I'm looking for a tutorial on how to create a slider to control the frames/time of a embedded movie clip using as3. Essentially I'm looking to recreate a thing like on the YouTube video player, but it wont need to have anything to do with buffering, just a way of pausing/playing a movie clip from a particular frame or time position.
I created an ajax jQuery featured content slider that will automatically navigate through each tab. Each tab has some basic html. The one I used is this one: [URL]. For some reason, when I embed a flash video in it, the flash video overflows the div. It looks fine in Chrome and Safari but not the latest version of Firefox (3.6) on the PC. Is it not handling overflow or z-indexes correctly?
View 1 RepliesI have my flash document set up in the following way: On the main timeline I have my buttons that I want to play movie clips embedded inside a movie clip on the main timeline.However, when I click each different button, the current movie clip stops playing and then the movie clip corresponding to the button plays.
I want them all to be able to play at once. So for example you push button 1 and the alien plays, but half way through you could click button 2 and the alien clip would keep playing, but also the helicopter clip would begin to play as well.Here is the code I have so far:

View 6 RepliesWhat I have is a map that you can click on points and it will zoom in, you can also click on a "plus/minus" buttons to zoom in and out (I even have the mouse wheel zooming in and out). The client wanted me to add a "zoom slider bar" to it so you know you could move it up and down to scale it. Everything is working except the slider, I can't seem to get it to work with the position of the slider. All of the zoom functionality is there but the slider is killing me.
I am putting up the fla file since there is a lot of code in there and I didn't want to put it all in the forum. if you look in the fla in frame ten on line 726 you can find the function that is supposed to handle the zooming when you move the slider. Up on line 74 you can find the slider onPress and onRelease functions, but those I believe should be fine.

In the timeline are (i)More... buttons that will reveal more information. I just need to know how to integrate the timeline into the code using as2 to make it slide when the slider is dragged..

I really could just use a good tutorial that shows me how to link the image that im sliding to the slider bar. When the slider is moved to the right... the image flows left.... toward the end of the timeline. When the slider is all the way right. The end of the timeline is shown. The timeline is bigger than the stage so the slider is on a line with years on it.
I am trying to make a menu that has a "slider" arrow at the top that points to the current button that you clicked. Right now I just have it so that if you click a button it changes the x position of the arrow movie clip to go over a certain button. I would like to create the effect where it moves slower to the different buttons and then it "springs" back and forth over the button getting closer and closer until it finally stops.

I am trying to create a basic timeline, similar to the timeline we all use in flash (see attached).
I have a playhead slider, which when dragged, just drags within its startDrag() limits.
I also have horizontal window scroller which also when dragged, just drags within its startDrag() limits.
I am trying to work out how to get the horizontal window scroller to scroll when the playhead slider hits the left or right edge. I am using hittest for this collision.
I have the playHeadSlider scrolling along the top. When playHeadSlider collides with hittestThing I want mcContents to then move.
It kind of works.. mcContents moves when the playHeadSlider is in collision with the hittestThing.. but it just moves rather than 'drags' across. I have it set up so that mcContents is twice the width (approx) of mcScrollWindow.
I need to somehow update what I have so that if the playHeadSlider collides with hittestThing on the right, mcContents only moves to the right and if playHeadSlider collides with hittestThing2 on the left, mcContents only moves to the left.
I am trying to design a very basic flash game. The basis of which is that there is a slider at the bottom and objects fall from the top and you have to avoid them. However, if the object lands on the slider, it also has to become part of the slider and so the area of the slider increases. I am unsure of how to code this last bit as the properties of the slider must change.

p1 is the instance of the movie which I am trying to move with slider. When I apply above code on the handle of the slider with instance name 'handle' everything works perfect. Slider moves and so do the movie. Now instead when I bring the same code to the main timeline to do the same, onClipEvent does not work, it gives error. So I replaced it with the code written below. Now I can move the handle but movie is not moving.

When I load a .swf into a target movie that I have on my main page, it is all wrong, the slider menu that I have loading into the target movie, does not stay inside target and it seems to reposition the slider menu to the x psotion of my main movie How can I fix this, so the slider menu in the swf stays inside the target movie when loaded?

