Actionscript 2.0 :: Creating Buttons And Content Dynamically?

i'm developing a website for my client. Here is the test version [URL] will look like this:[URL]There will be a menu created dynamically from a XML file, after clicking a menu button a MovieClip with a photo and category description will show up.After clicking the button "View more" the MovieClip with description will be removed and MovieClips with category products will show up through a for-loop on XML products nodes from this category.
The XML will look like this:

I can create the navigation menu, and maybe i will manage to create first MovieClip with the category photo and description but i don't have how to create those next MovieClips with products desciption after clicking the button "View more".

My interest is in creating a row buttons that are dynamically generated and placed as determined by xml content (number of buttons that is). The buttons are multiple instances of the same clip (attached) that contain textfields which display numbers (ie. 01, 02, ...20). The number of buttons generated shall be capped to a max of 20. I want to make a site for my personal gallery and i'm asking you if there is another method to make my gallery, other that the one when the user click Back and Next to navigate through thhe images in the order that i chose. I want to create some buttons dynamically (so i will be able to add images to the gallery without replacing the SWF) and assign each of these buttons an on(release) or on(press) event handler that will show the image for that button

I'm using Flash CS3, Actionscript 2.0 and I'm trying to create buttons dynamically.I tried to follow the code in the link below. The code is correct for the most part but the only problem I have is that only the last button appears. For example, if I try to create 10 buttons, only the 10th button is created.

So I have this loop generating buttons based upon how many entries there are in my XML:

Now I'm just wondering what the best way of assigning control to the buttons is (i.e. making them do something,). I'm wanting each created button to load a different image (defined in the xml) if that's of any use.
Do I need to add event listeners dynamically or something?

I've been trolling through the forum and I've seen similar instances however I can't seem to get my head around how to make scripting work;What I'm trying to make is similar to an interface where users can input data into a list (myArray) should they need to remove information they can click the corresponding button to remove it, the current code is repositioning a button that's already on the field as opposed to creating a duplicate from the library

I've created an XML calendar (with code from an example I found online) and now I want to add some additional functionality to it. Here's what it currently looks like:When the user clicks on a day with events, they are listed to the right of the calendar. I want the user to be able to click on an event in the list and have that load the details, including an image and colored category bar into the Details pane on the right. The reference to the image and category w/ corresponding color bar will be defined in the XML file along witht the details.Here is the current code for displaying the events:

Now I've dynamically created some buttons using XML. They're spread around the stage and I've modified a tooltip script to give each button a tooltip on Mouse_Over. But to se the logic and make it work using AS3 is hard (for me). I want a function that accept to parameters: Tooltip text and Object to tooltip. In my code I get this error msg when initiating the function on dynamically created buttons: 1118: Implicit coercion of a value with static type flash.display:Sprite to a possibly unrelated type flash.display:MovieClip. I beleive there are more than one thing here needing a fix.

I am creating a web site that will use XML to load content - a sort of video gallery.I plan to make scrolling movie clip for navigation containing instances of the single clip - "movie", which contains thumbnail, title and link, and I plan to use duplicateMovieClip to create as many MCs in navigation as needed.
But I have the following problem:I made a single MC - "movie" that takes the title, description and link from XML.I take the lenght of the XML nodes and duplicate the movie clip through the following code, where the variable j is the required number of MCs:

Every of the movies get the same value of the k.Is there a way to pass the exact value to each of the MCs?

I have to create dynamic content based on content uploaded to site and I need to know best tools for this.In a nutshell. User uploads images. Images embeded into existing video and animated. New video produced for download So far I have looked at Flash Media Server, Flex etc but not sure what the best tool is for the server side production of content. I know I can produce the custom MXML and AS files based on content uploaded and using the Flex SDK I can render these into a SWF. What I don't know is if There are limiatations to this in the context of what I want to achieve For instance can a product like Flash Media Server do something similar.Transcoding is also required hence the interest in FMS.

