View 2 RepliesI'm pretty new to Flash and seem to be struggling with variable scope, events and where to put code within movieclips/main area etc. What I'm trying to do is produce a Flash movie that will allow the user to click on a tool from a selection, i.e. a circle, then click on another part of the screen to place the centre of the circle, with a second click to set the radius of the circle (an alternative would be a single click and drag to place the circle and drag it out to the desired radius.) Once the mouse if clicked a 2nd time, or the drag operation is completed, the circle will stay at the selected radius.
The code I'm using so far to test out the idea is below:
_root.onEnterFrame=function(){
_root["item1"].onMouseMove=function(){
d = Math.sqrt(Math.abs(_xmouse-this._x)*Math.abs(_xmouse-this._x)+Math.abs(_ymouse-this._y)*Math.abs(_ymouse-this._y));
if(d<370){
this._width = d*2;
this._height = d*2;
}else{
this._width = 87;
this._height = 87;
}}}
This uses a simple circle movieclip, and the above code is placed in Frame 1 of the background as opposed to the movieclip itself. It resizes the circle movieclip ok, but I want to be able to control the resize with the mouse or with a single click/drag.
I have been looking for a way to create an effect like this in Actionscript 2.0.Like thisThe application above is in AS3 and I am trying to create that effect in AS2!anyone knows how we can achieve that so the users can re-size the images via handles around the images inside the flash? or maybe re-size a movie clip with handles like that?
View 4 RepliesI am looking to add resize handles to a movieclip in flash AS3 so a user can click a corner and resize the movieclip.
View 1 RepliesI have a movie clip object with a width of 306 and height of 194. I need to change the dimensions of the movie clip and still have the x and y scale set at 100. Currently when I change the movie clip width to 352.8, the x scale increases to 115.3%. I have to have the scale reset to 100% after I've adjusted the movie clip's width. Is there a way to do this in CS3? (this is all in design mode, not run time). Do I need to delete the movie clip and recreate it?
View 2 RepliesI have a AS2 script to get information from a MySQL database. This information is a text from 0 to 300 chars. I want to display that text in this layout: I want to resize the black box you see on the picture in function of the amount of text imported.
The instance name of the box is: cargador.fondo (only want to resize height)
The instance name of the text is: cargador.texto
I creating a flash gallery(using flash first time) and found one problem. When i resize movieclip(container) it resize its children, so i could't resize them manualy to dimensions what i need. How i can disable resizing of children of movieclip?
View 4 Repliesknow how I can resize the stage to match the size of an external graphic/movieclip which is loaded into an empty movieclip,
View 3 RepliesI want to do this but in ActionScript 3.0 with an Image.URL...Basically, I am writing an app for the Blackberry Tablet and I want to know how I can allow the user to resize an Image with their mouse. Since the Image object is part of the qnx engine, specific to the blackberry, assume a MovieClip.
View 2 RepliesIs it possible to resize a movieclip without stretching the contents of the movieclip??? I'm having the most frustrating time trying to do this.
View 5 RepliesI want to do something very similar to the resizing effect on this website.

Basically if you resize the browser, it seems like it's programmed to only display/load/transition in the images once the user lets go of the mouse and the browser is done moving.
I would like to know if there is a Resize on mouse release event or a work around to do this. Currently my images keep refreshing every time you drag/resize the browser screen, before you let go of the mouse.
So basically while your dragging the browser window size to different size it keeps reloading and updating the images. I want it to reload and update the images once the user is done dragging and resizing the browser.
I have Buttons which I have rotated vertically within a Canvas, that is working fine. The problem occurs, when the user resizes the window to a small size a vertical scroll bar appears, I would rather have each button squashed upto a smaller size.
<mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" width="40" maxWidth="40" xmlns:myComponents="myComponents.*"
horizontalScrollPolicy="off"

I have a stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, resizeHandler); that I would like to perform the repositioning of the objects when the user stops resizing the browser window. I imagine I need to use a mouse move listener, but how do I check to see if the mouse has stopped moving in the resizeHandler?
View 1 RepliesIn a project i'm doing I have a custom cursor, using the start drag command and mouse.hide. the issue being that the movieclip being dragged is blocking the mouse from initiation mouse events properly.
View 3 Repliesi'm interesting to develop something special..one MC (Called = MainMC ) as a master, but when im put another MC inside of MainMC, the first one could resize himself width some padding, and center according the content.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to find a way to make a movie clip resize larger on mouse release, then resize back to the original size on a second mouse release. I have tried many ways to do this but seem to be unable to come up with a solution. I have been using mc Tween.

