Actionscript 3 :: Accessing Pieces Of Bitmaps Inside A Movieclip?

I have a movieclip with 10 bitmaps in it. I wanna access each of them.
myMovieClip is the movieclip containing those 10 bitmaps. I wanna access those bitmaps one by one. All 10 bitmaps are imported separately. I tried this :
for ( var i =0 ; i< myMovieClip.numChildren ; i++)
{
trace ( myMovieClip.getChildAt(i) );
}
Problem is numChildren comes "1" only, as if it doesnot consider those 10 pieces of bitmap.
I made a script that creates a MovieClip (two stationary Ovals, side by side) from the library and transports them from the left side of the stage to the right.The idea would be to make the RIGHT Oval decrease in size as the MovieClip is traveling while keeping the LEFT Oval the same size. (All of them being part of an Array)I thought to convert the right Oval to a MovieClip within the parent MovieClip, but I have not been able to access the ".width" and ".height" of the nested MovieClip.Not sure whether I'm on the right track or not.
I have recently designed a children's educational game that is completed, however; it is a puzzle and the puzzle pieces can be dropped on top of each other and they hide behind eachother which I do not want to happen. I would like the game pieces to automatically get pushed off to the side of the other puzzle pieces that are in use...not stacked on top of each other. The game is complete except for this one problem.
I've loaded a external swf, what i want to do is interact with the movieclips inside of that swf.For example there's a box in the external swf, ... I want to add a motion tween to it when I click on a button on the container swf, so that the box pop's in on the stage.
I need to disable some buttons in a movie in level0. I manage to do that. but the thing is i have some other buttons inside a movieclip and i can't disable them... what should i do? how can i acess the buttons inside the movieclip to disable them? the code i'm using for the buttons in level0 is:

and for acessing the buttons inside MyMovieClip...?
I have a MC that is too tall for my stage and want to place it inside a ScrollPane. The probelm is accessing functions inside the MC. I have tried scrollpane.content.mc.function but that doesn't work. How do you access a mc inside tghe scrollpane?

I want to dynamically load the graphic of the button into an mc inside each frame of the button (up and over). Inside each frame I have a movie clip (canvas and canvas_over). The green box is the button object (header_btn):

I'm running into an error accessing a movieclip from a loaded swf. Inside of my loadedMovie.swf file, I have a movie with the instance name of "bg". I want to change the width of that to movie clip when it is loaded into the parent movie but I'm getting an error saying "Access of possibly undefined property bg through a reference with static type flash.display:Loader."

I'm having trouble accessing some components that reside inside of a movieclip that i'm displaying inside of a window component through the PopUpManager:
how can i access any components that exist within the linked movie clip in my library? i have two labels that I want to update but can't figure out for the life of me how...
I have an overlay that I pull up in response to a button click. This overlay is dynamically populated by a TextField, a MovieClip, and a Bitmap. I used to add them to the overlay with addChild() and induce a index out of bounds error to make them go away (I was in a hurry and I don't think I'm using removeChild() right). Well, I decided to do it better and dynamically change the object inside the holding variable. However... the Bitmap is gone. It won't appear. The overlay puller function takes a data-holding class I made and the picture is a BitmapData object.
I can't use the line new Bitmap(picture) because it doesn't work; that makes nothing appear. So, I guess my question is can I store a line of text in a variable and then use that variable as code? Like... Could I have something like this and get an image as an output? I imagine it could be done with XML, but is there another way? I tried storing the constructor in a variable and calling it with object.constructor, but I don't know if I was using it right and it didn't work.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to compare a single bitmap against perhaps an array of saved bitmaps to see how close of a match it may be to any one of the bitmaps stored in the array. Right now I'm running a for loop that uses the bitmapData.compare() method to try to compare to see how much of a variance there is but... to be honest I'm at a loss as to how to use the resulting data to do so. Does anyone know of any good method to accomplish what I am trying to do? Forget looking at my code it's a waste of time because simply, it's not working.
I have a bunch of Bitmaps stored in the library and I want to display some of them on the stage via actionscript. All I need is to attach each of them to a MovieClip and use addChild() on the stage. Also I want to be able change the attached bitmaps dynamically.
I'm trying to convert the frames of a MovieClip (mc) --which are vector graphics-- to Bitmaps in order to improve performance.
The Logic is simple: During the first time play of the mc on every frame I convert the vector display of the mc to BitmapData with their appropriate transformation applied and store these BitmapData instances in an Object with the frame number as the key. I use these BitmapData instances to create Bitmap instances and use them in place of the actual mc during the successive play.
Everything works fine except that there is a random but small position error for the created Bitmap instances so it looks like its vibrating in its place. I have no idea what is causing this.
I have attached the Flash Builder 4 AS project for anyone who wants to look at the code. The swf file can be found in the 'bin-debug' folder when extracted.
Running into an issue where the if I add a Bitmap image into a movieclip the bitmap will appear slightly Blurry.When I add the Bitmap directly to the scene it appears normal. Is their a property for a movieclip that would explain this behavior? or is their some other solution to keep bitmaps from becoming blurred?
But I have a serious problem. Someone has to help me before I lose my mind. That's the project I've sent before. I've just returned from holiday and I'm stuck in focusing between mc's. My .fla file is included. I want my app to jump to the next movie clip after entering a letter to the current one. But there I have the problem : accessing mc inside mc. You'll see the details on the .fla file.[URL]..
but how can i access the parent DataGrid or anything outside of this class ?In Java it can be done, but how can i pass any value to this class. My use case is that i click on a delete button and the row is deleted, impossible to do if i cannot access the parent DataGrid and call methods to work with it.
In my game currently I have a series of UILoaders which can be set to load a specific swf file inside the larger one. What Im trying to do is manipulate the 'child' swf file from the parent- in particular use the goToAndPlay() function. Im pretty sure Ive seen the solution before but I cant find it now.
How make the connection from the UILoader class to its contents as a movieClip?

I'm currently learning OOP through Sen's information here at Kirupa, and I've decided to try out his "creatures" exercise mentioned in his Best of Senocular thread...The situation is a random number of sprites are created, and they move around the stage, interacting. They all have a certain amount of "health," defined as a variable in a MovieClip prototype applied to the MC. When they hit, I want their health to go down a little bit, so how can I access a particular MC's "health" variable while I'm outside of the MC itself?
I am trying to use a new script that uses XML to dynamically create a menu on the stage. Within the XML, I am establishing a function to use with that button. One button may just link to something on the web while another will simple display/hide a specific movieclip on the stage. I also have another button that I need to use to show any hotspots on the stage. Originally, I had the code on the instance of a static button on the stage and used a loop to get the items on the stage. Now, though, I have this "generic" Object() with a function called showHot. I have been playing around with using _parent, but can't figure out how to get to the items on the stage. All my hotspot movieclips' names start with "hs", so if I can just figure out how to loop through the items on the stage, I can check the names of those items.
