ActionScript 3.0 :: Tell When Movie Has Stopped Playing

Aug 26, 2009

I have a movie in my library which I've assigned a class so I can attach it to the stage in my code. This movie has stop() markers along it.

I have it fade in and play when the user clicks a button and it stops when it hits a marker (stop()) Now I want it to fade back out once it stops.

Is there an eventlistener that I can put in to say the movie has stopped?

I tried putting a call to the fade out function (on main timeline) in the video with the stop()'s but knew it wouldn't work.

Professional :: Increasing Idle CPU Usage With Repeated Playing Of Very Animated Movie Clip?

Feb 17, 2011

I'm developing a touch-screen Flash  application for a shoe store, and it runs fine initially, but slows down  toward the end of the day. I've been diligent with removing event  listeners and so on. I've now narrowed the problem to be very specific -  it's one section of the application causing the problem, and one part  of that section:

- I have a main movie clip which  contains the animation, which itself contains 5 nested movie clips, each  with their own timeline. All movie clips have a stop action on the  final frame. images are transparent PNGs with outer glow "filter" - the issue is not with performance as such, but with CPU increasing  over time. Each time you play the clip, there is a small amount of CPU  usage that 'sticks' and doesn't get freed up. What happens is that if  you play the movie clip many (MANY MANY) times, then eventually it  starts to slow down. Mac's Activity Monitor shows that the idle CPU  usage is increasing slowly, over many times of playing the clip. It's  insignificant with each play, but adds up over time.

You  may be inclined to say: oh filters effect CPU, so it will be slow - but  it isn't slow until it plays many, many times. Initially it's fast. I've uploaded a .zip with .app and .exe versions of my problem section. There are two files of each type: AutoPlay.app  (& .exe): plays the problem clip repeatedly (I've just removed the  final 'stop();' frame), so you can leave it open and come back in half  an hour to see it slowing down.
ClickToPlay.app (& .exe): Plays the problem  clip once when you click the 'play' button, so you can click several  times, let it return to idle, and verify that the idle CPU usage is in  fact increasing.

Actionscript 3 :: Flash - Event Listener For When A Movieclip Is Stopped

Oct 24, 2011

I'm thinking of making a movieclip which stops itself at certain points (just with stop(); at certain keyframes in the movieclip timeline), then the user is prompted to continue the clip.

What is the best why to listen for the stopping of the movieclip? I think I want an event listener that detects when the movieclip is stopped, but I don't know if there is one.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Whole Instances Are Paused When 1 MovieClip Instance Is Stopped

Oct 31, 2010

Here's what I have in my design:

- There's an update function in the main loop that updates position of the game objects, check whether it's alive/out of bound for deletion.

- I have certain frames/keyframes section of an object that denotes what kind of animation that object is playing (idling, exploding, death animation, etc)

For now, I only have 1 frame for the target object idling on frame 1, and 1 animation when the target object explodes from frame 2 to frame 25. Naturally, I'd like to stop the movie clip from playing it repeatedly from frame 1->25. But when I do so (putting this.stop() on frame 1). Every instances in the scene are stopped. (the player idling animation has 4 keyframes, and it stuck on frame 1).

ActionScript 2.0 :: HitTest And Positioning - Create An Invisible Movieclip That Has The Exact Size And Shape Of The Animated Movieclip

Aug 23, 2005

This is the third thread I've written for my current project (1st was answered perfectly, 2nd failed [but I still figured it out anyways]) but I'm not sure if there is a solution to this problem. I can't really explain my problem, so once again I've included a helpful animation to show you what I mean. Bear in mind that the pale-blue box represents the movie clip's borders, and those borders are usually changed to include the animation (instead of the borders moving with the animation, the borders get bigger).

For the animation problem, I've already got a solution: create an invisible movie clip that has the exact size and shape of the animated movie clip and make it follow the movie clip as it animates, and make the hitTest check the invisible movie clip instead of the animated one. As for the rotation problem, well, I don't know how to fix it. Is there a way to change that?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Drag Animated Movieclip?

Oct 19, 2009

Goal: Now, I want to be able to drag and drop this character movieclip around the stage as I please, leaving him wherever I want, with all of his movements still going on AND the mouseover movements as well.Logic: Since, when the mouse is over this character, I need the drag option area to be a little x or any object close to him, so it doesnt interfere with the movieclips mouse over effects. (could simply be a little rectangle saying: drag me)Problem: Iave no idea how to do this... I am only now starting with this Actionscript world! Donď get me wrong, I am not lazy, Ive been researching but couldnt find exactly what Im looking for.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Size Of Animated MovieClip

Jan 25, 2012

I have a problem concerning the size of an animated MovieClip. What I want to do is drawing a frame (.graphics.drawRect(...), etc.) around a loaded image file. This works well on loaded images that are static, no matter if it is a jpg, png or a non-animated swf. However, if I load a swf that is animated, its width and height properties are simply wrong. Much too small. They are, however, always the same wrong values for the same animated swf.I also tried with getBounds and getRect on the loaded swf (which I put in as a MovieClip), with the same results. What's up with this and how can I get the real size of the swf?

What we could do would be to insert a fully transparent layer into each swf that would define its size. That would hopefully make the MovieClip always have the correct size. But I would prefer a working way during runtime that workaround works, but I'd still prefer a way that does not involve additional work for our artists (minimal as it might be).

ActionScript 2.0 :: Get A Movieclip Within A Movieclip To Stop Playing When It Reaches Its Last Frame

Nov 20, 2007

i'm trying to get a movieclip within a movieclip to stop playing when it reaches its last frame. let me describe my problem: it should start playing when the user rolls over the movieclip that is containing it(i'll call this mc1, and the movieclip within it mc2). i've put a stop action in mc2's last frame but it won't stop and plays again and again. one thing i should point out is that there is a variable in mc1 that tells the movie whether it's ok to play the movie in reverse when the user rolls over mc1, if this is false, that means that it plays normally(not in reverse). i'm using "play()" to play mc1 when the user rolls over it and this is where i think the problem is; even though the last frame of mc2 has a stop action, it is somehow told to play again? anyways, this is just a guess, i haven't figured out why or how to fix it. i'm not sure if my explanation was too hard to understand so i'll try to clarify it if anyone wants me to.
