Is there a way in which to track the time a Flash page is viewed? For instance, once the page loads, a timer begins. When the user moves to a different page, the timer is stopped?
View 2 RepliesI have an interactive story divided into scenes. At the end of each scene a button appears. This occurs on a frame on the timeline.
There are two different buttons that might appear based on whether a prior scene has been viewed or not.
For example, there are Scene_1 and Scene_2. At the end of Scene_2 one of two buttons will appear. The buttons will be either "Go see Scene_1" or "Return to Main Menu".
If the user has already seen Scene_1, Flash will know that and automatically go to the frame in Scene_2 that contains the button "Return to Main Menu".
Conversely, if the user has not seen Scene_1, Flash will know and automatically go to the frame in Scene_2 that contains the button "Go see Scene_1".
I imagine there would be an action frame at the end of Scene_2 that will contain the as2 code to enable this action.
Perhaps something like, but probably not at all like the following:

I am creating an ebrochure, where in my timeline i have three layers: top bar (for my glossary and help buttons), nav bar (with my prev and next buttons) and the pages of the brochure.
The pages consist of each frame having a movieclip for that page, so frame one has page one movieclip, etc... and are all individual frames.
The top bar layer spans the entire set of page frames (14) as does the nav bar, but I have the glossary and help on frames after the pages end. What I am trying to do is that when someone clicks to go to the glossary from where ever they currently are, the prev button on the nav bar that is over the glossary page can take me back to the last page I was on. So, if on page 4 and click to go to glossary, prev takes me back to page 4. But if i am on page 7, prev takes me back to page 7.
I am creating a website using the slide presentation template. However, when I navigate to a page I have already viewed, it only shows the last frame of the slide rather than starting from frame 1 of the slide. Is there I way I can tell button to go to a slide and play from frame 1 regarless of how many times the slide has been viewed?
View 6 RepliesI have a html page with a flash element. The flash element loads in an external swf. This works fine when I'm testing from the swf, but when I test from my HTML page the external swf doesn't seem to load into my main swf.
I have all my swf's in a folder called "swf". The HTML document is at the root level. In my main swf the actionscript for loading the external swf is:

Some how the path to the external swf gets lost. I've tried new URLRequest("soundComponent.swf"); as well. And like I said, this all works from the swf, just not when viewing from an HTML page.
I have a flash mp3 player that lives in the root on my server, I have members on my site that each have their own folders which have an xml file in them for their uploaded mp3 files, my question is, how do I get as3 to call from the player to the xml file for whichever member page is being viewed, for example, if you were viewing members/profile.php?id=1, the player which is on the profile.php page calls to the playlist.xml file in the id folder '1' I know I can use the xml load function but how would I get the members/$id in there
View 4 RepliesDoes anyone know of a way to track the load time of an XML document? I have an xml document that has over 150,000 lines and it takes a little time to load. I am ok with the load time in general however I would like to create a preloader to tack its process.
I have tried putting the xml load/onLoad code in a movie clip and use getBytesTotal and getBytesLoaded to track the mc progress but it seems as though when that mc is loaded the application freezes until the xml is fully loaded.
The timer class seems to accrue a lot of error over time so I'm wondering what other solutions people have come up with for a more accurate Timer.

View 18 RepliesI need to make a local shared object (or javascript cookie function- below) that I can use to calculate the time since an ad was last loaded. It's an expanding ad, and I only want it to expand once every 2 hours. (Trying to keep the expanding-annoyance to a minimum!) I understand the basics of creating an "lso" but the action script for retrieving the time, placing it as a variable in the lso, and later retrieving it to figure the time is well beyond me. I considered a normal browser cookie, set to delete after the session, bypassing all time calculations... Forcing javascript to create a cookie ONLY when flash tells it to (after the ad has expanded) is tripping me up and creating a function to check for the cookie on the first frame to decide whether or not to continue is also beyond my simple animation skills.

The problem is that instead of silently communicating, pageTracker._trackEvent() appears to return a boolean value. Every time I click the button which this is located on I leave the page I was on and end up on a page that just contains the word "true".how to get around this? It makes the flash unusable.

View 2 RepliesI have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.

(Of course I understand that I can set the first one to play and the others to stop mode, but that doesn't solve the problem) What I try do do is this: *When the web site starts only the first pseudo page let the swf play. *When clicking a link to an other pseudo page that particular movie on the linked page starts playing. *All other swf movies don't play.

How can I play an embedded flv video automatically in a Flash website every time it loads a page?
For example: When I click on the "About" button, I'll go to the About page. On that page, there's an embedded flv that I want to play automatically every time I go to the "About" page.
i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I'm working on a project with AS3. On timeline I have a movie clip which contains a timer (only one frame). The timer for testing purposes has been set to six seconds. In timeline are two labels (page1 and page2). Timer is on page1. PROBLEM: I would like timer move to page 2 on scene1 when time is zero (0). how to do that. Here is my script:

View 3 RepliesI wonder if anyone on here has any experience of the above component [URL]. It produces 'turning page' books from jpegs and I'm having problems with one aspect of it. I've created a 'GO TO' button where the user can enter the page number that he or she wishes to visit. It all works beautifully, with one problem. The FlippingBook component is set to start at page '0'. This means that if the user enters '5' in the GO TO page box and clicks 'GO', he or she will be taken to page number 6, rather than 5, because what we are calling page 1, the component calls page 0.
I need to try and find a way around this, as if we're working on existing brochures with contents lists and index numbers, it is not feasible to just change all the page numbers. I would think that I need some code to tell the component to add a page to the number each time, but I'm not clear what the code should be or where it might be added.
