How is it possible to upload (or anything like that) the fonts you used in your flash project in order the user to see the exact same fonts you've chosen and not replace them with an other font?
View 2 RepliesRight I can upload the font to the server.But the only examples I can find - require registerFont(Verdana);Which means I'll need to create a new SWF with the new font embedded and reupload to the server. I need an automated way of doing this or perhaps something different altogether?

What I need to figure out is, if anywhere in that text the letters "com" appear in order i need to change the font color of just those letter. Is it possible to search a word to determine if the letters appear consecutively and then apply the styling to just those letters?
View 6 RepliesOne of our application is implemented in flex and adobe air. We want to have the user press combination of keys, say 'ABC', and have the keyboard return a different character, 'FOG', to whatever app is in focus. This should work even if app has no focus.
Will it possible in Adobe Air/Flex? If yes, provide me some examples?

I needto check this file either on the server or within a flash app tosee if it has these references and then grab those images in aflash app to upload to my server.So I can use FileReference easily enough to have users uploadlocal images. But FileReference requires users to select their files with a dialog box. I can't have that. Myusers wouldn't know where to look and there are typically way toomany files, sometimes with the same name but in differentdirectories.
I can also just use URLLoader with a local URL, I guess I canprobably just use Loader too? That works great. The problem here isI can't communicate with both the server and the local filesystemin the same flash application due to Flash's security sandboxrestrictions. So I can get out of those security restrictions byplacing or editing a trust file in designated locations on variousOSes. I then need to install this trust file which is more invasiveand confusing to users then I want to be...Java's method of accessing local files from a web applet bysimply signing the applet with a certificate and having a dialogbox popup where the users grants access is ideal. I'm having some real trouble getting .replace to actually replace something. Here's my code...

I can trace both newFiles[i] and keywords[i][whatever], but the replace doesn't replace anything. The regex is valid as well. I'm using regexr to test it, and it works perfectly there... but will not for me and I don't know why.
I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.

I've recently had to format my computer and now having a problem with the flash actionscript window: the actionscript text looks like bold, or in a different font. The problem is that when I search for something like "flash" and "fonts", no matter which other words I use, always comes a lot of things about fonts for flash files, or for flash embedding fonts, but never for the program itself. Wich font is missing in my system that flash CS3 needs?

I've tried running the example given on the Adobe site, so I know the value I'm trying to replace ("%20") isn't at fault - it's something about the string I have! View 4 RepliesIt seems it isn't possible at runtime to change styling defined in CSS files, ex.: colors. This is seemingly because the CSS files are compiled into SWF. Is it possible to externalize styling information in CSS (or any other format) without compiling it to SWF file so that it can be changed easily at runtime just as normal CSS can be changed when it is used in HTML.

I want to make it calculate the distance from the mouse to the NoTouch_mc and if it gets below a certain number, make the noTouch_mc move away from the mouse.If it could be made so it never leaves stage, that I'd like to incorporate too, but wouldn't I have to consider sinus and cosinus to an angle to make it turn?

I'm doing simple program to design kitchen. I'd like to avoid overlapping my movieclips but i dont know how. It means that when you drag movieclip - it would stop when it meets another movieclip. In others words, movie clip can be anywhere but not on the other movieclip.

every time i click on a button called create, an avatar is added to the stage. The positioning of each avatar is random and every picture is resized to fit 95x95 pixels.How can I check if I have positioned an avatar over an existing one? I am trying to avoid positioning them in the same space.
View 2 RepliesI currently have a login form in flash that needs to pass variables to a PHP script. That part works fine. The problem I am having is that when Flash passes the variables to PHP, it also passes the style of the input text.
For example, instead of passing "atomstore", it passes
"<TEXTFORMAT LEADING="2"><P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Arial" SIZE="12" COLOR="#000000" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">atomstore</FONT></P></TEXTFORMAT>".
This does not match the "atomstore" in the database and results in an error. Any way to get rid of all of these tags?

It's connected to a database where we keep track of the responses and print them in chart form and post the results on the website so everyone can see the most popular budget items the readers want to cut.

We've had many, many requests to have an option where the reader can get a copy of his/her choices that he/she can print out. I've thought about having a movieclip pop up that shows those choices (and that would be simple enough), but in addition to that, what I'd really like to do is have a way to download those choices to the reader's computer as a text file or maybe have a "Print" button on the movieclip showing the choices that would print just that movieclip. The database we have wouldn't really be suitable because it's set up to simply show which were chosen and which not, and the names of the submissions and choices are variables that don't really mean anything except to us when we put it all in an excel file.
I've been trying all morning to figure this out but I'm really not the best when it comes to actionscript. I've looked around and I just simply don't have a clue how to adopt other code to fit my own .I have the following code

Why doesnt this work? I want to avoid naming all of the movieclips that this hittest is to apply to but this._parent isnt working...
When running flash on a web page you usually have to click the Flash object once and then once again to click a button.
Is there a way to avoid this because many users are missing the second click and wondering why nothing is happening.
