is that I have a ENTER_FRAME event in which i check collision detection of each enemy unit (saved in an array) with the bullet instance created, and if it collides then perform all the necessary actions in the Main class .. clogging the Main class in the process
In Actionscript and Adobe Flex, I'm using a pattern and regexp (with the global flag) with the string.match method and it works how I'd like except when the match returns multiple occurrences of the same word in the text. In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is. I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched.
But I keep getting an "Error #2030: End of file was encountered." This is (probably) because the class I'm serializing is too big for the "String" object type in AS3. Is there a limitless object for storing an array of characters (or better yet binary), or am I going to have to make my own class? (like one with an array of strings)
