Flash - Resize MovieClip On AS2 In Function Of Text Imported?
Jun 1, 2010
I have a AS2 script to get information from a MySQL database. This information is a text from 0 to 300 chars. I want to display that text in this layout: I want to resize the black box you see on the picture in function of the amount of text imported.
The instance name of the box is: cargador.fondo (only want to resize height)
The instance name of the text is: cargador.texto
I have a very simple flash program code in AS3, inside this program there is a dynamic textfield html capable. Also i have a database were i will put some information. Each element in the database can be linked to other. For example, this database will contain tourist spots, and they can be related with others in the same database. This interesting spot is near <link to="ramdo2">ramdom place2</link>. And so, so so..The information in the database is retrived by the flash application and it shows the text on the dynamic textfield. I need somehow to tell my flash application that have to be a link to other part of the database, so when the user click the link a function in flash call this new data. The database is a simple Mysql server, and the data is not yet in there, waiting for your suggestions of how to format it and develop the solution.Im a php developer too, so i can make a gateway in PHP to read the MySQL and then retrive some format to flash, an XML for example.
I have a htmlText field that is displaying xml content. One of the features I've written imports a swf and displays it in the htmlText field via an <img src> tag. The swf displays some text that is stripped out of the htmlText field when my as3 code finds [Boxed Text]Strip out this content [End Boxed Text]. The result would display 'Strip out this content" in the swf within the <img src> tag. This works great, as the swf has the dimensions of w.300 x h. 250, but I have received a request to resize the swf based off the length/height of the 'Strip out this content" text. I can resize the textbox in the swf via [boxedText.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;], however, when I do that, the stage size of the swf within the <img src> remains at a fixed 250 height, and as much as I try, I can not find a way to resize the stage. I am under the impression that there is only one main stage, and trying to change the size of a secondary stage within an imported swf is not possible, but then again, I'm also under the impression that anything is possible in flash.
I fought with the IDE and read around all day enough to learn that in AS3, the exported class name of a lib symbol matters.I have hello.fla. In it I created a simple textfield with a string ('hello') - coverted it to a symbol (movieclip) and did the following:
made the classname 'Hello'. Export for AS is checked Export in first frame is checked.
Once i did all that i nuked the instance on the stage. I thought I might add some extra functionality later so I actually also built a Hello.as class, which extends MovieClip, and which lives in the default pkg* and the whole fla builds fine:
I have a movie where a variable named daysleft will be loaded from an external text file into a dynamic text box, this bit works fine. But I then need the movieclip "numbers" to gotoAndStop to the frame number imported via the variable daysleft. Although daysleft displays on the screen a trace(daysleft); says the variable is undefined.
I'm trying to see if there's a way to change the registration point of a MovieClip that's importing an image dynamically? Here is my code where I add an image to an "overlayHolder":
What I need to do is rotate this image later on, upon interaction from someone, but need it to rotate with a center-registration.I've seen a bunch of tutorials/forums talk about centering a registration point when you're drawing a Sprite on the stage, but not when you're importing an image.
I cant believe that Flash will let you load data from a text file then doesn't allow you to do anything with the data other than display it. Surely there must be a way you can do something the data imported ie perform some calculations. Is this beyond Flash or is this something that has been addressed in AS3? All the tutorials I've found all stop at just displaying and 'swonking'.
I've written a simple MovieClip replacement that converts an existing imported MovieClip to a sequence of BitmapData. This removes the requirement for Flash to render vector data in the MovieClip on each frame.
But BitmapData has a huge memory footprint. I've tried converting the BitmapData to a ByteArray and using the compress() method. This results in a significantly smaller memory footprint. But it has proven impractical. For each redraw, I tried uncompressing()'ing the ByteArray, then using SetPixels to blit the data to the screen, then re-compressing() the frame. This works but is terribly slow.
So I was wondering if anybody else has an approach I could try. In Flash, is it possible to compress bitmap data in memory and quickly blit it to the screen?
I wonder how native animated GIFs work in Flash. Does it uncompress them to BitmapData behind the scenes, or is frame decompression done on the fly?