I am using Action Script 3.0 to animate an instance (MovieClip class) to follow the mouse positron the thing is, the left corner of the instance follows the mouse courser. Now there is a cross on the to left corner and my guess would be that the mouse follows that cross, but i can not change the position of the cross within the instance/ original object. Does anyone know how to make the center of that instance follow the mouse cursor?

View 2 RepliesEssentially what I'm trying to do is nearly the same as this: http:[url].......However I'd like to ease/tween the movieclip position and rotation to the mouse position.The main issue I see is trying to get the current movieclip rotation and the target rotation,then tween it cockwise or counterclockwise from current to target.The way a movieclips rotation uses positive and negative numbers throws it off.If you just want to lock the mc rotation to the mouse rotation its fine, but once you try to tween it you run into difficulties. So the end effect would be like if you were to draw imaginary clockwise circles around the object, it should just keep rotating clockwise towards the mouse. Then if you started going counter clockwise it should just keep easing counter clockwise to the mouse.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to build an application where the themouse cursor is used to "blow" a movieclip around. The way I'm doing this is by making the mouse cursor repel the movieclip. The problem is, I can only get it to work on the top and the left of the movieclip.
Here's my code:
function moveCloud(event:Event):void {
var yChange:Number = Math.round(mouseY-cloud.y);
var xChange:Number = Math.round(mouseX-cloud.x);

I'm developing a project in Actionscript 2.0. I have an image that pans. I followed this tutorial: [URL] Now I want the image to pan just when the mouse is hover some movieclip instead of the whole stage. When the mouse is hover of the left limit of the movieclip, the image pans to that limit. Like this one (except I don't want vertical panning): [URL]
View 1 RepliesI would like to constantly (with an interval) check if the mouse is inside a movieclip or not. I think this should be done with hitTest, but I'm not quite sure how to use it.
View 6 RepliesI created a MovieClip object and i load a image.But then I want to resize it. I tried _width and _height but it doesn't work.[code]...
View 3 RepliesI understand that this is something really, really basic, but for all my Googling I can't seem to find a clear answer.I have a movieClip with around 1500px of vertical content inside (a grid of images). But when I trace its height, it says it's only 400px high. I need it to actually report a height of 1500px, or it doesn't scroll properly.
View 4 RepliesI have a few swf's that are loaded into a base file using levels. These clips can be cycled through by means of a setInterval function or when the user clicks the next or previous button. However, when the user hovers over a defined 'hit' area which is ultimately a blank movie clip, the setTimeout call is then canceled. This works fine, except that now the 'hit' clip - being above everything - prevents the movies below accepting hit states, and if I move it to below everything else, when one mouses over any element in the loaded movie, it then acts as though the user has mouse out of the hit area.
Is there any way to have this 'hit' clip do its job simply by determining if the mouse is over it, but without using an onRollOver function or equivalent?
I need to move a movieclip based on mouse x position. Like this site [URL] - Which I built using a flashloaded app, but I need more control in this project so I'd like to code it without the app. Basically, I have an image of a boy (left) and a girl (right) and I want to move the boy slightly toward the girl when the mouse goes right and slightly away when the mouse goes left. But only about 25-50 pixels in each direction.
I've cobbled some code together from google searching and rough ideas, and it works in a way, but the boy jumps about 400 pixels to the left on the initial mouse move and then floats a bit too far right and left from there. Here's what I've got on the boyMC:

I have a movieclip that i want to resize to fit the stage and center it with a button click. Then resize back to it's original size and place with a second button.[code]...
View 6 RepliesI would like to dynamically resize and move a MovieClip (quare for example) by dragging either sides or dragging it by clicking anywhere else.I can drag the square around no problem...but would like to know how the sclaing can be done?
View 1 RepliesI am messing around to learn more about actionscript and I am trying to have a square movieclip resize itself so both sides are equal to 50 here is my code on the movieclip it does the resize and all but it keeps on going. I am not sure how to stop it.
