ActionScript 3.0 :: Using TimerEvent To Control Banner Animation?

Very new to AS3 and wasn't a strong coder to begin with - I've been asked to build a large banner revealing multiple ads (4 to be precise). My thought is to use a TimerEvent (if, then type statement) to control how long each "billboard" will be on the stage, then have the next one slide onto the stage...etc, etc... I'm finding conflicting codes out there, and don't know which to pull from. This seems easy in my head, but the AS3 code appears very complex to pull this off.

I need to export a flash animation that I have produced as an email banner and send the file to a client who will add it to their emails for advertising. I have tried exporting it as an animated gif and the quality looks terrible!I know that gif only supports 256 colours but am trying to give the client something user friendly that they can just attach to the bottom of their email. I think there is programs that you can use to export it at a higher quality?

I'm trying to make a banner with a small game where you control a trash can, and you try to catch some trash falling down the stage. Also I got a dynamic text field on my stage called "tekst", where I want my counter to be shown. At last I'm trying to make a if sentence saying that if etc. counter<10 go to url. When I run it now, the trash is moving all right, but I can't get the hitTestObject to work, its saying that hitTestObject is not a function? How to export my counter to the text field on the stage.

i have some movieclips which i add to stage when a button is clicked ,when they are added i want to control some animation witch i create in a seperate class. everything works fine but i don�t see anything on the movie clip. I'm lost as how to control a vertical animation. I need a button to move a movieclip up, and I need a button on the movieclip to dismiss the same movie clip back down. If I can have some control over the speed of the animation that would be perfect.

Can i control the animation(i.e. play/stop) of an external swf that was created in macromedia flash professional 9 or older version using actionscipt 3.
I have earlier loaded swf files created in flash CS3 and controlled their animation in the parent swf by calling the play() and stop() methods.
But when i use the same code in case the loaded content was created in flash professional 9 or earlier version, the play() and stop() methods dont work.

I'm trying to create an input field where a user types a word and if correct, the movie progresses to the next frame (I just can't don't know how). More importantly, I wondered if there was a way to substitute clicking on a button with hitting a key on the keyboard? So instead of using a "submit" button to check the field's value... the user can just hit the "enter" or "return" button and the "if" and "gotoandplay" actions will occur.

I have an enemy movieclip.Inside that movieclip I have a motion tween so it moves around on the stage, then inside that movie clip I have an animation of his feet moving so it looks like he is walking as he moves across the stage. Also in that same animation of him walking is an image of him laying down and dying on frame 6.I just have the walking animation looping as the playhead gets to frame 5 so it won't show him dying.So what I want to know is how do I make it so when my hero shoots him with a bullet..the enemy goes to that dying image on frame 6 and stop.I can already make it so the bullet will kill an enemy if it is just movieclip>inside movieclip.But I don't know how to make the code communicate to make it work when its movieclip>inside movieclip>then inside that movieclip.

I can only run a timer.start(); command once, the second time it will only run once instead of the value of 10 repeat.

I want to be able to have the score add the ten points one at a time rather than all at once. It works fine the first time ten points are added, but the second, third, fourth, etc time it only adds one point then stops. How can I get the timer to work more than once?

I am attempting to use a TimerEvent in a while loop. In the example I have created below, the init function should loop through the values myArray, tracing each value at three second intervals. It seems, however, that because I am incrementing the currentNum value outside of the while loop (in the timerHandler function), that the loop just keeps running until Flash stops responding.[code]

I'm using multiple timers in a script, but I would like to use the same function with a Switch to define the appropriate action corresponding to the event.target. I've tried e.target.name but it says that name isn't a property of the Timer class... how can I retrieve the names (timer or timer2) within the onTimer function?

I had created a simple slide show in Flash and published as a .swf file. The slide show contains few images and the animation takes about 45 seconds to run at 8 frames per second. When i imported it into Flash Catalyst, the animationa runs very fast, taking only about 15 seconds to get through the whole slide show. I re-adjusted the animation in Flash to make it run slower but when i imported the new version into flash catalyst, it runs at the same speed, --still very fast.Is there any way for me to control the speed of my animation and make it runs the same speed as I set up in Flash?

I am trying to make a flash banner with a picture on the right that is covered with blinds and opens when the page loads. Then on the left side of the banner I have some text that I want to fade in after the picture loads and stops, I don't have a clue as to what I am doing wrong I can get the picture to loads and the blinds to open, but when I attempt to add the text fade in to it I no longer have my picture, although the text fade-in works fine. I am rather new to Flash and I have been work ing ont his for 3 days with no luck.

I have a movie clip, asterixHolder, with multiple frames that is instructed, at times, to gotoAndPlay at a particular frame (where'currentSection' is a number):

asterixHolder.gotoAndPlay("tween"+currentSection); Nested inside asterixHolder is a clip called theAsterix that I want to continually rotate. I've been achieving this with a Timer Event:

However, when the TimerEvent code is included - or to be more precise, when the function timerHandler references asterixHolder - the previous code to send the clip to the appropriate frame does not work. Could anyone tell me why this is the case? It doesn't seem logical that calling a nested clip should prevent the parent clip from doing anything.

Before I start my preloader animation, I want to play a quick animation. I was hoping to use a TimerEvent to delay the preloader from starting until the animation was over, but nothing's happening.I cobbled this together from other preloader tutorials, and since I'm not sure I understand how it all works, I shouldn't be too surprised that my hybrid failed.[code]I don't register either trace statement, but if I move this. loaderInfo.add EventListener (ProgressEvent.PRO GRESS, check_progress); out of the timer event function, then I get the trace statement just fine.

I have created some functions to manage timed pause/play in an animation and I am trying to make a class from them, but it does not work, the play() and stop() functions I use have no effect. The functions work as intended when not in the class.
Here is my code:

I checked that the functions are executed with the trace() and it is the case, so the problem really comes from the play() and stop() functions, and I do not receive any error at compilation or runtime.

I have two MovieClips, and both are controlled by keyboard events. One is a globe that I want to rotate in one direction or the other. The second is a walking animation that should change direction or stand still depending on which key is pressed or if none are.
Here is the AS Code:

I'm doing my company website. When a mouse event sends you to my services page I have 4 seperate blocks of text that fade in. So far I have the first 2 texts blocks fading in at the same time. I want to stagger the timing so the second block of text starts its fade in a fraction of a second later, and so on with the remaining text blocks.