The website has 5 main-menu items called : Home / Speellijst / Van toen tot nu / media / contact / . a preview of the project can be visited here : [URL]
So when someone clicks "Van toen tot nu" (= an item about her past theatre plays), it displays a new menu that holds chronological buttons. Once someone cliks one of those, an extra element should show that displays info.
So in the element holding all the buttons on frame one AS says:

EXTA INFO:
* the 1st button has the instance name : 'robbieknop'
* a clip that holds the info on each frame seperatly has the name : 'toenclip'
* 'toenclip' has an empty 1st frame, the 2nd holds the info that should display while pushing the instance 'robbieknop'
* 'toenclip' is present on stage when 'van Toen tot nu' has been loaded, it is invisible (empty frame)
So far I can't get it to work, I don't get any error messages and everything else displays 'according to plan'

I've been doing Flash for couple of months and I love it. I can easily use a rectangle tool to draw a rectangle and do shape/motion tweening within seconds.
Lots of people are talking about HTML5 vs Flash nowadays and I took a look on HTML5 Canvas today. To my surprised, I see whole bunch of "code". It's so complicated, they need to make a lot of calls (fill, stroke, moveto, closepath etc...) to make a simple shape. And even dozens lines of code mixing with javascript to do a simple movement???
Am I missing something? It'll make animation 10x more complicated with HTML5 Canvas than Flash.

little stuck on a project, need as much help as possible. I am creating a building directory for a touch screen kiosk app. this kiosk will have a virtual keyboard that i have created with an input text field, which hopefully will search a single file on the server that controls these kiosks. Then display the search results in a dynamic text field. What i would like to do is create a swf that my employer may enter there own information such as thier name, title, department, suite, and some comments... then click some sort of button that will save the information on the server... then on the kiosk end the user can type in a name, department, suite number to have the data display on the kiosk. i am using cs3/as3. i have created the virtual keyboard, and the data entry app that allows my employer to save data to the server, but for the life of me, i cannot, get my kiosk end to retrieve the data.

i am trying to dynamically load some content using actionscript into my movie but i already have content on standard layers within the movie. so everytime i start the movie and the dynamic content is loaded it loads it all on top of the content already displayed on the normal layers and i want it to load underneath the content that i have already put there myself.
for example, i have made my menu using flash and have it on a layer in the main MC, when the movie loads it loads the following script which loads the content pages of the site. but it loads it ontop of the menu therefore you cannot see the menu to view different content as it is being covered by the content pages. i would like it to load below the menu so that you can see the menu and choose what content you are to view.
this is the code i use to load the content:

I have an XML file with a list of photos. I have loaded the XML file into Flash (CS3 / AS 3.0) and I am iterating through the list to load the photos. The problem is only the last photo displays. I would like to

After trying to no avail to get the totalframes of a dynamically loaded .swf in AS3 I've regressed to AS2.
Now I can add the clip and get the totalframes of the content, no problem.
THe problem is I cannot resize the content at all.I have no idea how to target the loaded content.
Here's the code I'm using:

-Place small boxes on my stage in the form of an org chart using only actionscript. These boxes will also need dynamically loaded titles vi XML. I will need the option to hide boxes that are not being used. (about 26 boxes)-I then want to be able to roll over each individual box and read a pop-up with dynamically loaded XML content.Can I do this utilizing only AS and XML?

I have BitmapData (in short 'bmp') which I use to compare pixels between two, same pictures. When I find my thing, then I load next picture into BitmapData and compare again but here is my problem. Loading picture into bmp only works when I click button which lead to function like that:

doesn't load image. Only thing that works is to use Spark Image component (with already specified source to file) and get picture from it.

I set up empty movie clip containers to hold my external .swf files when i load them in. I have 9 different external files that all load correctly. My issue is that when people view my website and cache the files after dynamically loading them, my changes that i make and upload dont take effect because their computers just pull the cached files from the last time they viewed it. This is critical for my site to work because of the amount of text updating and news that i do on it.

In the attached (Flash MX 2004 professional) .fla you'll find a reasonably basic scroller that i can't get to work properly. The advanced part of it is that the content of the MC clip that is to be scrolled up and down is filled dynamically based on the number of items it needs to display. In this demo the number is set but this will eventually be data from an XML file. the trouble is that altough the MC scrolls one screen at a time (using setinterval and an easing function) it loses track of the correct start and end positions after one or two screens. Please take a look and see what the trouble could be. Don't mind the design (there isn't any) it's just a test of the functionality. This little code snippet shows how i did the down button for instance:
