Actionscript 3.0 :: Accessing A MovieClip Inside A Loaded Movie?

I'm running into an error accessing a movieclip from a loaded swf. Inside of my loadedMovie.swf file, I have a movie with the instance name of "bg". I want to change the width of that to movie clip when it is loaded into the parent movie but I'm getting an error saying "Access of possibly undefined property bg through a reference with static type flash.display:Loader."

I am trying to access a button inside an external swf file that I loaded. Problem is every time I try to access this button I get an error saying that it's null!
Here is my code:

Now this should work, code-wise I think its correct. The problem is that loader cant find the required button. There is indeed a button in the loaded movieClip with an instance name of "button", I double checked that.

I made a script that creates a MovieClip (two stationary Ovals, side by side) from the library and transports them from the left side of the stage to the right.The idea would be to make the RIGHT Oval decrease in size as the MovieClip is traveling while keeping the LEFT Oval the same size. (All of them being part of an Array)I thought to convert the right Oval to a MovieClip within the parent MovieClip, but I have not been able to access the ".width" and ".height" of the nested MovieClip.Not sure whether I'm on the right track or not.

I need to disable some buttons in a movie in level0. I manage to do that. but the thing is i have some other buttons inside a movieclip and i can't disable them... what should i do? how can i acess the buttons inside the movieclip to disable them? the code i'm using for the buttons in level0 is:

I have a MC that is too tall for my stage and want to place it inside a ScrollPane. The probelm is accessing functions inside the MC. I have tried scrollpane.content.mc.function but that doesn't work. How do you access a mc inside tghe scrollpane?

how to build a button inside a movieclip. I have a template that has movieclips within movieclips, and when I create a button (all using AS2) the button will work if I test the scene, but in the whole flash movie it does not work. I also have some buttons located inside a ScrollPane that also do not call correctly.

I want to dynamically load the graphic of the button into an mc inside each frame of the button (up and over). Inside each frame I have a movie clip (canvas and canvas_over). The green box is the button object (header_btn):

I have a movieclip with 10 bitmaps in it. I wanna access each of them.
myMovieClip is the movieclip containing those 10 bitmaps. I wanna access those bitmaps one by one. All 10 bitmaps are imported separately. I tried this :
for ( var i =0 ; i< myMovieClip.numChildren ; i++)

trace ( myMovieClip.getChildAt(i) );
}
Problem is numChildren comes "1" only, as if it doesnot consider those 10 pieces of bitmap.

I want to create a menu which is a mc on the mainStage, not inside anything. The menu itself has element inside it, so something like this mainStage»navMenu»navMenuClose. I want the action script on the mainStage, but it does not recognize the button navMenuClose. I want the actionscript on the mainStage because I also want the menu to hide after each function, just for navigation. (The close is incase you changed your mind) If I have the script inside the navMenu it does not recognize the menu, so I cannot hide it from there.

I have a movieclip that gets loaded into another container. The movieclip reads the mouse x & y position to resize a circle according to the mouse position - it works fine on its own, but when the movieclip is loaded into a container I think the actionscript is reading the container's x & y, not from the mc itself.
The code I'm using to read the mouse x & y is:
d = Math.sqrt(Math.abs(_root._xmouse-this._x)*Math.abs(_root._xmouse-this ._x)+Math.abs(_root._ymouse-this._y)*Math.abs(_root._ymouse-this._y));
It works out the distance of the mouse from the central point (centre of the circle movieclip.)
Like I say, it works fine on its own, but when in another container the _root is causing the x & y to be displaced.I've tried _lockroot, but that stops other stuff working properly in the movieclip (drag and drop.) Is there another way I can directly access the x & y properties of the main movieclip without using _root?

I need help applying the color transform function to a movie clip that exists inside of a button. I want to keep the button a button (as opposed to making it a movie clip as well with onclick and hover handlers) as I already have behaviors built into it and would rather not recreate it. I am loading a swf file(As2.0) into my As3.0 application. The loading rocess works fine. I want to know how i can acces a button in the loaded swf through my as3.0 program. I'm trying to access a variable from my main movie in a loaded movie. I can't get it to work however. The movie loads into the main movie but I can't access anything from that main movie. I see that there a few write ups out there about this, but I just can't get it. I attached a zip as well as the source below.

I am having this problem with actionscript 2:
I have a class that instantiates a movieclip from the library, eg: myBar:MovieClip = level0.AttachMovie("debugbar", "debugbar_mc", 999);
myBar is an instance variable in the class.
Now the important part - debugbar in the library is a movieclip that contains some components - buttons and textInputs. The problem comes when trying to access these components.
I would have thought that this would work: myBar.input_txt.text = "hello";
in order to set the text of "input_txt", the instance name of a TextInput component on the timeline of the movie clip (frame 1 of a 1 frame mc).
This does not work. Infact, I cannot access any specific "component" properties - they come back undefined. I cannot added event handlers for the component events either.
I can however set and retrieve MovieClip properties for the "input_txt", such as _x. However there is one added strange thing with this too - setting _visible to false doesn't seem to work (however perhaps a component by default overrides this).
I tried casting it to a component, such as:
var temp:TextInput = TextInput(myBar.input_txt);
trace(temp);
which gave "temp" as null. Without casting, it gives the path to correctly.
It almost seems like the components are somehow broken when trying to access them this way - or that they cannot be accessed this way?
The thing is, I was able to access all of this before, when the code to do it was placed on the timeline (frame 1, the only frame) of the debugbar itself, where the components were placed at authortime.
I need to have it in a class though, as I need to pass in certain objects that need to be accessed by the mc. I am rather baffled as to why all this doesn't work.

- I have A.fla.
- A.fla includes buttons, movie clips and also B.swf is loaded in A.fla using a LOADER
- i want to access elements in A.fla, from the actionscript codes inside B.fla to modify those movie clips and buttons based on actions going on in B.swf
for instance, lets say there is a button X in A.fla, and there is a button Y in B.fla, B.swf is loaded into A.fla, and I want the button Y to erase button X when clicked.

I am building an interface that loads swfs externally into an array(pre-loader) my code places these swfs into a container movie clip on stage when called.I am trying to access the swf that is now a child of the movie clip so i can rewind, pause, and play the swf.Currently they are loading in just fine, but my code isn't able to touch the swf. The swfs also play all the way through when they are loaded so when i change to the next one of the sequence my swf is already at its end frame.

I'm writing a card game in AS3. The artist I'm working with has produced (in Flash CS4) a single swf-file containing all the card graphics and animations. The structure of the fla working file looks something like this:
- Scene
- CardGraphics (Movie Clip)
- CardFront
- CardBack
- CardValueImage (Movie Clip)
In the program I create 52 instances of my Card class, each having a MovieClip instance created from the loaded swf. The idea is to set the frame of the CardValueImage MovieClip to correspond to the Card instance's suit and rank member variables. However, I can't figure out how I access CardValueImage and call gotoAndStop (or whatever method I will need to call).

I'm working with several videos each inside their own movieclips. When I click my forward button to jump to the next video I get the second video playing over the first one especially towards the end part of the first video. I can play and stop the movies just fine but it's the gotoAndPlay that's causing me problems right now with forwarding and rewinding clips.

I've used MovieClipLoader to load a movieclip into my holder. Everything works out fine, the mc loads and it's all good. But then, inside the loaded mc I use attachMovie to attach a movieclip from the library of the holder. It won't attach, but it will attach if I re-create the specific mc in the loaded mc's library. Does anyone know how to get around this?
