ActionScript 3.0 :: One Button - Plays Several Movie Clips In Order?

Nov 17, 2009

I'm using AS3 in CS4. I have a problem which i can't get past: I have a button which when clicked I wish it to play two movie clips (blind_mc, text_mc) when clicked.. however I do not wish them to play at the same time (as the script below achieves).. but to play one after the other.

I cannot put them on the same layer or join the two togther for many reasons including -- I have many different buttons i wish to apply this too all with different number of movie clips and orders of play, therefore I would have to create excessively long layers for each and every click.

function goHome(e:MouseEvent):void {
blind_mc.play();
text_mc.gotoAndPlay(2);

ActionScript 2.0 :: Play Movie Clips In Random Order

Apr 15, 2009

I don't even know how to start with this. I have 15 movie clips on the stage, each with an animation within it, I need them to play at random, one after the other. Ideally, once there's mousemovement, everything should reset.I kind of understand the random function and how to generate numbers, and I know this will probably involve arrays, but I don't know how to put this together.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Sequence Movie Clips To Play In A Certain Order?

Oct 6, 2004

how to sequence movie clips to play in a certain order. I want to play one movie clip that is animated using actions and then once that clip is finished, play the next one (naturally, to create some sort of design.)If I have two MC's that have separate scripts on them - how would I go about playing the first movie clip and once that animation is finished playing the next one?I've tried placing a 2ndmovieclipname.stop () style script at the end of the first movie clip.I am currently using Flash MX 2004.

PS - I do not have my clips animated with frames, so I don't believe the option to gotoAndPlay (frame x) is available to me.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Transparent Areas Of Movie Clips -- Clicking Buttons Underneath?

Jan 23, 2004

I've got a movie clip with masked-out areas. It's placed on top of various buttons.The idea is, the user rotates the top movie clip to reveal stationary buttons beneath it. Where there's a hole in the top movie clip, i'd like the user to be able to click the button revealed below.

It's looking like that's not possible. The buttons underneath cannot be activated, because the top movie clip is in the way, despite the transparency from the mask.

I'll begin thinking of a Plan B workaround, but first I wanted to ask if there's a way I'm not thinking of to do my Plan A.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Check If A Tween Has Finished For BOTH Clips?

Jul 5, 2009

What I was looking for is a way to check if a tween has finished for BOTH clips. I thought I could try it like this:

Code:

import mx.transitions.Tween;
import mx.transitions.easing.*;
var xScaleT:Tween = new Tween(kText, "_rotation", Elastic.easeOut, 0, 360, 3, true);

[code]....

But I noticed that first the ending of xScaleT is triggerd after 3 secs. and after that the ending of XPosT 9 secs. later. What I want is for this.yoyo() to occur if BOTH xScaleT and XPosT have finished. There isn't something like 'onMotionFinishedAll' ?

for (var i:int = 0; i < targetArr.length; i++)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Multiple Files Into A MC In Order In Scrollbar?

Feb 24, 2011

We are trying to build a site with these features:

Our site will be built in Actionscript 3.

1. A navigation menu that, when a button is clicked, will scroll the site quickly to a specific Y position using swfaddress.

2. The entire site is controlled by a flash scroll bar, which will be scrolling a single movieclip. The movieclip will load multiple swfs one by one that correspond to the navigation, in order, making the site appear to be very tall.

**What we are in need of is understanding how to load multiple swf files into a movie clip, in a specific order, and having them scroll between one another through the navigation.

A great reference to this is the SWFC Shanghai site. If you google it and click on a link, you'll see this effect.

Current error: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method load.

AS3:

//XML Loader
var myXML:XML = new XML();

Actionscript 3.0 :: Loading Multiple Files Into An MC In Order In Scrollbar

2. The entire site is controlled by a flash scroll bar, which will be scrolling a single movieclip.

2B. The movieclip will load multiple zipped files one by one that correspond to the navigation, in order, making the site appear to be very tall.

**What we are in need of is understanding how to load multiple zipped files into a movie clip, in a specific order, and having them scroll between one another through the navigation. The separate navigation categories can be in movieclips instead of zipped files if that is easier.

Here is a reference of something that works like this: [URL]

ActionScript 2.0 :: [MX] Preload Multiple .swfs In RANDOM Order?

Jan 13, 2005

I've got a Flash file that displays a series of .swfs one after the other and I'm trying to figure out how to encorporate a preloader into this script that takes into account the fact that I'm randomly selecting which of those .swfs to display first.

Here's what the attached script does so far:

1. Call external XML file and put .swf path names into an array.

2. Randomly select one of those .swfs to display first.

3. Once that .swf movie has played through (each one is about 6 seconds long) --OR-- if the "next" button is clicked, load the next .swf file.

4. When we've reached the last .swf file in the list, start back at the beginning of the list.

I have looked at a BUNCH of preloader scripts but just haven't grasped actionscript enough to know how to encorporate them into my file.

Flex :: Data Binding - Update Multiple Bindable Properties In Specific Order?

Apr 20, 2011

I have a situation where I need to update a DropDownList's dataProvider and selectedItem in a specific order. See the following code ...

<s:DropDownList id="dropDownList"
dataProvider="{someDataProvider}"
selectedItem="{someSelectedItem}" />

In my case, some user interaction produces new values for the bindable variables "someDataProvider", and "someSelectedItem". However, when flex renders the DropDownList, the control's selected value is empty.

The reason for this is that the DropDownList's "selectedItem" property gets bound before the "dataProvider" property. The "dataProvider" needs to be bound first for "selectedItem" to be valid, this is because the new "selectedItem" points into the new "dataProvider".

what is the best practice for updating bindable properties in a specific order? I've come up with a few ways (e.g. using a valueCommit handler), but I wanted to see what the community had to say.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Random Script That Will Make Movie Clips Play In "random" Order

May 5, 2009

I have 5 boxes on the stage as movie clips, each one with the same animation waiting to be targeted. What I need is a random script that will make them play in "random" order. This should occur after a few seconds of inactivity where they each play, but once there's mouse movement, whichever ones did animate should "reset" or play back to their original positions, (assuming there's more boxes and there's movement before all of them play). I have some code in there for arrays and some random script that isn't working right now. I just need the random setup, really. I may be able to figure out the time delay, (maybe), and then be able to tweak the rest of it for how I need. Right now, I've just simplified everything in a 5 box example hoping someone might be able to work with what I have.

I am creating an order form for my flash site. I have never done this before in flash but I have in visual basic. I have a few questions:

1. Is assigning variable names to checkboxes and radio buttons the same as in visual basic? I mean i know that you probably assign them in the properties. ex..say i name a radio button 'radio1', to run a check in my actionscript whether radio1 was checked or not would it be something like if(radio1){}

2. After the person fills out the form I would like to have the results of the order sent to a pre-specified email adress in a certain format. What would be a good way to do this?
