ActionScript 3.0 :: Symbols Not Showing Keyframed Position With GoTo

I am working on a simple spot-the-difference game, a pair of photos with hotspots the user taps on either photo to pick differences. It's a Flash CS5 project with a movie class, a class for the circles. It has worked fine with a single "level", but I am trying to add additional "levels" by adding a new keyframe in the timeline for each additional level. So I create a new keyframe and add the new pair of photos and reposition the symbols that are the circles to correspond with the new photos:

In my Movie Class, when level one is finished, I issue the AS: this.gotoAndStop(this.currentFrame+1);
The images change to the frame 2 images, but the circles are in the same position they were in for frame 1. The keyframed positions are ignored. I'd rather visually position each layer's circles in on the stage for simplicity's sake.

All my symbols disappeared. they're still there, and when i click into them to edit, i see everything, and also when i publish the movie i see everything. the layers are not invisible, and there are no masks. this happens to every symbol. i quit, closed, restarted, same thing. now it's happening with everything i open in flash.

I recently experienced a very strange bug and even afteruninstalling and reinstalling Flash the bug is still there. Myproblem is as follows: existing symbols on stage appear blank withthe correct bounding box. FIlls and lines appear correctly, but assoon as they are converted to a symbol they disappear. Objects Converted To Symbols Not Showing Up In Workspace CS4

It's extremely problematic when you're trying to design something.  It plays fine when tested, but you cant see anything that's converted to a graphic, button, or movie clip.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, rebooting, etc.
 
Also, I got an error message about the classic view not loading correctly, and everything's been goofy since.  I still can't edit anything in classic view.

IDE :: Objects Converted To Symbols Not Showing Up In Workspace?

After restarting the program, rebooting, and even reinstalling multiple times, this problem still arises. All of the objects I've turned into movie clips, or buttons just disappear. They still work in the published movies, but are invisible in the main timeline. I don't understand the problem. I've started new files to make sure it isn't my movie that is corrupt, but the second they turn into symbols, they disappear. Is there a solution to this that i'm overlooking?

This was harder than I thought (or could it be my lack of knowledge in AS ) Anyhow, problem: I want my cursor to swap with a costum cursor, go to an defined x and y position from its original position (maby wait a sec.. if possible) an then go back to where ever my original cursor position may be. Professional :: How To Enlarge A Keyframed Character

I've completed my first character in Flash. Happy with it's performance. Got eyes blinking, mouth syncing, and hands gesturing. But the character doesn't fill the screen the way I want. I need this to be a close-up shot of the character.When I go to enlarge the character it screws everything up because the head and body are keyed separately.Shouldn't there be a simple way to just group and scale the whole character without messing up the performance inside?

I just finished animating something, but I don't like how large it is, and I want to resize it. However when I select the objects to move them, it only selects the current key frame that I'm on for those objects, so moving it only affects that keyframe. How can I select all of my keyframes so I can make them all uniform?

I'm wiriting some code to read certain properties of a keyframed movieclip animation. The idea is that an animater will create an animation, the code will record the animation as it plays, then the numberd that have been saved can be used later. x, y, rotation, xScale and yScale all did swimmingly well. skewX and skewY come out as undefined, on every frame. They're both used in the movie (typically around 4 - 8 degrees). They're never the same as each other.

Copy - Paste Keyframed Scale Transforms Info Only

In Flash CS3 is it possible to copy a Keyframed and tweened animation of say a symbol growing larger and paste the Keyframes of the scaling transform onto a different symbol on a different layer so that this new symbol animates in the same way as the first symbol. When I try this with "ctrl alt c / v" the new symbol becomes the same as the old symbol and also moves to the same position too. I need to only copy the scale transform info in the Keyframes. Is this possible?

I'm working through a book called Foundation Game Design with Flash, and I'm finding the Flash IDE confusing. I've been programming for several years, so working with AS3 directly is far easier than trying to understand symbols and nested symbols and the difference between graphics and movie clips and scoping issues and all that -- when tied into the IDE.

How many of you who are making games in AS3 also use the Flash IDE? Can anyone recommend a resource that is AS3 heavy and Flash IDE light? I don't care how much time I may or may not save by using things like the timeline, I just want to understand what I'm using.

I added a Menu_mc on my stage. Initially, this should be at the center of the stage and when I click on it, it will tween on the upper left corner of the browser. However, when I resize the browser, the Menu_mc goes back to the center of the screen.

I have tried separating a different actionscript file where it is specifically for initialization of the object and another one for resizing. And then when I call it on my main AS file it goes like this:

I am using a ScrollPane in my application(viz., instance name is: myScrollPane). When I view the contents of the ScrollPane, it shows them perfectly. My issue is: When I try to view data present inside the ScrollPane, if I move the Vertical-ScrollBar of the ScrollPane to middle(or somewhere from top to down) and then click on Submit button(viz., instance name is: submit_btn), then its Vertical ScrollPosition must be reset from middle(or any position where we leave it before) to top(or initial position). Hence, I need to move the Vertical ScrollPosition of ScrollPane to top (or) initial position. Everytime, I need to refresh the VerticalScrollBar Position when I click on the submit button. How to do it?

So I'm trying my hands on some full browser flash and after reading a couple of tuts I wrote this

The trace's are because it didn't work like I thought it would.Etc the middle movieclip didn't center itself but rather positioned itself seemingly how it pleased so I traced its x position and the var stageXcenter position and like suspected it shows different values.

I have a ScrollPane and I want to get and set the scroll bars position (pixel position). For example, if the user changes the scroll bars position and then refreshes the page, we need to take the user at the same point where he was before refresh. For this I need to get the respective scroll bars positions before refresh and then set it to the saved position after load. I have got the positions by hPostion and vPosition but now when I try to save the values back to the same properties after refresh it doent work.

I just need to make the tween's position relative to it's current position, as opposed to starting at the stage's 0 position then moving the the stage's -40 position. It needs to start at its current position the move -40 from that position.

comes up with TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.

This works fine but how can that be when surely you must access the red withen the background rather then just accessing red?

I have an Input Text area that users can edit and then submit. I need to be able to show, on screen, the cursor's current position as they type. I don't need to know where the mouse is but all work-arounds I've found so far can only tell me the mouse position. The font for the text is 'courier' or 'courier new' and the Input Text area is scrollable.

I've run into a new problem, this time with positioning. I've narrowed down the line that's causing it--"block.y = block.y + block.height;" in SetOfBlocks.shiftDown. When I take it out, no problem. But with it in, instead of just dropping each block down by a block height, the affected blocks sometimes move up, and also often move about randomly within the X axis--although their new positions always keep them lined up with the 'grid', which is to say, within multiples of the block height and widths.