I am trying to create a slider that will move a series of images in a movie clip based on the location of the slider. The problem I have is that when you click and drag the scroller it will move the images once but after that the images will not move. I am guessing that the problem is with my code. I want to move the _x of the images movie clip based on the _x of the slider. Here is the code I am using which is placed in frame one of the "timelineSlider" MC:

I have seven loops in total. I imported them into the library. i've put each of them in a seperate movie clip with the names loop1,loop2,.In those movie clips, the first (key)frame contains the action stop(); . The second frame is a keyframe too and from here on the sound starts. And of course they loop.Okay, now the buttons to control the movie (Prev, Stop, Play, Next) work fine, but let me explain the system i used. I used a var loopnumber and everytime you click Next or Prev, it '+'es 1 or '-'es 1. I also set a variable number_to_play = "_root.loop"+loopnumber, so you would get _root.loop--number--, where --number-- is 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 7. To actually play the sound, i used tellTarget(number_to_play) {gotoAndPlay(2)}.That's why i added stop(); to the first frame of those clips.how can i make a volume slider for those sounds inside my movie clips ? I've checked this forum already for questions like this but they don't use the system I use.
View 4 RepliesI would like to know if there is a way to update the position of the thumb on the Slider component when a movie clip plays. Currently I have a movie clip symbol on my stage with the instance name ShapeMC. It has about 10 frames or animation and two actions. the first frame has a stop action as does the last frame. The actions are on their own layer, separate from the actual animation. I also have the slider component in my library, but it is only there so I can reference it through AS3. My AS3 instantiates a variable of type Slider. I then define the properties, like the width, hieght, thumb size, minimum, maximum, as well as enabling livedragging. I did this so the user can drag the slider and move through the Movie Clip symbol. I added a button that allows the user to click it and autoplay the Movie Clip symbol (ShapeMC). All that works. What I would like to do is when I hit the play button, I would like to see the thumb on the slider move along the slider as the Movie Clip symbol (ShapeMC) plays. So if the Movie Clip symbol reaches frame 5, the slider thumb show be seen as being half way through the tread. I tried putting the currentFrame into the .value property of the slider, but that didn't do anything. No errors, but it didn't move the thumb at all.

I want to on pressing a button on the Manu bar movie clip get the slider to slide across with easing. however I don't want the easing to be infinite so can't use a this._x*=.9 or some decimal < 1. Loop function only acts on the sinle fram so it too quick to see.

View 1 RepliesI'm looking to make a slider bar reveal movie clips on my stage as you drag it along. I've written some sloppy code that works, but isn't smooth by any means. I basically put MCs on different frames on the timeline, and I want those MCs to fade in or out relative to where the pointer is on the bar. This was a workaround, what I think I need is a boolean solution, but I'm not familiar enough with AS to write one from scratch. Here is the code I have so far. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a thumbnail scroller app built with AS3 on my website homepage. I have the class files but would like to know of any quick workaround to make the embedded Flash movie clickable without reworking the AS3 files. What I would like to do is if you click on a thmbnail or anywhere in the movie, the "portfolio" page loads. I asume this would use javascript?

i am trying to use an embed font in a movie. while editing, everything looks great but when i publish to swf, the text displays pixelized and rough, as no the anti-aliasing is not applied. any tips on how to correct this? i imported the font properly to my working library and set the linkage to "export to actionscript". I also noticed that when i do not import the font to library, the font displays just fine..

I am trying to embedded an flv into a flash movie timeline that runs at 12fps.My source avi is 60 seconds in duration. However using cs3 video encoder with the frame rate set to 12 fps results in an flv that uses up 1440 frames of my timeline.In fact any frame rate selected always results in an flv of this frame length? Assuming that I need the flv to be 720 frames total (60 seconds * 12 frames), and not twice that duration as that would still have to be played at 24 fps. I undertand that there is a relationship to the original fps the movie was shot in (in this case 24fps) but will/does the encoder not produce an flv with the frame rate altered to match my timeline fps? or do you basically have to use a camera that shoots the original avi at 12fpsto get it to play in 12 fps timeline??
