ActionScript 3.0 :: Adding A Class To Screen

Jan 19, 2012

I'm trying to add a class to the screen so the stuff I have in the class can be seen. I'm using a class called "Upgrades" to add the other class "BuyStuffContent" to the screen through [code]This is a game and I'm using Model,View, Controller if that helps. Anything added to _gameModel. screen goes on the screen. I tried this in another section of the game and it worked fine.[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keep Adding Children To A MC Already On The Screen?

Nov 10, 2009

I'm working on a project where I keep adding children to a MC already on the screen. There are two types of these children: Sprites that I use to draw lines using moveTo, lineTo, ect. Then there's sprites that have children inside of THEM that are bitmaps.

For some strange reason, the Sprites with the bitmaps on them always have a higher depth/index (AS3 terminology is still weird for me) than the normal Sprites.

Here's a diagram of my MC/children/children layers:

---------------=> (Sprites that draw lines)
(MC on Stage) =>
---------------=> (Sprites that hold bitmaps) => (Bitmap)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Bitmap - Adding The Picture To The Screen

Jul 21, 2009

I have an issue with Bitmap object. I have a photo gallery which I read from an XML file. Each photo has a path, id and description. When I'm adding the picture to the screen I am doing as follows:

[Code]...

My problem is that when I click the bitmap added to the container I must know what picture this is by getting an id. This way I know what gallery I am to open. A bitmap object does not have this property to be set (id and path). I have decided to create a class which extends Bitmap and then add these attributes within this class. So instead of using a bitmap I would use something like:

ActionScript 3.0 :: TypeError: Error #1034 While Adding A Child To Screen

Dec 13, 2011

I am attempting to add a child to the stage with the following code:

Actionscript Code:
//Buttons: Adds movie clip to stage.readtomeShortA1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playShortAReadMe1);function playShortAReadMe1(e:TimerEvent):void{  var playShortA1:ShortAReadMe1 = new ShortAReadMe1  addChild(playShortA1);  playShortA1.x = 307;  playShortA1.y = 603;}

When I test the movie the following message appears,

"TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed:cannot convert flash.events::MouseEvent@212a161 to flash.events.TimerEvent," when I click the button ("readtomeShortA1"). Note the instance I am referring to is a button. When the swf is created there are compile errors that appear. The "TypeError....." only happens when I click on the button ("readtomeShortA1").

FYI, there is other code on the page which is below the code in question:

Actionscript Code:
//Button CodebackTo.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, backToShortA);function backToShortA(event:MouseEvent):void{  gotoAndPlay(1); SoundMixer.stopAll();}ForwardTo2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, toPage2);function toPage2(event:MouseEvent):void{ gotoAndPlay("page_2"); SoundMixer.stopAll();}

Professional :: Adding Text And A Slideshow Instance Skews SWF Off Screen

Jul 15, 2010

I have a third party slideshow instance (SlideShowPro (SSP)) and have used the following code to allow SSP to resize to screen:

import net.slideshowpro.slideshowpro.*;
import flashx.textLayout.formats.BlockProgression;
stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;

[Code]....

It all works fine.  However, I am trying to put in links on the stage outside of SSP (i.e., Home, Gallery, About, etc.) as shown in this example website [URL].  When I do, the stage is truncated and part of SSP is skewed off the page.

How do I make sure that my stage containing text and SSP is captured as the SWF?

Flash :: Adding Components To Flex 4 App Makes Screen Go Blank?

Aug 2, 2010

I've been adding some components to a Flex 4 app (it was originally Flex 3 but has been ported). Some of these components make the app go blank when it loads. I'm not even able to see the loading progress bar. Just white.

For example, adding

<s:controlBarContent>
<s:Button label="Admin" />
</s:controlBarContent>

To the root tag causes this. I also was able to make it happen when I tried setting a custom components skin from my style sheet instead of from the skinClass property.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Swf Screen Recorder Class?

Oct 21, 2009

Is there a way to record the stage in an image sequence or movie, not by exporting, but with actionscript? The exporter sucks, because it doesn't even work if one of your movie clips has a child timeline, or internal timeline, or whatever you'd call it. I'd also be able to create procedural animations with flash.

And if you know the name of it if it's a downloadable class, by all means, tell me.

Adding Movieclips To Object Class?

