ActionScript 3.0 :: Tween And Property Values Don't Sync Up?

I have a button that I want to immediately go to full alpha and a tween that slides it out gently on rollover. The problem is that the alpha is only set for a second and then it goes back to .5 alpha. It seems like the alpha is only set for the first frame in the tween and then goes away as the tween executes the rest of the frames/seconds. How can I make the alpha instantly 100% and then remain for the remainder of the mouseover?

I'm wondering if there are numerical limits for the values you can manipulate using the tween class.I am importing mx transitions and using them to manipulate the _xscale and _yscale of a movie clip.. If I understand correct.. x and y scale property is measured in percentage..
is there a limitation on the value I can plug in?
Can I scale.. say.... 1,000,000% (million)
how about 100,000,000,000 !!! (one hundred trillion)
How about limits on _x and _y position values..?to quell any curiosity, I'm essentially trying to control a movie clip that has the appearance of 'zooming' in with button clicks by increasing the scale..

My problem is, I would like to have a variable which returns the current red, green and blue values of the movie clip during the tween.In other words, I need to define a variable for the current RGB in the middle of my AS colour tween so that the following example would tween smoothly from the current values to the target.

I'm pretty new to AS3, using Flash (CS3) to build applications for my university degree. In my movie I've got an array (completionArray) with 7 values, which are set to all be "false". What I'd like to be able to do is use the contents of this array to switch GUI elements on and off.As an example, I've got a movie clip called cowItem on the stage. I'd like to use the first value in the array to set the .visible property of that movie clip, but I can't for the life of me work out how to get it to work.[code]Like I say, I'm new to AS3 and haven't tried using variables as part of a property before, and I also have a similar problem using variable values as part of a method call.

Given a dynamic or non-dynamic class like the following:

Flex 3 allows you to assign a value to myProperty like this:
myClassInstance["myProperty"] = "myValue";
myClassInstance["myBooleanProperty"] = true;
I regularly parse XML to get property names and their values then update correlated classes using this technique; however, Flex 4 no longer allows assigning the boolean property. I don't have a work-around.
If you trace the results:
trace(myClassInstance.myProperty) // Returns "myValue"
trace(myClassInstance.myBooleanProperty) // Returns null

I've got a property, var angleX:Number; declared right after my class declaration (therefore available to each function in the class). How do I go about tweening this value with Tweener? Specifically, I'm trying to do it in a mouse press event but am stumped by the object i need to pass - the keyword "this" isn't working.

I am using shared object to share data between two users. First user connect to shared object and set some value in shared object. Please consider that second user has not connected with the shared object yet.Now when second user connects to the server and try to get that property set by first user, he could get shared object but could not get properties of Shared object set by first user. I observed few times that Second user can get these properties within "Sync" event between two users. But I would like to get these values for Second user in any stage (i.e. in load event etc.). Whenever Second user tries to get the property of Shared object, the object will reset the actual property value and then return reset value.
1) Is there any way to get all the properties of shared object before sync event called, as I want to get it immediately when second user connect to the application and perform next task based on the values stored in shared object.
2) Is it possible for second user to check whether any property has been set by first user? So that second user can use the property instead of reset it.

i been trying to figure out a way to make sure my property values from my xml file are fitting sweetly into my classes.
using 'property is XClassType' pretty much tells me if its an array, boolean, number. But strings are a bit weird. Even though the property is declared public var some:String the below test doesn't trigger it being set to a String. Are Strings different than Boolean, Array, Number, etc.?

i am trying to change the position while the yoyo is working but the tween object goes to the new position and then back to the old position and continuing to yoyo.

if there is a way to use the _rotation property with the Tweening class to make a movie clip continually to rotate from it's current position instead of starting back at the original position and doing the same rotation again.
I'm trying to make an movie object rotate 90 degrees by clicking on a button and then when you click the button again, the movie rotates 90 more degrees. I don't want it to start over and do that same 90 degree rotation with the Tween class.

John Ulliman uses actionScript3 with Flash CS3 and I have Flash CS5 which is the main difference. It appears he uses a classic tween (from CS4 and CS5's perspective).I have a thumbnail which is created as a movie symbol and when I double click on the timeline I have a tween of zero saturation (frame 1) to 100% saturation (frame 10) back to zero saturation frame 20. When I scrub the timeline the classic tween fades up and down correctly. But when I trigger the rollover (and rollout) event from the main timeline which should goto the movie instance called mThumb0.gotoAndPlay(2) starting at frame 2 for ROLL_OVER and Thumb0.gotoAndPlay(11) for the ROLL_OUT event it seems to only change the saturation a little but not touch the saturation filter.
I don't know if there is something about the different tweens (Classic and Motion) that I need to know. I don't know what the sync checkmark does but I tried it on and off with no help. I put trace statements that indicate the ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OUT events are being triggered and the functions the events trigger are being called correctly but I don't know how to debug what is happening with the timeline after the mThumb0.gotoAndPlay occurs.

