At the beginning of the Byte Array alters the Encoding.How ever the resulting String using the toString method still creates escape characters.I am trying to write the byteArray to another AS3 file to be compiled later.
I need to write a ByteArray to a file on local disk with Flash AS3. The flashapplication is run locally (it's a projector exe).
I found the FileReference class with the save() function which works perfect. The only problem is, that this function opens a filebrowser and let's the user select where to store the file. However - i have the path already as string and need to save to this location without useraction (since i'm exporting a lot of files into this directory in one go and don't want the user to choose each one manually).
Is there a way to store a bytearray from a projector to local disk without opening a filebrowser?
I'm also using mdm Zinc, which actually provides a function to save a ByteArray to disk, but this function is for some unknown reasons not working. I already filed a bugreport, but I need to get this to work very urgently, so i'm looking for alternatives!

and tried to load it into a AS2 swf I have compiled using Flash CS4. But that just didn't work. I don't get any errors when loading and the AS2 swf can load any swf, either compiled in AS2 or AS3 by Flash.
Does anyone know why a dynamic text box does not appear when a file is compiled?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to compile an SWC file and everything works great until the part where it needs to add components, none of them added added to the .swc file at all.
The original file should be somewhere around 211 KB and when i compile it its only 1.64 KB, after unpacking the .swc and then the .swf inside it i can see that there is no components added at all.
BTW some components showing some errors but i dont think its a reason to not include ALL the components because the errors are like:

I've built a form in Flex. When I run the flex project, I get a html file with some js, css and swf files (NOT A SINGLE FILE), swz files. When I run the main swf file alone, many things are working perfectly except at places where it needs to send a HTTPService request. When I use the html file, all works fine.

I have one swf file, it is JW Player plugin. It have one actionscript file in which is whole plugin code, and rest of files are jwplayer api files. So i need to open that file (where whole plugin code is) and edit few lines. But there is a problem, because when i try to decompile file with sothink swf decompiler (and few others) - to convert it to .FLA, decompiles simply crashes. It is because of some file from jwplayer api library. So, next thing i tried is to edit via HEX (because there is not much to be edited), but i couldn't find what i needed. So what i need is - is there any way or not? If yes, which program can be used for this?

View 1 RepliesI am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file.When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main.Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.

I am dynamically loading external SWFs in a Main Fla in response to clicks on a menu.
The loading code is standard and works fine for all of the SWFs except one. When I try to load it I get the following error: Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
I am certain that the URL to the problem SWF is correct. The SWF itself doesn't load any other SWFs or images. The problem SWF is linked to an external class file and compiled with it. i.e. in the properties panel of the main timeline of the problem SWF's Fla I have entered the path to the external class.
1. there is no problem compiling this SWF with the class (it works fine by itself)2. if I remove the external class from the properties panel and don't use it the resulting SWF imports without a problem into the Main Fla mentioned before So the problem seems to be the fact that the external class is linked in the properties panel. Is this a path problem?
I am working on a game, made with Flash (using AS3) The game has a fast ball and when this ball hits an object it has to make a sound... but the sound starts with delay (so the ball is far away when the sound is played).This sound is edited by me and it hasn't got any silences at the beginning.The method i'm currently using is the simplest one:

how to convert a file I have on my server (pdf/excel/ppt) to a ByteArray. The reason I want to do this is to display the dialogue open/save as to the user and I must set the Content-Type to octet-stream. The dialogue shows fine with just navigateToURL() but for pdf's it is the user's local browser setting. For a URLRequest I must set the data as a ByteArray. I'm trying to use the code located here:

View 7 RepliesI m trying to write AS3 to take a screenshot of a MC thats on the stage and pass the data to a .cfc method which saves it as a jpg on the server.The current code I have kind of works except the jpg is unreadable.I think it has something to do with not using Flex, AMF, and writing binary files.When I look at the jpg via a hex viewer I think it doesnt have the right jpg header.The jpg begins with:c3 bf c3 98 c3 bf c3 a0 00 10 4a 46. But it does not work=( - gives me Error: Error #2030: End of file was encountered.
How to get a full bytearray from stream to use it as normal bytearray?
I have an Air application with remote service in codeigniter.I'm trying to save a bytearray that I received from the Air app but when I save the data I get empty files with the correct filename.So there must be something wrong with my bytearray or the way I save the data.Does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?I've debugged the Arraycollection I sent and the bytearray is definitely in there.

View 2 RepliesI want to open a pdf/excel/doc using flex, as all know we can use navigateToUrl(URL) method to open a file from the server. But my problem is those files are encrypted in the server, so I load the files as follows

I'm having this problem with sending data to back-end party. So what I'm trying to do is to send hexadecimal data to a back-end party.It is binary data that's converted to hexadecimal in order to attach an image to an e-mail.The bottom code is the image that has bin created, how ever my code works when i DON'Tadd this code to it (d.addChild(mSiloDrawing.getDrawing()); it returns a movieclip see code) when I do add this code it givesme an end of file error.
