I want to do this but in ActionScript 3.0 with an Image.URL...Basically, I am writing an app for the Blackberry Tablet and I want to know how I can allow the user to resize an Image with their mouse. Since the Image object is part of the qnx engine, specific to the blackberry, assume a MovieClip.
I am working on image and i like to scale or resize the image by dragging and resize option.same working as "free transform tool" in flash (design part); i need same functionality in application.
Some images I load dynamically are too big so I would like to scale them to fit the stage.
[Code]...
this returns 0. Why does it return 0 when the image loaded is obviously much larger then 0 pixels. How do I change the width and height of imgCont to a specified dimension.
i am building an editor which allows you to resize images and to do this (once an image is selected) I add a visible border to the image that allows you to resize the image. so i want to have a function something like,
[Code]....
and i have to call this redrawborder function inside the MOUSE_MOVE listener that controls the resizing (so that i am constantly removing and redrawing the border). constantly removing and redrawing the frame seems very inefficient. is there some property or better why to do this? i want to have, displayobj.scaleChildren = false or something like that
I want to do something very similar to the resizing effect on this website.

Basically if you resize the browser, it seems like it's programmed to only display/load/transition in the images once the user lets go of the mouse and the browser is done moving.
I would like to know if there is a Resize on mouse release event or a work around to do this. Currently my images keep refreshing every time you drag/resize the browser screen, before you let go of the mouse.
So basically while your dragging the browser window size to different size it keeps reloading and updating the images. I want it to reload and update the images once the user is done dragging and resizing the browser.
I would like to make a flash movie with a picture, where when the user holds down the mouse button, part of another picture will emerge in that general area (like a magnifying glass looking into another dimension).
Technically, my idea was to make a flash file with two images, and then code the mouse to be able to make the top picture transparent in a circle-like area around the cursor, while the mouse button is down.
But how to do that? I am using Flash CS4, but I don't really care if the solution is in AS2, or AS3, as long as it works
I have a stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, resizeHandler); that I would like to perform the repositioning of the objects when the user stops resizing the browser window. I imagine I need to use a mouse move listener, but how do I check to see if the mouse has stopped moving in the resizeHandler?
I'm pretty new to Flash and seem to be struggling with variable scope, events and where to put code within movieclips/main area etc. What I'm trying to do is produce a Flash movie that will allow the user to click on a tool from a selection, i.e. a circle, then click on another part of the screen to place the centre of the circle, with a second click to set the radius of the circle (an alternative would be a single click and drag to place the circle and drag it out to the desired radius.) Once the mouse if clicked a 2nd time, or the drag operation is completed, the circle will stay at the selected radius.
The code I'm using so far to test out the idea is below: _root.onEnterFrame=function(){ _root["item1"].onMouseMove=function(){ d = Math.sqrt(Math.abs(_xmouse-this._x)*Math.abs(_xmouse-this._x)+Math.abs(_ymouse-this._y)*Math.abs(_ymouse-this._y)); if(d<370){ this._width = d*2; this._height = d*2; }else{ this._width = 87; this._height = 87; }}}
This uses a simple circle movieclip, and the above code is placed in Frame 1 of the background as opposed to the movieclip itself. It resizes the circle movieclip ok, but I want to be able to control the resize with the mouse or with a single click/drag.
im messing with a movieclip symbol and i want to make a button, what'd i mean on Mouse over display/change this image in this X,Y cords or replace this image, something close to what buttonSymbol does but i want to make it using movieClip symbol... and i have no idea how to do it.. i started like this:
I'm trying to find out how to make a simple image gallery which changes image upon a mouse click on a button, when a button is pressed I want the image to slide in from the left into the viewable area and then when another image is selected I want the previous image that was viewed to remain in the screen and then the new image slide across over the top to replace the image.
I can get the images to slide across from the left upon a mouse click however I can't change the layer order so if image 6 is viewed and then I click to see image 1, the image will slide into place however it will be below image 6 so therefore not viewable.
I don't have an example of what I'm after but I hope my explanation was good enough, I've seen this been done in javascript but I have to use flash and am unable to replicate the effect I'm after
Is there a way to make the transparent area from an png image not to register when I add with a mouse event to that image? What is happening is the rectangle around the symbol is effected by the mouse event.
I created a simple mouseover (like this one http:url... )with one small image that grows to a LARGER image directly on top of the smaller image when mouse is OVER the smaller image. When user mouses OVER the smaller image the larger image appears correctly.Problem is that even when user mouses OVER the "boundries" of where the LARGER image WILL appear, that also causes larger image to appear. What I want is for the larger image to appear ONLY when mouse is OVER the smaller image.
what i m trying to do is load a image form xml and resize it to fixed height and then to centre the image on stage...however the following code is not resizing the image and neither is it centering the image...i used trace commands to check its width but i get the output as undefined also on load the images r coming rotated 90 degree.
here's my code
Code: var slidexml:XML = new XML(); slidexml.ignoreWhite = true; var currentIndex:Number = 0;
I'm trying to do a proportional resize of an image. I know the image's original dimensions (which vary from image to image) and then I know its intended height in pixels. How do I scale it down to fit the new height whilst keeping it in proportion? Is there a simple equation to do this?
i had a xml wich is dynamically genrate the values, and i use those value to show as a image in flash as2.now the values are n numbers, if it is beyound the screen i want to resize the whole image in to best fit on my screen.
i am trying to build a resize with stage image gallery. It is working except for when you first open the swf the image has it's original size, and it only adjusts to the stage when the stage resizes.s the script:
I'm not a coder, but I recently had someone build me a Flash site ( I think using AS2). Part of the site includes scaling up a background image to the browser size, but I'm seeing terrible artifacts when this is done.
Take a look at the home page of this link to see what I mean[url]...
I was wondering if someone could tell me if it is at all possible to scale up an image like this in Flash WITHOUT the resulting artifacts?
I'm trying to create a touch application through gestureworks, specifically by adapting this tutorial - [URL] I'm trying to scale an image down when the app loads with no luck.
I know in php there is a tag to resize a image simply: $width = 120; $height = 80; if ($width && ($size[0] < $size[1])) { $width = ($height / $size[1]) * $size[0]; } else { $height = ($width / $size[0]) * $size[1]; } However, how to do this in FLASH?
I have a constant doubt. I never know why the resize image always look ugly. Today I found an example that don't look ugly and only gets better when resize. How they do that?
Can any one know a function that is doing resize and it is doing it right, because I have made a function but it I make my image small like 70x50 from 950x500 it is distorting it.
I'm new to AS and trying to learn new stuff by going through Kirupa's tuts and old threads, I came across this image resize from Best of Kirupa.url..At the moment all loading images as well as frame are resizing with top left corner always in fixed position. I've been trying to amend the existing AS, so both frame and images always stay and do the resizing at horizontal centre of the movie?
This shouldn't be too difficult, but what I have is a button, which in the 'over' state I want to load an external image, and then have the image disappear when the users mouse hovers off the button