I need to "tween" an object like in tweenlite, just x/y values, but have ran into a large issue.

it's kind of accurate at high 'refresh times', but low ones, or long tweens it's very inaccurate. Basically, it needs to move 300pixels/1000ms, I chose to move it every 10ms, the amount I move it is 3000/1000(ms/pixels)*ms=3pixels every 10ms, so we should get to 300pixels moved over in 1000ms. But it doesn't work- the time intervals aren't consistant, sometimes it moves it after 10ms, sometimes it doesn't catch it to move again for 30ms! Tweenlite is able to bypass it's loop being able to run every 10ms, but how?

I am having problems with a scrollbar tween on my site. I have tested the site ([URL]) on many browsers, and it tends to work fine. But, on a Firefox browser, I think with a new version of flash player, and also when I run the Debug on Flash, I get this occasional error:

This tends to happen if the user clicks on the scrollbar button, begins moving the scroller, and then, without clicking back on the scrollbar button to stop it, the user presses on a button on the left navigation. I think I understand what the error is telling me, that it can't complete a function for things that are not yet on the stage. But I am not sure how to fix the code regarding the Tween to get around this. Would anyone be willing to look over my files if I sent them? Here is the Tween code I am using:

I've gotten these sliders to work but can't get the output values to add up. For instance, depending on the values for slider 1, 2 and 3, I need the total to show up in a separate text box. I keep getting a NaN message in the text box.Here's the code I have so far:

I'm a total novice and I think I can't find an answer to this question because it is so basic. There are all kinds of tutorials on FLVPlayback, streaming video from a URL, etc.,but nothing I can find on how to make it play nice with the rest of the flash animation in my .swf. I assume this is a matter of simple actionscript (AS3), but my ignorance is profound.
So . . . I've got a flash animation that leads into a gotoAndPlay button, which references the frame where my video starts. The video, streaming from my url, plays fine, but if it takes a moment to buffer, the main timeline in my .swf just continues on through the frames I've created for the length of the video. Since my intention is to have the video finish and loop back to the intro. animation, ending with the play button displaying again, what happens is that it loops before the video is done playing, leaving the audio still streaming but the viewer staring at the play button. In other words, if there is no lag time for buffering, the number of frames before it loops is enough for the whole video. If it lags for buffering, it cuts off part of my video, prematurely looping to the intro.

I have an animation and sound running along the timeline. And step forward and step back buttons. The sound is set to stream to keep the animation and sound in sync with each other. This works fine when played from the start all the way to the end. But if the step forward or step back button is pressed, the animation will fall around 5-10 fames out of sync with the sound. And will remain like this until the end.
How can this be fixed so the sound and aniamtion won't fall out of sync.

Ive tried converting the SharedObject tutorial [url...] provided by Adobe from AS2 to AS3. When one client moves the ball, the other client should be able to see the ball moving on another swf, and vice versa.The AS2 one worked fine with my flash media server 3.5 and wampp server on. When I tried the AS3 one, the sharedObject cannot sync, even though the connection was successful and the sharedObject "position" was created in the server.[code]...

I've got my head around bones now, which isn't too bad once you get used to it. I have ten minutes of dialog which I have created mouth movements for in Lipsync MX, these are imported as a swf and then placed within my character's Head MovieClip.
Problem is, IK insists on using MovieClips instead of graphics. This means that the lip sync doesn't stay in touch with the main timeline - it only stays in sync until the main timeline is paused or jumps to a different point.
Is there an established method which allows you to embed a lip sync symbol within part of an armature and ensure it keeps pace with the main timeline, or am I going to have to code it somehow?

I have made an animation. I have a layer where I put sounds that execute on certain frames. No script are involved. When I play the movie inside Flash, everything looks good and sounds are syncing. When I make a preview of the movie, some of the sounds are out of sync. I have no idea why, it's the first time I get this kind of problem. All sounds are set to event, but I have tried with stream as well and get the same result.

improve the synchronized playback of NetStream video (flv) with a seperate Sound object (mp3)? Basically I am making a music video mashup tool and this is just a small part of it.I need to have one single mp3 playing continuously (the main song) and a NetStream object to play various videos at intervals set by a timer. This all works fine, except that the video gets out of sync after a while.This could be a delay caused by the NetStream.seek method that starts playback of the video a bit too late but I'm not sure.My current code...

I have a sound in my flash movie and I'm trying to lip sync to it but for some reason when I try to move that red thing across the frames to play the sound across it so I can go to each syllable so I can work the lips to it. But when I run the red thing across the frames there is no sound going through the speakers. When I ctrl-enter and play the swf I hear the sound what should I do?
