I know the SoundMixer.computeSpectrum and Sound.extract() methods , but those methods deal with the total sound output. Instead, is there a way to deal with every single SoundChannel, so as to provide a graphical visualization of each of them?

Just wanted to ask, is it at all possible to create sound spectrum from the data that RTMP server streamed? I read this computeSpectrum and it says
"In addition, this method cannot be used to extract data from RTMP streams, even when it is called by content that reside in the same domain as the RTMP server."
I will not be using FMS so it stays inpossible. Are there any available hacks with php and the server or whatever?

I am trying to create a sound spectrum analyiser, or as I call it, audio visualization. I have seen many examples, including the competition held on this site. However, I have yet to find anything on real time audio, whereby the spectrum reacts to sounds it hears rather than pre compiled songs. provide me with links to some tutorials on real time sound spectrums

I find it kind of weird that IE8 would render my as3 different than firefox, and that I can't trust the movie player. I'm creating my movie object code using jquery and javascript. When I play the movie in the modal display the first time, it play and renders correctly. On the second time, the play controls dissappear.
I have spend about a 2 days on this, and have isolated it down to this object. It looks like the stage.stagewidth is inconsistent after the 1st time the object loads on a clients browser. Once the file gets cached by IE8 in the temp folder, it seems to change.
So I have replaced the stage.stagewidth with a var that is pased via flash vars, fv_Player_Width, which is 640.

I have a flash header that was never completed because the guy I hired took people's money and ran. So now I even wonder if what he said could work with my flash header is true or not. But, usually there is always a way to make it work.
I have a flash header that does two important things: 1) Upon entering the site, it loads and plays an audio track 2) Makes an animal noise when you hover over each animal menu item. (not sure if I'm able to give a link to it or not on here. If I able to and someone would like to see it let me know)
I want to know if my flash header can support the following additional functionality/changes:
1) Currently, it loads everytime a page is selected. I only want it to load the one time of entering the site because the audio gets annoying. Set a cookie maybe?
2) But, I do not want to turn the audio off completely because I still want the hover over each menu item sound.
3) Have a link on it to allow them to select to turn on / off the sound completely. It currently has that, but only for the current page. Once you select another page, the audio is back to on.
4) Lastlly, is there a way for it to detect that someone doesn't support flash and to display an html version of it? And can flash create a html version from my fla file?
I don't know much about flash (but am learning) so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do this myself. However, I want to find out if my flash header will even work this way before I invest the time learning it just for these changes. I know it will be pretty deep with script code, but I'm hoping I could find base code already available for these features. Not sure I can afford help now because of being laid off and two different scammers taking advantage of me. So I'm going to try to do myself and see if there is any suggestions/support on here that can help. I have Flash CS4.

Does anybody know a purely PHP based way to alter the frequency of an MP3 file?
A client's website is utilizing a Flash based MP3 player to play some audio.The client is producing the audio herself.
The trouble is that the tools that she is producing it with, and is familiar with, automatically produces MP3 files with a frequency of 48000hz, while some versions of Flash have trouble playing anything with a frequency differing from 44100khz.

When loading a MP3 to a flash.media.Sound object the id3 property gives an error:
SecurityError: Error #2000: No active security context.
Offcourse, like many errors in Flex, the Flex documentation doesn't mention a thing about this, except that it exists...
The MP3 is valid (i've checked it with MediaPlayer and iTunes), the Sound object is in a good state (bytesTotal and bytesLoaded both reflect the correct amount of bytes).

Recently I asked this question: How to get the fundamental frequency from FFT? (you don't actually need to read it) My doubt right now it: how to use the cepstral algorithm? I just don't know how to use it because the only language that I know is ActionScript 3, and for this reason I have few references about the native functions found in C, Java and so on, and how I should implement them on AS. Most articles are about these languages) The articles I found about cepstral to find the fundamental frequency of a FFT result told me that I should do this:

I have the following:
package {
import flash.display.MovieClip;
public class Ratio extends MovieClip {
private var counter:Number;
private var frequency:Number;
private var ratio:String;
[Code] .....
This outputs something like:
0: true
1: true
2: false
3: false
But what I would actually like is:
0: true
1: false
2: true
3: false
i.e. more even dispersion (alternation)...is there a way to do this?

I'm writing a Comet-like app using Flex on the client and my own hand-written server.
I need to be able to send short bursts of data from the client at quite a high frequency (e.g. of the order of 10ms between sends).
I also need the server to push short bursts of data at a similarly high frequency.
I'm using NetConnection.call() to send the data to the server, and URLStream (with chunked encoding) to push the data from the server to the client.
What I've found is that the data isn't being sent/received as soon as it's available. For example, in IE, it seems the data is sent every 200ms rather than as soon as NetConnection.call() is called. Similarly, URLStream isn't making the data available as soon as the server is sending it.
Judging by the difference in behaviour between the browsers, it seems as though the Flash Player (version 10) is relying on the host browser to do all the comms. Can anyone confirm this? Update: This is very likely as only the host browser would know about the proxy settings that might be set.
I've tried using the Socket class and there's no problem with speed there: it works perfectly. However, I'd like to be able to use HTTP-based (port 80) connections so that my app can run in heavily fire-walled environments (I tried using a Socket over port 80, but that has its problems).
Incidentally, all development/testing has been done on an internal LAN, so bandwidth/latency is not an issue.
Update: The data being sent/received is in small packets and doesn't need to be in any particular format. For example, I might need to send a short array of Numbers, and this could either be encoded in AMF (e.g. via NetConnection.call()) or could be put into GET parameters (e.g. using sendToURL()). The main point of my question is really to see whether anyone else has experienced the same problem in calling NetConnection/URLStream frequently, and whether there is a workaround (it's also possible that the fault lies with my server code of course, rather than Flash).

So far, I dragged a MoveClip which i called "ledLight" to the stage multiple of times which resemble (you guessed it) an LED light displaying the words "EMOTION". in giving a Movie Clip that displays a slow flow of spectrum colors. Does anyone know the math to create this type of spectrum?
I'm using the F8 bitmap object and this image for a color preferences panel, and would like to use the same image for a fall-back to F7.
For F8, I'm using getPixel(), for F7 I'll need to determine the color (or as close an approximation as possible) using the math used to create this type spectrum.