Aug 25, 2010

I am building an image gallery which has a very simple design. The gallery has a button area, where the buttons are movieclips, and an area where there are images, which are also movieclips.I am using flash CS3, AS3.Each time I use an eventlistener to tween the alpha value of each image (the brightness) when the button movieclip is pressed, I must call a command to reduce the value of every OTHER image that is in my gallery as well as increase the alpha value of the single image I want.This means I have a lot of typing and I was wondering if there was an easier way to manage my movieclips, such as to use the Array class or the Object class. However I can not seem to on the subject on adding a movieclip instance name and its property to a class that could store the data, or the reasonable command to select/omit other movieclips

ActionScript 2.0 :: Adding A Method To MC Class?

Jul 16, 2009

Basically I want to create my own drawRect() for as2.normally, I would just prototype it:

Code:
MovieClip.prototype.drawRect = function(x,y,w,h){ //etc.. }
and then I would be able to use it like:
Code:
mymc.drawRect(a,b,c,d);

Is there a way to make that function a class so that I can still call it from a movieclip directly? I read in another post somewhere about calling super.drawRect() in an extended class, but I'm not 100% on how to actually do this.So far I have what is below. I don't think I'm supposed to be declaring the mc var, but I can't think of another way to do it.

Code:
class drawRect extends MovieClip{
private var mc:MovieClip;
function drawRect(x,y,w,h){

ActionScript 3.0 :: Using The Tween Class To Move Them Around The Screen?

I have various instances of an object that I want to animate.

Code:
var obj = new obj_class();
I'm using the Tween class to move them around the screen.

Code: var tw:Tween=new Tween(obj, "y", None.easeNone, y1, y2, framerate);
tw.addEventListener(TweenEvent.MOTION_FINISH, removeObj);
addChild(obj);

I start the animation on a button press.Code: stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN,key_down); When I click the button the animation of the instances seems ok, but if I click the button quickly sometime the animation doesn't end, the object seems freezed in the middle of the screen and also the MOTION_FINISH isn't called.

ActionScript 3.0 :: A Class Adding Itself To Display List?

Dec 14, 2009

What i'm trying to do is create an errorAlert class. The role of this class is to as you might expect display an alert:) So the current class is set up in such a way.

1. pass in an errorcode returned from the server into the constructor.

2. This runs through a switch and sets a msg variable to the right textual prompt based on the code. At this stage it also sets an alert type, so as an example it could be a severe alert where the user has no option other than ot refresh the browser. Or it is a softer alert where the user is able to press a close button and proceed.

Because all of the type handling and everything is held within the class. I want to avoid adding the instance to the display list within the main document class. Ideally just letting the class add itself to the stage AND IF it is a softer alert, it can show the close button, add an event listener, and, then remove itself.

Class :: FLA File - Adding Child To Stage

Apr 12, 2012

I am trying to make a "Achtung! die kurve" - like game in Actionscript 3.0. So far I've done the movement of one of the 'worms', and it works alright. I wanna divide it into different class files, but I can't seem to get it to work. I have a .fla file and 4 .as files. So far I only have code in two of these. When I put all my code directly into the fla file, it works perfectly fine, but when I put it into my player class, it won't 'add the child' to the stage. Here is my player .as file: [URL].

The reason why I commented the addChild, is because I wanna do this in my mainFile.as. This is from the main file: [URL]. I'm not quite sure how to call it in the main file, so I'm guessing that this would be the issue. All the files are named and placed correctly in the same folder, and flash says that each of my .as files are targeting the .fla file, so this doesn't seem to be the issue. How I can change the speed of my sprite.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Adding Method To Existing Class?

Jul 5, 2009

I'm trying to make a new method for the XMLNode class and I want to use this method in other classes of mines that manipulate XMLNodes. Here's what I did :

1. I wrote an Ext class which you can read here :

[Code].....

It didn't work (saying that myMethod doesn't exist), so I added this line "static var e : Ext = new Ext();" before "function Testing () {}" Then my method worked. I don't understand why but great.

3. The problem is that I want to use the method not only in the main function but also in other classes of the application. However, when another class tries to call the custom method, it says that it is not defined. I don't know how to solve that.

Additional infos: I'm using the Eclipse IDE rather than the traditional Flash IDE so I don't have such a thing as "the first frame". My app only has the main function.
-MTASC which compiles my code doesn't support #include