how can i make a movieclip and a textfield to resize to the content of the text in the textfield? I mean, if I have a textfield with 3 letters font name XXX and then the content of the field change, how can i resize te textfield so the text dont autoadjust to the 3 letter space?
mainClass.as package { import mfClass.CarSelector; import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.Event; public class MainClass extends MovieClip { [Code] .....
Now, when I run this in flash. I get this message.. in output. TypeError: Error #1006: sel_Fun is not a function. at MainClass/show_selector() at MainClass()
I have been looking for a way to create an effect like this in Actionscript 2.0.Like thisThe application above is in AS3 and I am trying to create that effect in AS2!anyone knows how we can achieve that so the users can re-size the images via handles around the images inside the flash? or maybe re-size a movie clip with handles like that?
I have a movie clip object with a width of 306 and height of 194. I need to change the dimensions of the movie clip and still have the x and y scale set at 100. Currently when I change the movie clip width to 352.8, the x scale increases to 115.3%. I have to have the scale reset to 100% after I've adjusted the movie clip's width. Is there a way to do this in CS3? (this is all in design mode, not run time). Do I need to delete the movie clip and recreate it?
I creating a flash gallery(using flash first time) and found one problem. When i resize movieclip(container) it resize its children, so i could't resize them manualy to dimensions what i need. How i can disable resizing of children of movieclip?
I've got a main.fla which has a main.as file included within various functions in the fla. Then I have external.swf being called in, which have external.as files that need to call on a function within the main.as file.Ultimately, the "next" button is supposed to be unclickable until the external swf has completed, then it glows and lets you click then turns off again. Problem is, as it stands the "next" button never turns on because function's not being properly called. Here's the code, trimmed down to the essentials.know what I'm doing wrong here.main.fla
Code: function external1(e:MouseEvent) { gotoAndStop("external1");
I imported a swf created in After Effects to Flash CS3 to make it interactive. Flash broke the "swf" movie into a number of keyframes (apprx 65 keyframes) which when previewed, plays all the keyframes one by one. I want it to stop at first keyframe and have a button over there, which when clicked will let the next 30 keyframes run without stopping. Then stop at the 30th keyframe which will have another button to be clicked to proceed to the the next 34 keyframes without stop. I have been trying the stop(), and gotoAndPlay nextFrame, but it stops at the next frame. One more thing, do I need to convert all the imported keyframes to graphic or movieclip ?
1- I imported an flv video file with "file->import->import video" and then put the object on the stage on a precise frame ( 71 and 79 ). Around the object player I created a transparent button as wide as the stage (67-82) which clicked brings you to another frame(2).The problem is that this work is a site and if you click on the transparent button you see a frame with contents but the movieclip playing is still on and user still ear the music and experience the bandwidth slow down. What I want to do is something like: movieclipinstancename.stop(); to stop the movie playing.
2- I'm triyng to understand the best way to import or use a movieclip, using AS3.
I have a movie clip, imported by shared library, in my main stage. Everytime I try to put an instance in this movie clip I get this error ( the movie clip in the main file ): "1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MenuDG."
The main library have this: menuEsterno - name of the item imported by shared library. In its properties: Class: MenuDG; url: library.swf Source:. Library.fla Symbol Name: MenuDG In the library.fla the same item is configured as follows: instance: nivel1 The library: MenuDG - name of the item in the library In its properties; Class: MenuDG Base class: flash.display.MovieClip Export for ActionScript Export for runtime sharing Export in first frame; Url: library.swf Source: Symbol:
I'm working with Flash CS3; I am providing a link to see the files. [URL] Attachments: agencia.zip (2.8 MB)
I've posted this question before but no useful answer was found. People told me to use embedAsCFF=false, but I'm not embedding any font directly.
There is a textfield using "Impact" as font inside a movieclip. I exported the movieclip as an swc so that I would be able to use it's graphics in my Flashdevelop project. When I add the swc to the screen, everything is fine but the text. It doesn't appear.
